Chapter 11

Zander’s p.o.v

I watch as my mate closes her eyes and her nose scrunches up in concentration. The next thing we know flames jump into the palm of her hands. She opens her eyes and they are the same color as the flames dancing in her hands. From the corner of my eye, I see a flower go up in flames. I can’t seem to move my eyes from hers. They captivate me so much that I haven’t heard a word that has left her beautiful lips. I then see the flames slowly creep across that flawless skin of hers. They seem to almost shine with pride. We make our way back to the packhouse only to find a group of people that wanted to meet our new Luna. As we step up I introduce them to my mate and their Luna. She seems to ooze power and not just because she has powers. She seems stronger and maybe even happy. She smiles more and laughs more. "Z, dude. She needs to rest so Willow can heal her while she sleeps. Come, little one, let’s get you up to bed so Willow can help you, I tell her." She gasps. "How did you know that?" "Ben told me. He and Willow have been talking and there is more he needs to tell me. We have to make sure that we take care of our mate, I say. We know you will forget because you are taking care of everyone else." I guide her to the bedroom that is connected to mine, "just in case you need me is all." "I know, Zander I trust you. I know that you will never do anything to hurt me." "Joelle, there are things in my past that tear a man’s soul to pieces. I have had to make the hard choices to protect this pack." "Zander, sweetheart I completely understand. You have had to carry a massive amount of weight on your shoulders. Let me help you. Let me carry some of the weight. I am here to help you guide this pack to bigger and better things. To make this the very best pack that it can be." "Please don’t ever stop calling me Zander or any other pet names, I say. They make me happy to hear it coming from your beautiful mouth." She turns and blushes. “Don’t ever hide your face from me please I tell her.” “ I’m sorry Zander, it’s just really hard to go from one thing to another.” “ I want you to know how proud of you I am.” “What do you mean Zander, I’ve done nothing to earn it?” she asked me. “yes, you have.” “I watched you showing us your powers and the way you interacted with Amanda.” “Those are traits of an amazing Luna.” She blushes again and tries to hide her face from me. “What did I say little wolf?” “Not to hide my face from you.” “ That’s exactly right. I said to her” " I took the liberty to have some clothes bought for you. They are in your dresser and closet. Whatever you don't like we can send back." "You bought me clothes? I've never had new clothes, they have always been hand-me-downs." She informs me. "Little wolf do you mean to tell me that you have never had clothes that were bought just for you?" "No Alpha I haven't ever had anything bought for me. Claire would share the best that she could but there are only so many things that you can do for a person." "She is my very best friend. Now you must rest, I said as I stood her up and tucked her in. I will just be next door in my room if you need me. If I'm not there, I will be across the hall in my office. When you wake you can shower and change into something comfortable. Next week I want you to start training in both human and wolf forms. I will teach you how to protect yourself." "Okay, Zander, she says while suppressing a yawn." "Sleep, my little mate, and we can talk when you wake." "Zander, could you stay with me, please?" "Yes, I can stay until you fall asleep. Where would you like me to stay?" She leans over and pats the other side of the bed and says, "you can lie with me if you like." I kick off my boots and crawl into bed with her. "Would it be okay if I held you for a bit?" She doesn't hesitate and curls up next to me in my arms. Before long, she is fast asleep. "I wonder when the last time she actually slept well, I said to Ben. Our little mate is very sweet and innocent. We need to protect her at all costs, I told him."

Joelle p.o.v

After lying down in this beautiful bed and asking Zander to stay, I finally fell asleep. It doesn't seem long but I feel a gentle breeze on my face and I wake up in a meadow overlooking a beautiful ocean. I stood and saw a woman standing at the edge of the cliff. I holler for her and she turns to me and smiles, saying, "hello little wolf. My name is Selene, but you can call me Moon Goddess." "You are the Moon Goddess?" "Yes, little one I am. I have great things in store for you my child." "May I ask where you have been my whole life?" "Yes, child, I am sorry that you have gone through so much in your short life. You will go and do great things though from having a life like that. I need you to understand something, I made you just for Zander, he is a good man. Misguided, but he is a good man. He needs you in his life. There is a war coming and you will need your mate and his pack. You are in grave danger, my child. You see Alpha Lucas has rejected his mate because he wants you." "What do you mean he wants me? He was the one that beat me almost every day for anything." "Let's talk about your powers, child. You already know of the fire, scent masking, and the clothing, but you have one more power, you can heal others but just know it will take a great deal of energy to heal the more serious wounds. You can heal all types of things like the energy level of a person or physical wounds. So make sure you understand that when you have to heal someone. It will drain you the more serious it is." You see your powers are going to shape you into something either good or bad. It's a matter of if you choose to be good or evil. You see you will be in a war in the future for your powers to be used. Just get your powers under control and have discipline." I hear a noise not too far from here so I turned to look but when I turned back Selene was gone and I was alone. I walked to the edge of the cliff to examine the water below. I hear my name being called from the distance. "Zander, is that you I asked?" I wake with a jolt of panic. I roll over and Zander is nowhere to be found.
