*POV Aurora*
Ugh, the more I think about it, the more I realize how much being a queen will be different from Luna. Luna’s are pretty common in the grand scheme of things, but Queens aren’t, and so now I’ll be treated like some precious jewel when I just want to be a pretty rock.
“Trouble in paradise?” An unfamiliar voice says behind me.
I turned to see an unknown man standing in my room by my window. He is tall, with dark hair and a scar down across his left eye. There's no way that this man could be who I think he is. The "Alpha King" was standing by my open window. The scar across his eye was a dead give away. No one knew how he got the scar but it was his signature. He would often leave Alpha's with a missing eye when he invaded. Barbaric.
"Who are you?"
"I have many names. Alpha of the Red cliff pack, Alpha King, The Devil but you can call me, Jaxon." he replies, giving a cheeky grin when he says the devil. He starts walking towards me and I find myself stepping backwards into the wall.
"Why are you here?" I ask, slowly sliding closer to the door.
"I just came to see how you're doing. It's not every day you find your mate. And that husband of yours. Makes everything so complicated. Doesn't it?" He walks to my dresser to my left and picks up some jewelry on it.
I stare not sure what he expects me to say. Of course its complicated but why the hell does he care?
"Mhmm that's what I thought. What if I told you I could break your mate bond with the King?" he turns and stares at me leaning against the dresser.
"Oh ya? How could you do that?" I try to mindlink Mason but I can't. Like he's too far or something.
"Magic, my silly naive girl." He says mockingly.
"YOU.....know magic? " I retort cheekily. The look on his face changed from smug to distain.
"Of course I don't know magic. What I do have is a witch." I slowly start sliding against the wall closer to the door, hoping I could reach it.
"There hasn't been a witch in these parts since my grandpa was a boy." It was common knowledge that witches were basically extinct after the Salem witch trials. That's what happens when the humans find out about your kind. They were happy to wipe you out.
"Well I'm sure that's true but doesn't change that I have one. She's a good friend of mine." He stands upright and pulls an amulet on a necklace out from the neck of his shirt. "She made me this. Blocks all mind-links. Works pretty well don't ya think?" So that's why I can't contact anyone. Clearly he has someone that knows magic because that amulet does work well.
"And how could she break the mate bond?" I ask, now curious if it's even possible. Would that solve all my problems?
"A potion. Breaks the mate bond but only before you've been marked. Which is why I had to come see you my dear. You don't have much time before that Big Bad Lycan beast decides to take what he thinks is his." he starts walking towards me, his looking more menacing and smug the closer he gets. The door is about a foot away from me but I don't think I could make it before he could catch me.
"And why would you give me this potion?" I ask hoping to distract him long enough for me to inch my way to the door or until Dimitri could come save me. Would he know I'm in danger or Am I the only one thinking of him all the time?
"Well, can't I just do something nice for a friend?" He's gotten close now. Too close for me to move without him noticing a couple more steps and he will be nose to nose with me.
"I'm definitely NOT your friend. " I snarl back at him.
Before I knew it he closed the gap between us, grabbing my neck and slamming me against the wall. Pain shot through my neck and head, making me a bit dizzy and not really focused.
"Oh sweet Aurora, you'd much rather have me as a friend than a foe." he presses his nose into my neck, sniffing deeply. "You smell so good, no wonder the King's beast is losing his cool. He's already attacked you hasn't he?" he grabs my hand and places a kiss on top of the scars from Cassius' claws.
I rip my hand away which causes a snarl to come from his chest. His wolf is mad for some reason. "How did you know that?" The only people who know about that are Mason, Dimitri and I.
"I have friends everywhere. Which is why it's better to be my friend. Will you be my friend Aurora?" he slowly leans down and presses his lips against mine. I clench my mouth shut and squirm but he still has his hand around my neck. I lift my leg searching for his weak spot and my knee finds it. As hard as I can I knee him in the groin, which causes him to drop my neck from his grasp. I scramble away from him on my hands and knees just trying to get some distance. He growls and grabs me by the leg and pulls me back quick. He lifts me up and grabs around my waist holding my back against his body.
Crash* The sound of the door breaking off its hinges draws our attention. I see Dimitri barge through that door and our eyes lock and all of a sudden I'm not scared. I almost feel calm when I see his face. Lennox and Mason soon follow through the door. I feel a sharp claw against my neck and I remember I'm being held by a lunatic.
"I'm glad you could finally make it. Aurora has been a generous host." I cringe as he runs his claw along my neck almost seductively. It makes bile rise up in my throat.
"Let her go." Dimitri's voice is firm, but I can almost sense a hint of fear. Did he already care about me enough to fear for my safety? Or maybe I'm just hoping he cares for me the way I find myself caring for him.
"But My King, why would I want to do that when she smells so good?" he grabs my jaw and runs his nose up my neck and jaw breathing in, causing shivers everywhere. "I bet she tastes even better."
A deathly growl emanates from Dimitri's chest. I manage to open my eyes again and look into his. Dimitri's eyes turn black and then they start swirling with what looks like flames. And then before Dimitri could shift I was picked up by Jaxon and thrown at Dimitri. I am caught with a thud against his chest. We turn to see Jaxon jumping out of my window. Mason and Lennox run to look out the window. Dimitri turns my face to his looking me up and down searching for any marks.
"I'm fine, Dimitri." I say while grabbing his hands to stop him from moving so much. He looks me in the eyes and I can see the fire and darkness dissipating. His beast relinquishing control. I've never heard of someone's eyes having fire in them literally, just figuratively.
"He's gone. No soldiers saw him leave." Lennox says clearly having been mindlinking his Lycan guards.
"
