WILD ROSE

The room was dark,dank even. Something was definitely off as I felt my way into the dark and turned on the living room light. Everything seemed intact but there was this nagging feeling someone else was in the room. I was only proven right when a shadow suddenly sprang from nowhere and stood a couple of metres away from me. Immediately I recoiled as I was met by wavy Chestnut hair and penetrating red eyes that were slightly inhuman. "Take one more step and I call the police," I attempted weakly. There was no way I could outsmart the man. He was clearly much stronger, calculated and maybe even quicker. "Ah, the delusions of humans," he laughed sounding like gravel hitting a window. I involuntarily shuddered and blinked nervously. "Who the hell are you and what are you doing in my house?" The man's laugh turned be so insidious making me back away. "You really have no idea what you are or what I am? I am the king of vampires or what your kind like to call Dracula." He smiled indolently at me. " And you Nesrin Delion have something I need, power,a lot of power." Horror swarmed over my body like thousands of red army ants. My mouth tasted of bile. The man in front of me was Dracula, seriously? And I had some powers? As far as I knew I was just a normal high school student and he clearly got the wrong girl. Despite all this assurances only one stood out. The man was there to kill me. Vaguely I became aware that he was closing in on me. Instinctively I dashed for the door but never made it. Suddenly I felt a tremendous shock as though I had touched a live wire. Then realized I was sprawled face down on the floor. I had been bludgeoned in the head. Before I had time to feel any pain, Dracula pulled me back up by the neck. "Trying to get funny,huh?" he snarled revealing his fangs. He flung me against a sideboard and several pieces of porcelain fell and shattered on the carpet. When I hit the floor he kicked me in the side, once,twice,five times in all. My teeth bit into my cheek, and blood started to run out of my mouth. I fought for breath. Oh God, I really was going to die. Unless Austin and Alexander arrived soon to work on our school project. When Dracula yanked me upright I was suddenly furious. "Let go of me or you'll regret it," I spat venomously, trying to shake my arm free. I knew I was asking for a death wish much sooner. The man was a vampire king for Goodness sake! Dracula's eyes widened in mock fear and glinted with amusement. "Oh,no, anything but that! There is nothing you can do about this. Maybe if your parents cared to tell you about your powers you would easily be able to make me regret." His raucousness switched to anger, and he slammed the the side of my head with an open palm. My ears rang. " You have no idea how much I enjoyed torturing your parents to death for their secret. And when they finally told me about you I killed them." What! His statement wiped out all sanity for me. He was the one who killed my parents. In white heat of furry,charged with adrenaline that granted me inhuman force, I pushed back with all my might. Dracula's eyes widened as he lost his footing and fell backwards clenching where his heart was supposed to be. There was a sickening c***k and thud just before he hit the ground and was still. On his way down he had made a sound like nothing I had ever heard. I wasn't sure what to do next. It was clear he was dead, I had just killed Dracula.
