CEREMONY AND MATE

I woke up to noises coming from the kitchen. It’s my birthday. I am finally 16. I can find my mate today. My life is going to change I am so happy about that. I’ll get my wolf at midnight and I’ll be with my mate by then. Nothing will change my mood. My bedroom door was ripped open and my father threw a dress at me. 

“You have to be at the ceremony. Wear this. Don’t mess up and stay in the back. I don’t want anyone seeing you.” He said with hate. He just wishes I could stay locked up today. 

The Luna came to see me and I put my head down bowing to her. 

“I want you to double check all of the decorations make sure it’s all perfect. Is that understood Ava?”

“Yes Luna” I said in the smallest voice I could. Before she left she said something I never expected to hear from her.

“Happy Birthday.” She said as she left. 

I was so stunned by her saying that I didn’t know what to do or even say. I just stood there. I went out quickly and checked everything to make sure everything. As I was running around I saw some of the caterers putting stuff in the wrong place. I quickly went to them and fixed it. I handed them the detail plan to look over and they thanked me. I knew they were new because I have never seen any of them. As I went to check out the rest of things I saw a few things dirty so I quickly cleaned everything as fast as I could. I don’t have full wolf abilities yet but I am slowly starting to get them speed is one of them thank the Goddess for that. Once I finished with all of that I saw Nina coming in all dressed and ready. She walked up to me and nudged me. I followed her silently till we got to my room. Once inside the small room that barely fit us, might I add. 

“Happy Birthday Ava!!!” she said with excitement. 

“Thank you, Nina, I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for you. I just want you to know how much you mean to me.” I said as I was starting to tear up. 

“You don’t need to thank me Ava. You’re like my little sister. I just hope everything goes well tonight.” She was smiling at me. 

I was excited I got to take an actual warm shower. Not a cold one. I was even allowed to take longer than 5 minutes. I scrubbed my hair twice with shampoo and conditioned it twice as well. I washed my body a few times. I never get long enough to enjoy anything and after I was done I let the hot water run down my body to help relax me. I could feel the sting on some of my open cuts. That didn’t bother me, because I could also feel my muscles relaxing and not so tense under the hot water. When I finally got out my skin was all red from the hot water. I went and looked in the mirror while I brushed my hair. It was fogged up but I just wiped it away. I could see all the bruises and cuts and scars on my body.  I hated that I looked like this. I hate looking in the mirror. It hasn’t been as bad lately because my face wasn’t so bad. My light blue eyes still look dull and lifeless. And my long brown hair was down to my lower back since I haven’t cut it in years. My hair fell down in curls. Being 5 foot 9 inches is are for a she wolf. I am just hoping that means my wolf is big. Our wolves are bigger and normal wolves. I have never met a wolf in wolf form that was under 6 foot. Even then that was Nina and she’s an Omega. Alpha’s and Beta’s wolfs are all about 7 foot or taller, some are smaller if they weren’t born an alpha or beta. Tonight, is the night ill meet my wolf. I’ll be able to shift for the first time. That has me more excited than meeting my mate. In all honestly, I want to meet my mate. The one that the Goddess hand-picked for me. I am also scared because of how I look. 

I was doing my hair like Nina taught me. I straightened my hair and put it up in a high bun. I left some hair to frame my face and for me to braid and wrap it around the base of my bun. Then once I felt it was good enough and Nina would be proud of it since she has been helping me to learn some of this stuff instead of just putting it up in a pony tail or messy bun. I looked at the make up that Nina brought me. I don’t really like make up even with all the bruises and everything. I applied eyeliner on the base of my eye lashes on the top and bottom. I then added a sparkly golden eye shadow and mascara. My eye lashes are naturally long and have a curl at the ends. I only put enough on to make them stand out a bit more and just enough on the bottom to make them stand out a little bit. I went for a bright red lip with a little bit of gloss on them. When I looked in the mirror I was stunned to say the least. I have never really done this much before or all together even practicing. I just looked so different I couldn’t believe it was me. I am so use to just not looking in the mirror that I couldn’t believe this was even me.

