Chapter 18 I'll see you in the next life

“Finally we’re getting out of here, this place is so weird aren’t ready to be back home?”

I thought about everything Gordo was telling me last night and when I looked around I had a bad feeling in my gut.

“Adam my son, you take care of things here, and remember everything will be ok.”

She touched her son's face one more time before letting it go and getting into the helicopter. Me and Johnny were packing the last of the bags up before we were stopped by Rook and his daughter. Captain Tank there has been a slight change of plans Brook will be going with you.

This wasn’t part of the plan why they didn't tell me before. I looked back at Gordo who only nodded her head at me in acceptance, So I took her bag and helped her onto the helicopter. When Riles was done talking to the pilot he peered in and noticed Brook sitting next to Gordo.

“What is she doing in here?”

“She’s obviously coming with us, under Rooks order.”

“I’m the leader of this mission, and I say she’s not coming.”

He tried to reach for her but I grabbed his arm. 

“I don’t care what you’re the leader of. The councilmen says she goes, then she goes.”

We both stared at each other like we wanted to hit each other which i wouldn’t mind doing and i'm sure he wouldn’t either.

“Fellas, fellas there’s always room for a pretty face on board.”

Johnny got in between us scooting us from each other.

“Young Riles, I trust, that you will see my daughter safely here and back won’t you?”

He looked at him and back at her with annoyance but just groaned as him and Erwin got in the chopper. 

“Rook, are you sure about this? I can’t promise-”

“I have talked to my daughter Captain, and she and I both know of the dangers to come all i ask is that you protect her.”

I nodded my head and got into the chopper last. It started to take off and stared down at Rook as he gave me a weird grin before walking off. 

At first it seemed like we were riding in silence for a bit but my bad feeling kept bothering me. 

Erwin started to unbuckle his seat belt.

“Finally away at last.”

“You might want to buckle up sunshine, you’ll fall out if you’re not careful.”

“Oh i'll be fine, you on the other hand.”

He pulled out a gun and pointed it at johnny.

“Erwin put that f*****g gun away, we’re not doing this here.”

“Look i get that your girlfriend is here but, she shouldn’t have tagged along we have to complete this mission or else now would you stop being a p***y and shoot her already”

I didn’t think they would try something now maybe back at base but not now. I tried my best to pretend like I didn't know anything.

“Look Erwin i know we haven’t all really gotten along but-”

“Shut up, Tank. I know that you know about us about our mission. I was watching you last night and trust me Rook was warned of the hell to pay and Gore will most certainly hear about his failure.”

“Kyle, what's he talking about?”

Without hesitation he shot Johnny in the stomach.

“Johnny!!”

He pointed the gun to me next. 

“What's going on back there?”

“Keep flying this thing!!”

He looked over at Riles who had his gun drawn but not pointed at anyone at first but he finally pointed it at Gordo, but Brook had gotten in between them.

“Please don’t do this Hunter, if we help them maybe they could help you. Erwin maybe they could help you too.”

“Shut up!! No one can help us. Do it, Riles shoots them.”

“Move Brook please, i don’t want to hurt you.”

But she didn’t budge; she stood there with confidence believing he wouldn’t shoot. It was taking him a minute to do anything. But finally Erwin shot the pilot and everything started spinning. Somehow they both were able to keep their balance while still having their guns pointed to us. 

“Shoot now!!”

 But before the gun could go off the helicopter was hitting the ground. 

Everything was black at first and I couldn't move like I was trapped under something. I could hear fire burning around me and I could hear Johnny's voice.

“K..yy..le.”

“Johnny! Are you alright? I can’t see you.”

It sounded like he chuckled. 

“We had….a good run brother. I guess it’s the end of the line for me.”

“f*****g stay with me johnny, you’re gonna make it!”

My eyesight was becoming clearer and as I looked around I could see pieces of the chopper around me and I could see that I was pinned under one of the doors. When looked over to my right Johnny was next to me. He looked at me and smiled.

“Maybe...i'll see you in the next life.”

He closed his eyes and stopped moving.

“Johnny?! Johnny?!?!” f*****g wake up!!”

But he didn’t move. I heard rustling from a little bit away from me and Erwin was throwing a piece of the chopper from off top of him. 

“s**t, that f*****g hurt. Where’s that stupid b***h? Gordo?! Come out and meet your f*****g end. Traitor of Goliath and Krillians!! Riles, where are you?”

“I’m here you f*****g i***t. Why did you have to shoot the pilot?”

He was dragging Brook along with him by her waist. She looked at me and noticed I was there but she didn’t make them aware of it.

“Gordo!!” 

“I’m not hiding Erwin, I'm right here.” 

She was walking out from behind a tree. There was a black liquid coming from her head, arms and legs, but she seemed to be walking perfectly fine. I mean i knew that she was from outer space but to not seem hurt at all by a plane crash how could they possibly kill her.

“You know, killing me won’t stop Goliath’s fall, we have been here for too long and we all need to find our way to halla and soon he will but it won’t be by a humans hands.”

Erwin smirked and went to put the gun in Riles hand and snatched Brook out of his arms. 

“Finish the job, so we can get out of here.”

He pointed the gun at Gordo and held it there for a while. Then she looked at me and smiled one last time. Remember no matter what happens don’t try to stop it.

“Gordo! Noooo!”

It was too late the shot went right for her head. It was terrible the bullet made contact and her eyes turned pitch black and her skin turned to metal that was rusty and she collapsed to the ground with the smile still on her face.

“Riles!! ill f*****g kill you.”

 As I struggled to get the door off of me he looked at me with a sad look, like he knew what he had done but he was in no way proud of it. He turned to Erwin who was still holding Brook hostage.

“Let me go Erwin.” 

She struggled but his grip was too strong.

“Not so fast, you’re a traitor too and we have to take care of you just like her.”

“Hunter would never hurt me you asshole.”

“You sure about that?”

He pointed over to Riles who was holding the gun in their direction.

“Hunter what are you...i thought-”

“Riles, don’t kill her, she's innocent, she has nothing to do with this!!”

“You don’t know anything Tank, my father will kill her for sure if i don’t so i have to do it.”

He turned back to her and before I knew it a shot was being fired. I looked back between them and Riles, Brook was still standing and instead Erwin was falling to the ground.

Brook took a step forward. 

“Don’t f*****g move Brook! You promised me you would stay at Avalon.”

“I'm sorry hunter but i couldn’t let you do this alone, my father thinks you’ll find common sense in all of this and i believe him, but you have to ask for help from the right people.”

He looked back at me and started walking towards me and when he reached me without hesitation he threw the door off of me and pointed the gun at my head, and looked back at Brook.

“This f*****g guy can’t help me, he can’t help any of us. My enemies call me Riles so why would I let him help me? I am alone in this world.”

“That is Gore talking not you, you know deep down you’ve never wanted to be alone, you’ve always wanted friends not enemies. Please Hunter, I love you and I don't want to see you in pain anymore let us help you.”

He looked back at me and his face scrunched up as if he were getting ready to pull the trigger but a dart was piercing into his neck. He took it out before falling to the ground. Brook came rushing over to him and cradled his head in her hands.

“He’ll be fine.”

A mysterious man was walking from out of the bushes. Him and some more guys were rushing over to us but before i could get a good look at any of their faces i blacked out again.
