Chapter 15 It's a long story

“When we leave tomorrow for Alexandria, Hunter Riles will attempt to kill me and probably succeed, you must let it happen.”

“I don’t understand, if you know he’s going to try, why let him?”

She looked over at Adam and smiled, then over to Rook.

“Our people have been in this universe for many many years. Our home planet Krill was destroyed in another galaxy. An unexpected asteroid field was slowly but surely making its way towards our star but it was too late to do anything about it. Our leaders Goliath, Gwenithian, and Gore or as you know him staulch, saved as many of us as they could with their ships but out of a planet full with billions of Krillians only about 100,000 of us survived. They were our heroes, our hope for a new beginning, the leaders of our salvation. We roamed the universe for some time before we found your galaxy with your earth but around the time we came here it was only 1776. It was easy enough for us to slip in and disguise ourselves without being noticed and so here we stayed. Although being here did something to Goliath and Gore they started to change. They started to want more and more power and their disguises as human did more than just make them appear human in a way they became human.”

“What’s wrong with that? Was there something bad about us back then?”

She came closer to me and touched my face with her metal hands but they weren’t cold like I expected them to be, they were soft and warm.

“With the exception of few, humans today are not as horrid and greedy as they were all those years ago, take yourself for example. You are a very noble human, brave, and humble, accepting of others and loving. Your newly found wife is very lucky to have you.” 

“How did-”

“An ability all Krillians have which is how Goliath was able to start bringing down the governments of the countries. As i said before humans were different then greedy and power hungry fiends, So it was easy to manipulate them, getting them to spill their government secrets and what not. In the year 2000 is when Goliath set his plan in motion, his plan to control the human race.”

 “He began with the bases in construction and then he would go on to obtain your nuclear launch codes. He would gain information on the U.S. military to get some kind of idea on how we would try and make it seem like we were ‘keeping order’ and finally it took awhile but he would start the chain reaction of rumors. With the help of Gwenthian and Gore the rumors sparked controversy, caused alliances to fall and allies to turn to enemies, and eventually cities would fall. After everything was all said and done the bases would rise from the ground and well the rest leads us to now.”

“Without question many of us followed them willingly but when we looked around at the unnecessary death and violence many of us couldn’t stand it. We tried pleading with our heroes but they would have none of it; they were in control and they cared nothing for our opinions until recently.”

“As you have figured we’ve been gathering allies to try and overthrow Gore, seeing as how he is the leader of this region, we’ve sent him and his council members threats of exposing this whole operation to what remains of our fellow humans, which most of the people here at Avalon know about. There are a couple of other bases that know of the situation but not enough to take on Alexandria. Gore has caught wind of our plans and has requested an audience with me and Rook but I was able to persuade him to think these were my plans and my plans alone and so I can see that he has sent his own son. Typical bastard putting his own son up to do his dirty work, he has to be holding something against him.”

“Wait, are….you saying Riles is the one that’s going to assassinate you?”

“Yes, but when you arrived i could sense fear and anxiety in his heart. He’s scared of losing something and that may be the only reason he is doing this, something his father is holding against him. Although it may not be helpful for me it could be for the future situation and although i did not plan on encountering someone with such high influence from Alexandria this does change things. You may be the key to our salvation, our ending.”

“Look I get it you're trying to take down one of your leaders, but I don't think I have much of an influence over anybody to help get people on our side, I mean the only one that can really do that is the General and he thinks he’s already being watched by staulch as is.”

They all looked at each other.

“I told you this was a waste of time mother we should leave now before-”

“Even if we left my son, where would we go? You are still young and still have much to learn about how beautiful this world can be. Me and Rook we have lived a long time now and we are tired, tired of hiding, tired of being but I won't leave this life without being positive of change.”

“You, Kyle Tank. Please we beg for your help. I know that there is something you and your general can do and if you can not help us then this world will never recover. The ships of our heroes have the means to rebuild your cities, maybe not their original glory but to possibly something better, all I ask is that you at least try.”

I hesitated for a while but I finally agreed. Of course i wanted to help but i didn’t expect to have to gather forces. She finished explaining that the three leaders had warriors among the ranks which explains people like Erwin and for sure explains how staulch would know everything without actually hearing it. This was crazy but a crazy i was jumping head first into.