I put on the dress that my father gave me. I stood here looking at myself. In all honesty it was a beautiful dress. It was a light baby blue dress. It had a sweetheart neckline with no straps. The top part of my dress was like a corset and then the bottom half flowed smoothly down to the ground. Even though I don’t get to eat I still have big hips and thighs with a smaller waist. My boobs are a D and my butt isn’t small either. I am thick but in all the right places is what Nina tells me. Everyone else just tells me I’m fat. The dress has sparkles and beading everywhere. They bunched up at the top and as they went down it began to spread out more. It have the dress a nice glow to it with the beading being silver and white. I wore flats that matched the dress. I don’t want to wear heals because I have never walked in the. 

When Nina came and got me she just stood there looking at me. I couldn’t understand why she just stood there with her mouth open. 

“Nina are you okay?” I asked as she shook her head.

“Yes, Ava I am good. You look so stunning. I am so proud of you. You are going to be the prettiest she wolf their girl.” She was still just staring at me. 

“Can we go now I want to get this over with.” I said and looked down. 

“When we walk in don’t look down. Hold your head up. They’ll all be staring but ignore them all unless one is your mate. You deserve one night of happiness. One night to enjoy yourself for everything. Don’t let any of them take this away you did all of this on your own. You made it all special.” She said as she grabbed my arm. The first person we ran into was her mate and he just stared at me also. 

“Hun did we get a new pack member?” He asked her. 

“NO babe this is Ava. The girl who busts her ass day and night to take care of everyone and make sure we are all fed. And have a clean home. AND EVEN DID ALL OF THIS BY HESELF.” Nina was getting mad I could tell. 

“Nina it’s okay you can’t defend me in front of anyone. Please don’t start. It won’t end well for either of us.” I looked at her and hugged her. 

“Babe I am so sorry I didn’t mean to upset you but Ava is right it won’t end well. We are just supposed to escort her to the ballroom. I didn’t mean to offend you babe. I know how hard Ava works around here. You know none of us should even talk to her the punishment with be banishment or worse death if Beta finds out.” He said trying to calm his mate down. 

“Nina its fine really. I know who I am. I know what my life is. I may not know why it’s this way but my life is. No one can fix it without both them and me being punished. I just don’t want to see you hurt. You’re the only one who has cared for me since I have been a little girl and you came to the pack. Please I don’t want anything to happen to you. Promise no matter what tonight you’ll stick with your mate to keep calm. I don’t need another beating tonight with all the unmated Alphas visiting. If I don’t meet my mate I know what’s going to happen. If he rejects me I know what will happen. So Please promise me you’ll stay with you mate to stay calm. I am going to try and stay hidden best I can tonight. Betas are both really still pissed from last night. I need to know your safe Nina.” I was begging her by the end. 

“Fine but just because it’s your birthday and you’ll find your mate and hell love you.” She said as we continued to walk to the ballroom. 

Her mate didn’t say anything else the whole way and once we were in the ballroom I noticed how everyone stopped and stared at me. I went in a different direction than Nina and her mate and found a dark corner to sit in. I didn’t want to be noticed by anyone I was okay with just being in the background like always. 

I looked around the ballroom. It looks completely different with the lighting. You can see the flowers all on the table and some are still glowing but when someone touches them they stop glowing. I have been sneaking around the room to touch them so they start glowing. I gave up on it. To many wolves trying to see them. The ballroom had different lights all around the room and all kinds of colors. Everyone was dressed in different suits and dresses. Everything was placed how the Luna wanted. I could hear the compliments she was getting. I know I did a good job. I always make sure everything is done the way she wants it done. 

