We all shift back and head for the house when all of a sudden we get a whiff of rogues. I look to our fathers to make sure they know to protect the females. My father mind links our pack for the warriors to come and help since we weren't sure of their numbers. Our fathers come to either side of me as I push my mate to get behind us. Our mothers are next to flank us. We hear them breathing. They must have caught our scent because they are running toward us at a high speed. "Protect her. Protect your Luna." I howl into our mind link. We don't know who these wolves are or what their intentions are but we are going to protect our mate and our pack. Everything seems to slow down when danger is near. Your vision is sharper. You can hear the wings on a bug flapping. You can smell the foul stench of the rogues. You see with rogues once they become one they start to smell, almost like rotting flesh. "Derrick, guard her with your life, I tell him." " Yes, Alpha of course I will, he says." he knows that right now I'm not his buddy Z, right now I am his Alpha and that I just gave him a direct order to follow. He moved into position behind her to make sure nobody tries to grab her. I look to see Joelle in human form standing behind me. She moves closer to my hind legs almost by my side. She looks over at me and says, "They are my family as well let me help you." I knew she and Ben were right but I was terrified that something would happen to my mate. For us, if we lose our mates we either die or go mad. It's much worse for an Alpha if he loses his Luna. We have to lead a pack and for me, that's over eight hundred people. I look at my mate and know that I only have one option and that was to let her be involved in this fight. I rub my muzzle along her thigh and nod my head once. She knew what I said without us being connected by the mind link. I take a look at her and know that I will never love another woman like I love this beautiful, brave, and caring woman in front of me. We hear them running faster and faster. "They are picking up speed. There must be at least a dozen of them coming, my father mind links me." "I think you're right, I say back." I take one last look at my mate before these rogues come into view. They are slowing down. They don't seem to want to attack us. I look to Joelle so she knows what I'm asking of her. She nods in return. I shift back into my human form after telling my father and Derrick. "State your business, I say." The one that looked like the leader shakes his head and goes behind a tree to change. "Are you Alpha Zander, he asks?" "Yes, and who are all of you? You're trespassing on my territory." "Please forgive us we are not trying to attack you." "We hear the Luna has returned home, he says." "How did you know this, I ask?" "Words travel Alpha." "Who are you, I ask once more?" Joelle's p.o.v

"We come to serve the Luna, he says looking right at me. "The others wish to shift back as well." "How about this everyone shift and we can all breathe a little easier knowing that this isn't an attack against us, I say." Zander nods his head but must have told a few to stay in wolf form just in case something were to happen. Zander comes to wrap his arm around me in a possessive manner. Showing them that I am his even though I don't bare his mark on my neck. "Where did you hear these rumors, I ask?" "Are they really rumors if you have come home Luna, Jacob asks?"
