Chapter 15

2549 Words
"Where are the other girls?" You asked, looking at the chocolate skinned woman beside you. The both of you took a sharp turn to the left and began to descended down the stairs, your hand placed upon the handle on the side, feeling its smooth surface as you let it slide waiting for her to answer. Arriving at the foot of the stairs, before Normani could reply, you hear multiple laughs coming from the living room a few feet away from where you stood. What confused you even more is the giggle of a small voice. Your brows scrunched as you look at Normani. "Did you girls adopt someone when I wasn't around or something?" Normani laughed halfheartedly, shaking her head in disagreement. "No, but we would if we could." You entered the living room, and see a familiar small figure running around the room with the twins in tow, chasing her. You watched them, surprised and glanced at Normani before looking back to Angelina, who crouched down and hid under the Christmas tree behind multiple gifts neatly stacked around it. Troy huffed, amused at Angelina, who thought that the two never saw her hide. He looked towards his brother and raised a brow, smiling. "Oh no, Gio." Troy gasped dramatically. "We lost her! Y/N's so going to be mad at us." Sergio rolled his eyes at his brother, clearly not in the mood to play around. "She's under the tree Troy, just get her out." "Geez." Troy frowned at his brother before taking Angelina from under the tree, lifting her up in his arms making the little girl squeal in surprise. "You're such a party pooper, am I right lina?" He asked the young girl in his arms. Troy heard you let out a breathy snort at him and saw you trudging towards them with a raised brow shooting towards at him. His lips curved into a grin. "Look who decided to finally come out of her cave." Sergio mused, crossing his arms. Angelina's arms instantly opened wide for you, her pearl white teeth showed as she smiled at you. "Y/N!" She giggles innocently. Your E/C orbs intently stare at the girl that is on your best friend's arms, your feet slowly bringing you closer at the two of them. The twins were right, she really does look like you when you were a kid, but were your parents treating her right? Were they treating her the way you experienced? Hopefully they don't. Because knowing someone going through the way you did pains you. Your lips broke into a small smile as you bring one of your arms up and poke Angelina's soft dimple on her cheeks, she let out an adorable laugh. You placed your hand on her sides and pulled her closer to you, carrying her on your hips while she wrapped her arms around your neck on instinct. "How old are you little one?" You asked, racking her from left to right. She held her fingers in front of your face. "Fowr." She replied. "Four? Wow." You grunted when you readjusted her on your hips. "You weigh like a seven year old." You told her, poking her stomach. "Look who's talking," Troy piped in, grinning at you. "When you were seven you looked like thirteen." "Are you saying that I look old?" You arched a brow at him. Troy hastily shook his head. "No, no! I'm just saying that..uh- I mean..we all have different types of perspective when we look at other people. Look at Gio." He pointed to his brother. "He looks like mom when he was a kid." Sergio scoffed. "Yeah, what a nice way to say that I look like a girl, Troy." Troy's lips parted dumbly at his brother. "I didn't mean that! I, what I..- you know what? I'll just shut up." He then frowned, crossing his arms on his chest. You all laughed at him. Your attentions were torn away as you all hear a door slamming shut that came from the hallway. "We're back!" You hear Dinah's loud voice ring inside the room from the outside. Looks like the others already arrived - You sat quietly between the twins, Troy on your left while Sergio on the right, observing others as they converse with each other. Time finally came and you all shared a feast on Christmas eve. The feast contains several cooked meals, to your left is a roasted turkey perfectly cooked to golden, beside it is a mountain of mashed potatoes served with a tub of steaming gravy and green peas -You really don't understand why its in there. To your right -much to the twins pleasure since they didn't want to celebrate Christmas without a little bit of Filipino culture- deep fried rolls, or as we call in the Philippines, lumpiang shanghai, sided with a home made sauce and sweet and sour ketchup. Besides it is believed to be food