I was just standing there and I noticed how everyone was enjoying the night and dancing eating and drinking. I saw mates dancing and even Nina and her mate. I decided I needed some air so I decided to go outside and get some fresh air. Once I was outside I went to the very corner of the patio by the far end of the house. As I was watching all the younger members talking and laughing I honestly don’t know how to feel. Most the time I just stay in my room when these things go on. I honestly hate that I am nothing special to the pack. No matter what I do I am disgrace to them. So, I do my best to stay hidden. Luckily no one has seen me since I first walked in. At least that’s a bonus. I was standing here looking at all the white lights that light up the trees and wrap around the patio and the moon flowers. I made sure the ones closet to me glow. They just look prettier when they glow. As I am admiring everything I noticed the Alpha has started to gather everyone for the ceremony since Jake will be coming down any minute now. As everyone starts to take their place I go and stand in the back. There were enough chairs for all the Alpha’s and the high-ranking members who are all here. Then Jake comes out of the house and walks over to the stage where Alpha and Luna are along with the elders of the pack to start the ceremony. 

“Do you Jake Aiden Mathews promise to protect, lead and guide the Blue Moon Ridge Pack. To fight and protect everyone with your life. To have the strength and courage for all. To guide them in life, and to be the Alpha that this pack deserves.” Alpha William said. 

“I do” Jake replied. 

He took jakes hand and cut a slice in his palm and one on him. They shook hands and you could feel the power transfer to the new Alpha. 

“By the power the Moon Goddess has given me I know give the Blue Moon Ridge Pak their new Alpha. ALPHA JAKE!” Alpha William said.

“Let’s celebrate!!!!!” Alpha Jake yelled.

With that the party really got started. Everyone started drinking and dancing. I knew it wouldn’t be long before I shifted. I went into the woods into a little clearing I found when my life changed. The one place I can feel peace and relief about my life. I am always calm here. There are flowers everywhere and you can see them blowing in the wind. Then you have the river running. The smells and noises help calm me and help remind me that there is still good in this world. As I was sitting on the grass the most amazing smell of rosemary and mint hit my nose. It was mouthwatering and I knew what this meant. My mate was near. I could smell him getting closer and closer to me as I just stayed sitting here. Waiting because I could tell he was coming to find me. As soon as he stepped into the clearing I knew something wasn’t right.  Alpha Jake. One of my biggest bullies in the pack. He is the 4th worst. My mother and father are 1st and 2nd while my brother holds number 3. He sniffs the air. I guess he thought he was looking in the wrong place. I only have a few minutes before I start shifting. 

“Well, slave. Looks like your suppose to be my mate. HAHAHA. Seriously what was the Moon Goddess thinking. I can’t have a weak ugly fat w***e for my Luna. I can’t have you as my Luna. I don’t know what she was =thinking. What have I ever done to deserve you. YOUR JUST WEAK AND PATHETIC!!!!!” He spit each word out like it was venom. I could feel the tears running down my face. I knew that I couldn’t do anything to stop him. I knew that no matter he wouldn’t change his mind. He doesn’t want me. “I ALPHA JAKE AIDEN MATHEWS OF THE BLUE MOON RIDGE PACK REJECT YOU AVA RHEA EVANS AS MY MATE AND LUNA.” He said with his Alpha tone.

So, I knew what I had to do. I stood up from the ground as I felt my heart and soul are breaking into pieces and being shattered. I looked him straight into his eyes while I said.

“I Ava Rhea Evans Accept your Rejection Alpha Jake Aiden Mathews.” 

After I said that he looked sad and hurt. You could see he was fighting with his wolf. And his wolf was trying to take over but before he could I bolted. I started running back to the pack house not even caring about my shift anymore. Once I got to the back yard I could feel myself starting the shift. I dropped to the ground and screamed so loud everyone stopped and looked where it was coming from. I could see Nina in the crowd looking at me trying to encourage me. All this pain and the rejection pain were worse than any beating, worse than anything I have ever been through. As everyone was gathering around to see why I was screaming. Some of the Alphas and Lunas came closer to me and I could hear one saying she’s shifting. Honestly, I wanted to reply and be a smartass but I couldn’t. I started to feel like I was on fire. 

“Has she found her mate?” Someone asked. 

