Loose Ends

The next morning I had all of my clothes, sentimental, and personal items packed and loaded in my truck. I had everything figured out, and one of those things was that I was getting the hell out of this town and following Naomi’s plan to find other skinwalkers. There was nothing for me her anymore, and hadn’t been since Naomi died. I was in the kitchen drinking my morning cup of coffee, heavy on the cream, when I heard Mandy getting up from the couch. “I’m in here.” I yelled at her. I had to talk to her. I had a plan and before I left this place I wanted to make sure she didn’t strip again. Mandy came in the kitchen in her oversized shirt and boxers, with make up smeared on her face. She gave me a half smile and set down at the table. “I need to ask you a few questions, some may sound intrusive but it’s all for a reason okay.” I asked her. She just nodded her head so I began “Why do you strip Mandy?” I asked getting to the point. “You know why Liza?” she groaned. “Enlighten me.” I said to her with an encouraging smile. “So I can pay for college and become a hospice nurse.” she answered. “What bills do you pay?” I asked. “I pay my rent, lights, water, tv, phone, and tuition, not to mention the essentials..” she explained. I could tell she was getting annoyed. “Okay Mandy I’m leaving town today, for good.” I admitted to her. “What you can’t you're the only person I have to help me through all of this?” she began crying. “Listen don’t cry! I want to help you Mandy but you have to promise me you will never work at a strip club again.” I told her. “I promise.” she stuttered. “Okay I want you to stay here and keep the place up for me. I’m keeping the electric and water on anyway. All you will have to pay is your cable and phone. Also I am giving you 40,00 dollars to help with your tuition and your essential needs. I want you to get a respectable job and stay the hell away from Gary.” I told her as I held her hand and looked her in the eye. “Oh my god Liza I can’t accept that. It’s to much.” She cried. “You can and it’s not. I also want you to use the truck while I’m gone so you don’t have to take the bus. I am getting a new car today. I will need one to travel. That old thing isn't going to make it as far as I need to go.” I said to her with a smile, I hadn’t planned on leaving the truck but decided to because of Mandy taking the bus and subway. It was too dangerous for her. “Liza you are my angel.” She screamed jumping from her chair and hugging me tight. “No Mandy, I am your sister.” I said with tears in my eyes. An hour later I was at Michaels office waiting to speak with him. I was putting a stop to Gary and what he was doing to the girls. I couldn’t just leave the rest of the girls there to fend for themselves they were all great people with great hearts. “He will see you now, just go through the double doors.” his secretary said to me as she pointed to the two wooden doors in front of me. I walked through the doors and seen michael setting behind a huge oak desk. “Don’t you work at my gentlemans club?” he asked with a smile as he got up to shake my hand. I shook his hand and set down before I answered “I did.” “What do you mean did.” “I quit last night.” I told him with a serious look in my eyes. “What is it you need to talk to me about ?” he asked getting to the point. “I want to talk to you about the manager of the club.” I said to him matter of factly. “You mean Gary? What’s going on?”he asked. “I quit last night because he was trying to get one of the girls who I’m very close to, to go to a private party for a high roller. He has tried to get me to several times. Not only parties but even in the back of the club in the champagne room.” I continued. “All the girls are terrified to tell you because Gary is very much into the drug ring around town and has a lot of connections. I’m done with this town and the bullshit that comes with it, you lost your best dancer last night, and your best waitress, because of him. I suggest you do something about it before the cops end up raiding your building.” I finished as I got up to leave. “Eliza you have my word that I will take care of this and Gary will no longer be employed by me or anyone else in this town.” MIchael said angrily. I smiled at him and walked out the door. A few hours later I had my new truck loaded and was ready to leave. I had took Mandy and opened up a savings account in both of our names so that I could wire her money she would need for the upkeep on the house and the electric and water bill. I also transferred the money I had promised her into the account. I had a notary sign a paper along with mandy and me stating Mandy had say so over the house until further notice, but I also added that she wasn’t aloud to sale it. Then I had stopped by the car dealership and bought me a new full size 2018 black on black Chevrolet Avalanche. It was the first new vehicle I had ever owned, and was now my prized possession. Mandy and I said our tearful goodbye and I pulled out of my driveway headed out of New York and hopefully on to greener pastures.