for long life in every family in the Philippines, Pancit canton. Your E/C orbs scanned the table, its mouth watering dishes that made you instantly hungry at the smell, before they land on a certain green eyed beauty from the end of the table, at the opposite side, that you still havent talked to. Your eyes caught a glimpse of the boy beside her, making you groan inwardly. He's the reason why you still haven't talked to her. Ever since they  arrived from the mall, Brad never left her side, knowing all too well that you're going to approach his girlfriend. A silent celebration inside your head knowing that Brad feared of losing his girlfriend to you, but a part of you still felt disappointed that your body craved someone you know that you'll never have, you don't even know of Lauren's even comfortable in your presence. Sergio laughed at Camila's joke that was beside him before turning his attention towards you, his mouth moving as he chewed his food, he gulped down. "You alright there, Y/N?" He asked, his eyes rolling towards the person you're staring at. Your body jolt back and looked at him, absentmindedly nodding your head. "Yeah, I'm alright." You forced a tight smile. "Loads of bull." Troy chimed in as he shift closer in his seat while taking a bite out of his shanghai. "You've been eyeing Lauren the whole time ever since the food arrived, I almost thought she's the one you're going to eat." You shot him a glare. "Shut your dirty mouth." You hissed as you hear his brother chuckle. Troy shrugged his hand. "What's dirty about that?" He asked innocently. "Is eating Lauren dirty?" You looked at him incredulously. "Do you really hear what you're saying?" Troy shook his head, his eyes squinting as he tries to scan his last words. His brows shot up in realization, his cheeks flared and glared at his brother who laughed at him. "You two are the ones who have a dirty mind here!" His brows furrowed, the redness of his cheeks crawled all the way to his neck. "I didn't mean it like a s****l way!" He exclaimed hiding his face with a hand. "Yeah, sure, Troy." Sergio snorted turning to you. "This again is another one of Troy's 'I didn't mean it' scenarios." You chuckled halfheartedly. "Who's eating who?" Heads turned towards the feminine voice beside Sergio and you all saw Camila leaning in closer towards the three of you. "What are you guys talking about?" An innocent smile plastered on her face, making Troy grin devilishly to take the advantage that you never notice since he's behind you. He put on a neutral face. "Nothing special, it's just that." Troy begun, making you turn your head towads him. "We're just talking about Y/N here eating Lau-" "Troy!" You cut him off, screeching, placing your hand on his mouth. You turn to Camila, she was looking at you curiously. You smiled at her and shake your head. "Don't listen to Troy, we're just talking about...what food to eat first because -uh..everything is delicious in here." Camila flicked her hair from her shoulder while letting out a short laugh. "Well thank you, Y/N. I've cooked it myself." She hums proudly. Troy's brows slowly rose and gave Camila a look. Camila groaned. "I helped, okay? So it's considered me cooking it." "Well it's really delicious, Camila." Sergio praised. "Please, Gio." Troy rolled his eyes. "Stop boosting up her ego." Camila reached over from your seat and pinched Troy until his skin turned red. "Camila no!" Troy tried pushing her hand off, he can already feel his skin burn in pain. "No! You're so mean to me." "I'm not mean, I'm just stating the fact!" Sergio placed a hand on Camila's shoulder. "Alright that's enough." He told both of them, lightly pulling Camila to lean back to her seat. Camila huffed as she glares at Troy and shot her head away, her hair slapping Sergio's skin making him feel a light itch. Troy stuck a tongue at her before returning to eat his food. You shook your head unbelievably, your eyes jumping between two. "Sometimes I wonder why you two," You paused pointing at the two of them. "Aren't thinking to date each other, I mean, you two are quite perfect for each other." "Oh gosh," Sergio gasped exaggeratedly. "It'll be the end of the world, these two act like three year olds." "We do not!" Both of them choired. "And besides, Ally could be the perfect girl to keep Troy sane." Camila said. "Anyways, where's Ally?" Sergio asked. Your eyes scanned the table again before spotting Ally at the left corner, her boyfriend sat next to her. Her eyes held in an unknown look that was