“Rejected.” Was all I could say before I screamed again, but this scream seemed to shatter all the glass in the backyard and on the house. I could hear people gasping as I said that. I could feel someone approaching me and I looked it was my father.  He slapped me so hard across the face I started to see black dots. Then I saw Nina run up to me trying to talk to me. I couldn’t focus on anything as the fire running threw my body seemed to intensify. I felt her grab my face and force me to look at her. Behind her was her mate and Luna Sophia. I could see that they all wanted to know what happened as my hearing slowly came back I could hear Nina telling me to focus and to breath. I started to breath more and that’s when Alpha Jake came from the woods. He took one look at me then at everything around. After he was done with that he started asking everyone questions. My father tried to come approach me again but what happened shocked everyone. There was a gust of wind so strong it sent him flying back. Then when anyone other than Nina tried to come near me it happened again. 

“You stupid w***e! What the f**k is wrong with you.” My father yelled at me.  

I felt a change in body. Everything looked like I was watching a movie. 

“Come near my human again and you’ll be dead.” I said. Well it was but wasn’t me. I guess It was my wolf. ‘Yes, Ava I am hear no one can hurt us again. NO ONE will hurt us again. Just trust in me. The goddess has a plan for everything. I am sorry the change is going to take a long time. I don’t know how long. I am Star by the way.’ “How could you take control of our body when I haven’t shifted yet?” ‘We are special. Just breath I’ll take control and give that man a piece of my mind. I won’t stay here with that jerk. We can leave and ill protect us and train you. It is your choice but it won’t be right away since shifting is going to take a lot out of you.’ “OK” 

“You people are disgusting treating her like a slave. Bulling her. Selling her to any Alpha that will pay your price. What do you think would happen? Huh? You have all stood by and watched and let this go on. She is kind. I am not. I am the opposite of her.” Star said. “I am important to the goddess. She thought y’all would see that with the flowers being lit for the ceremony. Yet you are supposed to be her father and mother. When she didn’t do anything to deserve to be treated like this. How much money has she made y’all every time y’all sell her to someone for them to beat and r**e her? How many times was she bleeding and bruised and beaten but still got up and did what y’all wanted. Oh, and don’t think I forgot about that i***t of a mate. You were blessed to have her as a mate. Because even with everything that has happened she never once broke. She never once let the darkness you bring into her life to change her views. She has stayed strong. You know she only ever prayed for a few things to our Goddess. Strength. Kindness. For her to help those who are suffering. Never once for the abuse to stop not once for Alphas to not r**e her. Not once for her family hating her and beating her. I am stronger than anyone here. Because by all the silver and wolfsbane you have injected her with over her life. She has grown a large tolerance to it. Y’all call her weak and pathetic. Answer this how is someone so weak that they take the torture in silence. That they take the pain. Yet still has a heart of gold. A heart that you can’t break. Even when you have tried to break it.” After she said all that she retreated to the back of my mind. I screamed again. It was painful I could feel my muscles and tendons reshaping themselves but at slow painstaking pace. I looked at Nina. She had tears in her eyes as you could tell this was going to take a long time. ‘It’s almost time Ava. I know it hurts but hang in there your bones should start to change soon.’ 

“OK.” I answered her out loud. I was waiting for everything to be done the fire started getting worse and nothing could be done to help it. I just laid here crying and waiting trying to breathe thru all of it. I could hear the pop and the breaking of my bones to reshape to my wolf form. When I looked down I could see white fur starting to come out of my skin as I am finally going to finish the change. When It was all over everyone gasped as I stood up. I looked at Nina and c****d my head to the side. ‘Watch this we can mind-link any wolf. Focus who you want to talk to and once we do you can talk to anyone no matter where you are.’ I did what Star said. I focused on Nina

“Nina why is everyone looking at me like that?”

“How are you able to mind-link me?” She asked out loud. 

“I don’t know, Star said I could I just had to focus on making a connection with you and it would work. She said that no matter where I am I will be able to mind-link you know because it’s not like a mate connection or a pack connection. Nina can I see what my wolf looks like?” 

