Chapter 4

1434 Words
Mate. Katya confirms in my head. "Mine." A low growl comes from the lips of the man standing in front of me, he pulls me into him and smells the crook of my neck. I can feel the mate bond tingles or sparks or whatever you want to call them all over my body. The smell and feeling relaxes me and makes me lean into his embrace closing my eyes. He stops, pulling back with a scowl on his face. He then licks his finger and wipes it on my neck, wiping off the concealer and revealing the hickey. I can see his breathing start to quicken. Anger flows off of him like a wave of smoke. "King Dimitri." Mason speaks pulling his attention away from me and my neck. "I'm Alpha Mason and this is my luna, Aurora." A deep growl emanates from King Dimitri's chest. His anger growing. Then one of the other Lycans steps forward and whispers something in the kings ear, seemingly calming his anger or at least allowing King Dimitri to take control back from his Lycan. "We should speak in your office." He turns to Mason indicating it wasn't a request. "Yes, this way." Mason starts to head toward the side doors heading to his office hallway. Mason, King Dimitri and I all head out the doors along with Beta Derek, Gamma Matthew and the 4 Lycans. Once the doors close behind us I can hear the murmuring of our pack. There will be a lot of gossip today. We start down the hallway and Mason, out of habit, reached down and grabs my hand. As soon as our hands connect a warning growl comes from behind us. "Hands to yourself Alpha." King Dimitri warns. Mason pulls his hand away and I look at him scared and also disappointed as I kind of needed his comfort at this moment. This is all way more than I expected for today. For ever. We reach his office and Derek ushers Mason, the king and I inside then shuts the door while the others stand guard essentially. As soon as the door shuts I'm hit with a sudden feeling of panic. The door shutting me in here with two very powerful auras has me feeling like I want to puke. "Have a seat." Mason says to the king, "No I'd prefer to stand." He retorts folding his arms across his chest. "Whatever floats your boat.....It seems we have a bit of an issue on our hands." Mason says trying to lighten the mood, it doesn't work. "There's no issue. I'll help you and your pack fight this war you have going on and when I leave I'll be taking what's mine with me." Dimitri is stoic but gives me a slight smirk when he says 'what's mine'. To show that he means me. "I'm sorry, King Dimitri but Aurora is my wife and she isn't going anywhere." "Aurora" the king turns to look at me and smiles "that's a beautiful name for MY queen." "She is not you're queen. She is MY luna." Masons voice was raising and his frustration has become apparent. "Not given to you by the Moon Goddess. She is mine. Fated. And my true mate! You're lucky I haven't killed you and just taken what's mine right now." "STOP!!!!" My voice screams out before I even can stop myself. "SHE has her own voice and is no one's property." Mason looks down at the ground like a child being scolded and Dimitri smirks at me as if he's amused with my little outburst. "Im sorry Your Highness but." "Dimitri. You are to use my name." "Im sorry but I'm going to have to reject you as my mate." I say looking between Mason and Dimitri. Please don't reject him Aurora. He's our mate and I can feel the strong connection we have with Cassius , his beast. Katya pleads with me. I'm sorry but you knew I'd have to. I don't think this is gunna be as easy as you think it is. She blocks me out in defiance. King Dimitri looks at me for a second and starts laughing. I look over at Mason and he just shrugs. I don't know if King Dimitri doesn't think I'm serious or is just stubborn. "Lycan mates are not the same as wolf mates. They can't just be rejected. There's only two options mate or die." He takes a step towards me, standing maybe a foot in front of me. "I'm sorry my stubborn little wolf but now that we've met either you and me become mates or we both will perish." He runs his hands up and down the side of my arms with a gentle touch that mixed with the mate bond makes me lean into him, letting him embrace me in a hug. "That makes no sense, what if she had my mark already?" Mason pipes up pulling my attention away from the wonderful smell and intoxicating embrace of the lycan king. Dimitri turns to Mason with an almost unamused and exhausted expression on his face as if he's tired of explaining this to us, "I would've had to kill you. I would've had to challenge you to a fight among mates and we all know I would win." He turns back to me and goes to touch me again and I take a step back. Mason grabs my hand and pulls me towards him in an attempt to distance me from Dimitri. I have no idea what's going on in my head. On one hand I can hear what he's saying and realizing that there really is only one option and it's not the one I would choose. On the other hand I wish I could just run away. The Mate bond is also making all of this so difficult because the bond and my wolf are both yelling that I need to be with him but I love Mason. He is my best friend. "What if you're mistaken? What if she's not your mate?" Mason questions. Clearly grasping at straws now. "Aurora?" I hear my name and look up into the eyes of a Lycan King who looks like he's pleading with me for something, maybe looking for a glimmer of hope that I feel the same pull that he feels. I haven't admitted I've felt the mate bond yet. Would it change things if I lied and said I didn't? I couldn't lie. I look up into those eyes and know I couldn't. The Moon Goddess was a twisted b***h. She makes the bond irresistible and I'm sure Fenrir makes it equally difficult to deny. "Aurora, do you feel the bond?" Mason asks. I try to say the words but all that I manage to do is nod. And then stare at the floor trying not to make eye contact with anyone. I can tell Dimitri has a smile on his face but it's masons face I don't want to see. I feel like I've just broken his heart. "So what are we going to do about this?" Dimitri asks clearly wanting this nonsense to end. "I think Aurora should make the decision. It's her life we are talking about." Mason shakes my hand in his trying to get me to look at him. "I...I don't think there's really any choice but one is there?" I look over at Dimitri who shakes his head in agreement. "Once you are done helping us with Alpha Jaxon's pack I will leave with you and be your mate. But until then I am still the wife and Luna of Mason. I will be the Luna of this pack until I no longer can." I look between Mason and Dimitri looking for some sort of acknowledgment. There's an audible sigh that comes from Dimitri "fine but I will have to insist that you can not touch my mate." He states pointing at Mason. "My beast will not hesistate to remove your head" Mason nods his head releasing my hand and taking a step away. I look over at him and can't help but feel a little hurt by how quickly he gave in to that request. I guess the threat of decapitation will do that. I am left stuck in between the two of them with no one saying anything. The awkwardness and tension could be cut with a knife it was so thick. Then as if by some miracle Derek barges into the room. Not even bothering to knock. "King, Alpha, Luna there's been an attack."
