Chapter 16 Hunter Riles

“What is your name?”

“Hunter Riles.”“Who am i?”

“My father.”

“Good, do you have any friends?”

“No, I am alone...i have no friends.”

“Excellent now you can see your mother.”

My mother? She was…..tiny and frail and i would always ask if she was ok and she would always insist she was fine but deep down i knew she wasn’t fine. I wish I was brave enough to stand up to this monster but….i can’t he is too strong for me. I hate him.

“Hmmm you know me and my trusted partner versus you and yours, i think i like the sound of that. Although i think we’ll see who’s better at the end of this mission.” 

Why? Why am I here? I hate being a puppet…..all i want is to know is if my mother is ok. Is she even alive? Father says he will let her go if I succeed on this mission or fail as everyone seems to think. We arrived at Base Avalon, and Gordo was a woman. I assumed she was a man, father always referred to her as a he. This isn’t the first time he’s lied to get me on a mission. He knows i would never harm a woman f*****g bastard.

“Yo, Riles snap out of it, this isn’t the time to be day dreaming.”

“Huh what?”

“As i was saying young Riles, Gordo is very willing to go and speak to Gor- i mean Staulch and answer for her crimes against Goliath.”

I didn’t answer him so Erwin spoke for me.

“Good then, everything seems to be in order for our ride back tomorrow morning. Just remember Rook, the next time anyone tries to betray Goliath there will be hell to pay.”

We both got up and walked out of the office.

“Riles what the hell? Don’t chicken out on me now get a f*****g grip so its a woman a traitor. She deserves what's coming to her and i can’t wait to get rid of those two imbeciles in the process.”

As he was talking Brook appeared from around the corner. She was blushing at me. Erwin smirked at the both of us.

“I guess i'll leave you two alone, don’t forget we’re here for a reason, and if you want to see your mom again you’ll get it together.”

When he said that I wanted to give him a good punch in the nose but I had to keep my cool. Brook notioned for me to follow her and she led me back to her room. We had s*x which it had been a while since we last did. Brook was beautiful but young and innocent and yet she knew what i was here to do but yet she still loved me. 

When we were done we lay there for a while not talking but enjoying each other's presence.

“Brook, why do you love me?”

She giggled and pushed harder into my chest.

“Even though you try your best to give off this bad boy vibe, you’re kind, and loyal, and very fun to be around. You make me laugh when i’m down and you believe that i could be more than what i am. Which everyone around here thinks i'm just a scared little daddies girl.”

I brushed my hands through her hair.

“You’re too good for me, you know that?”

“I don’t care, I want to be with you, I love you and you don’t have to kill Gordo. We could run away together and go somewhere isolated.”

“You know that's impossible, they would find us eventually.”

She raised up to look at me.

“Don’t you see Hunter? Staulch is using you for his dirty work he has been your entire life, we both know your mother is-”

“Don’t...don’t you say it, she’s not dead she’s alive i know she’s alive. I have to see her one more time no matter what happens.”

“Then i am coming with you tomorrow.”

“Are you crazy, if he found out i loved someone other than my mother he would use you against me….just like my mother. I have to do this alone.”

She touched my face with her soft hands and I leaned into it.

“No you don't, we can ask for help. Please let me help you.”

“I can’t Brook, if i lose you then i'll have nothing left to live for. Promise me you’ll stay here and you won't get involved.”

She only sighed and leaned back into my chest where we would fall asleep. But i couldn’t really sleep of course i did not want to do these stupid missions of course i didn’t want to kill Gordo i didn’t want to kill anyone, but i would do anything if i could see my mother. She had been locked away from the light most of my life she was innocent in everything and here this f*****g monster from another world was keeping her from me. This monster who is supposed to be my father who only uses me to get what he needs.
