Chapter 10 Cody ?

1132 Words
I picked up my pace as the clouds above begin to rumble, I really didn’t want to get court out in the open during a thunderstorm. The rain begins to fall just as I got to the train station. I got a little bit wet. People were rushing around everywhere, pushing on each other, walking into each other, you would think there was a fire or the end of the world. I made my way to a wall away from the turnstiles but where I could still see them. The station was built on a ground level pedestrian tunnel that connected two roads, with the platforms being elevated above the tunnel. There appeared to be about 8 double sided platforms. In the tunnel there was a ticket booth, ticket machines, a food vendor, food and drink dispensing machines and TV screens attached to the ceiling with information about each platform other then that it was just a mass of people trying to leave the city and get home before the storm. How am I going to find my brother in this sea of people? I guess that at the very least I am dry for now. I watch the people swarm in and split off to squeeze through the turnstiles and filter up the ramps. It was mesmerizing.  I heard a commotion behind me from the other entrance. There was some woman screeching about a wall and watching where you walk etc. Then I saw him, a head of thick dark curls popping up above the sea of people. Cody! No way! I found him. I pushed my way through the crowd calling out his name as happy tears began to fall down my face. Cody stopped suddenly, I guess he finally heard his name being called, as he did people seemed to bounce off him before walking around him. I started to jump up waving my hands like an i***t. The wind came charging down the tunnel making him turn his head in my direction if he didn’t want dirt blown in his face. He is looking straight at me, I smile and wave to him. Cody looks at me a bit confused and walks over “hi can I help you?” he askes. I punch him in the shoulder “very funny, you i***t, it’s me Leizi as in your one and only baby sister, seriously.” He looks at me and suddenly recognition hits “but, but, Leizi the last time I saw you, you were still a kid when did you become a woman? What are you doing here? “. “I left mother, you did say that I should come and find you once I turned 18 so here I am” I smile up at him. Cody takes me into a big bear hug, and we stay like that for a bit with people swarming around us. Cody pulls back “you got somewhere to stay?” he looks at the backpack on my back “of course you do my place, come let’s get you a ticket”. He takes me over to the booth and buys a ticket for me and before I knew it, we were on a packed train heading out to the suburbs. We couldn’t really talk on the train as there were just too many people. Cody was texting one handed most of the way. I guess he had plans to make or change because of my sudden appearance. I looked out the window and the storm was in full force now. It was like the heaven’s themselves were angry. Leizi are you ok? I mumbled out a “yes can’t talk too many people”. I was worried after I heard about what Seb had done. “Any injured” I mumbled. Two of my water sprites but they should recover soon enough. “I’m sorry” I mumbled while trying not to cry. They were hurt trying to protect me, I didn’t know how but I will make it up to them somehow. You found your brother I am glad for you. Some of my people had to knock over a few signs and I had to make it rain down harder away from you to get him to turn around and head in your direction, but it worked which is what matters. I understand that you can’t talk right now. I will leave one of my personal guards with you and we will speak again tonight when you are alone. And with that I felt his presence leave. When me got to the right stop Cody and I got off the train unto an open platform in the rain. “Follow me. I will run ahead to my car and unlock it, just jump in, ok” and having said that Cody took off at a sprint. Luckily, he is so tall I can follow easily enough. Why do people always freak out when it rains? It’s just water. I follow Cody to a large 4x4 4 door truck, painted in a dark blue almost black colour. I throw my backpack and bags into the back seat before climbing into the front passenger seat. “Home James” I say in my best British accent like when we were kids. Cody laughs. “No can-do boss, I need to pick up another passenger. Can’t leave the best cook in the house to walk home in the rain. Now, can I?”.” I guess not. Food is way to important to mess around with” I jokingly reply. It doesn’t matter how much time passes between visits cause once we are back together, we just fall back in step with each other. We drive for a bit before pulling over to the side and a tallish maybe 6-foot-tall guy climbs in the back seat pushing the bags out of his way. “Leizi this is Keith, Keith met Leizi, my little sis. Leizi is going to be staying with us a for a bit.” Cody did the introductions. “Cool” says Keith and I reply with a “hi” in return. Cody points the car back onto the road as we all sit quietly as Cody tries to drive through the heavy rain. In no time at all we turn into a driveway with a nice cream brick house with a double carport in front of a double garage. The rain had eased off where we were. I think a certain someone is letting me get inside before the downpour really begins.
