I looked at Ember, her eyes shining with excitement, “Well darlin’ do you wanna find out?” I asked her. She gave my hand a squeeze and nodded at the doctor. We hadn’t really had talked about the pregnancy or pups much, other than how she was feeling. I stared at the monitor as our pups came into view. “This is pup number one,” Dr. Clearwater stated, “and it is a boy!” I thought my heart would jump right out of my chest at the news. “And this is pup number two, and it is a girl!” I leaned over the bed, trying to pour all my feelings into one kiss. I brushed a tear from Ember’s smiling face, “We get the best of both worlds,” she whispered.
The doctor printed out a few pictures and handed then to Ember. She lay there staring at them, love filling her eyes. Dr. Clearwater clear