very odd for her causing a slight tug in your stomach that find it hard to believe Ally being unusually quiet. Having second thoughts of what you're assuming, meanwhile Troy and Camila, knew that something really is wrong. Troy's eyes stared at Ally intently. His brown orbs observed her, scanning from her arms, that is the only thing he can see from the distance, up to her face. Troy noticed the uneasiness of the Latina's posture, on how uncomfortable she gets when her boyfriend leans over to talk to her, sparking a little bit of information in his head. "There's something going on with Ally." Troy utterrs quietly, his eyes slowly hardened as his orbs switched to the blonde boy next to Ally. "What?"Camila asked. "I don't know," He turns towards her. "But we need to tell the other girls." Troy begins to stand up "Hold that thought." You stopped Troy by placing a hand on his shoulder. "You just can't act on something you're not sure of." "But Y/N we need to tell the gi-" "I know, they have the right to know, but not now." You told him. "Not until we have proof, Troy, what if what we're thinking of is wrong? What do you think we'll do?" Troy's eyes looked back to Ally, his eyes held worry for the woman while Ally plays with her food, absentmindedly twirling her fork on the canton. - The long arm of your watch ticked past the short one that is almost rolling past ten, you looked up, it was dead of the night, street lights lined down the curved road has already been lit, layers of snow under you feet slowly melting into a puddle. You threw your rolled hands inside your pockets as you caught a glimpse of the condensation of your breath as you sighed. You stood beside at one of the street lights in front of the mansion, just waiting for the time to pass by. A soft crunch of snow passing through your ears made your head turn towards the direction. Lauren stood there a few meters away, her arms hugged her body as a chilly breeze blew past her, her green orbs stared into your E/C ones. "What're you doing out here?" She asked as she begins to approach you. You watch her with a shrug. "I don't even know." You faced forward, watching the empty streets. You feel Lauren's presence paused beside you, your eyes rolled towards her. Lauren smiled. "I....saw a gas station two blocks from here..." She trailed off, hinting something. "You're hungry aren't you?" You teased, smirking at her. She smiled sheepishly. "A little bit." She said, making you chuckle. "Shut up, I didn't ate that much at supper since Brad was watching me." You pushed your body that was leaning on the street light. "How about we walk all the way there, we could attract attention if we use the car." Lauren nods in understatement as you two begin your journey. As she trudges next to you, you could feel her shoulder against yours and her hand brushing past yours every now and then, you almost thought she's doing it on purpose. "So..." Lauren trailed off, breaking the eerie silence, glancing at you from the side. "How was your Christmas?" "It was fine." You answered plainly, looking down to your watch.  Lauren nod her head. "But it's getting better now." You added. Lauren shot her head forward, fighting the urge to let her lips curl while her cheeks flushed, she was very thankful that it was dark enough for you to not see how red she was at the moment. "Well i-uh.." Lauren stuttered, overwhelmed on how her heart palpitated in her chest. "I uh..it's a good thing I could make your Christmas better. If it is, still." "It still is," You told her with a smirk, showing your wrist watch; 11:45. Lauren nod her head down, hiding the shy smile that finally broke into her lips. Both of you came into a halt upon an intersection, white and faded pedestrial lane in front just for you two to cross. Lauren scanned from left to right, then looking up to see the traffic light blinked from orange to red. "I really don't know why they put that up there when there's hardly any car's passing by." Lauren giggles, moving forward to cross the street. "Come on." She prompts. You nod your head at her and begin to walk forward, your foot going over the other. Bright, white orbs from the side of your vision caused you to make an abrupt pause. Faded gray colored truck moving past the speed limit wheeled towards your direction. It keeps honking with no sign of stopping. The air in your body lumped in your throat as your body froze to a stand still, your wide eyes rolling between the truck and Lauren who's already in the middle of the street.