“Of course.” She keeps taking out loud so everyone can hear us. 

‘Watch this Ava we have cool stuff we can do. No one can ever hurt us again.’ Star said. 

I let her take control again but this time there was a water wall in front of me before anyone could move. I can see my wolf is huge. I look like I am 7 foot 6 inches. I have pure white fur. Light purple eyes that are glowing and a blue crescent moon on my forehead. It’s said that means I am chosen but for what I have no clue. I could feel someone trying to approach me but I didn’t care I surround me and Nina by the water so they couldn’t hurt her. I knew what my father would do if he got his hands on her for helping me.

I could hear people screaming. I could feel her mate trying to get to her. I let down a small section of the water and he ran in and went to Nina. 

“Babe are you ok?” He asked her as he stood between me and her. I growled at him and he growled back. I thought about connecting his mind to mine and as soon as I felt it I looked at him.

“I won’t hurt her. I am protecting her from the people who will hurt her for helping me.”

I could see the shock on his face as he realized I was mind-linking him. I sit down and look at Nina and whine. 

“How do I shift back Nina?”

She looked at me and she took a deep breath. I could still hear everyone outside the shield trying to get in but if they touch the water they go flying backwards. They can see us and we can see them but I need to shift back. ‘Ava when you shift we can still use our powers to protect Nina. We are one now. I can teach you how.’ Nina looks at me, “think of your human self Ava. Your hair, eyes, nose, hands and feet. Think of how you look and you can shift back hunny.”

I do as she says and start thinking about my human form. I can feel myself changing back and it was a lot faster and there was no pain at all. Once I shifted I noticed I still had my clothes on. I smiled for once in my life. I was happy no one would see all my scars. I stand in front of Nina in a protective stance. Once I have shifted back all the Alpha’s and Luna’s are looking at me shocked. I see my father yelling at me but I know they can’t hear us but we can hear them inside my barrier. 

“Nina you are going to need to find a safe place to go. Beta will kill you for helping me. Why would you do that? It’s not safe for you now. Its dangerous. He won’t like that you went against his order.”

“Ava who is your mate? You said he rejected you.”

“Yes, I was running from him when I got back here. I forgot about shifting. My wolf’s name is Star. She said that Goddess does everything for a reason. That we will be leaving. Alpha Jake is my mate. He rejected me. I won’t let it tear me down. Nothing can. After everything I have had to deal with. Now you’re in trouble. How am I going to keep you safe if I can’t control my powers? I don’t even know what all the powers I have. Nina what do I do? I can’t let them hurt you. “I started rambling ways to keep her safe and her mate growled at me and I growled back ten times louder. I don’t want them hurting ava because of me. 

“Alpha Jake wants you to take down the water barrier.” Her mate said. “I wasn’t growling at you. I am growling because He is yelling in my head right now and its getting on my nerves. I know you want to help Nina but that’s my job. Even if I have to save her from the beta. She is my mate and ill protect her.”

“I’m not doubting that but I know them they won’t do it with you around. They will do the same stuff to me. Get others to do stuff when they think no one is around. Nina has saved me more than once from all the injuries they have cause me.” I tell him seriously. I let the barrier fall half way and opening above us. “That’s as much as I am doing till I know she will be 100% safe even if I have to follow her around.” ‘No one must know I am going to leave they will try and stop me.’ I say through the mind-link to them. 

“EVERYONE GO HOME ONLY ALPHAS, LUNAS AND BETAS STAY THAT’S AN ORDER” Alpha Jake yells. I don’t let Nina or her mate out. Instead I turn to them and mind-link them. ‘Can you go back to your old pack Nina?’ she shook her head yes to me. I smiled at her. And took the water barrier down. 

“Well I’m going to bed. I am tired. Nina mind-link me if anything happens.” I looked at my father. “Hurt her or try and you’ll be in serious trouble.” With that I head to my little room but before I go to sleep Star put up a barrier around my room so nothing can get in and I was able to sleep peacefully.
