Chapter 6 Buses are boring

1520 Words
Now that I am alone with my own thoughts my mind and emotions start to scream. What the hell is going on. What was up with that Seb? I don’t think I can trust someone who lies so easily. Why did he have to fight me when I tried to get him out of my mind? Oh no! I might have just pissed of a demi-god, oh no, oh no, ummm what am I going to do. He could destroy me. I don’t mean just kill me but really destroy me and everything around me. No, no, no, but Thor said that they aren’t really demi-gods but elementals but is that any better? I don’t know. Should I try to apologize to Seb? I don’t really think that I did anything wrong. He intruded into my mind, he lied to me, and he tried to manipulate me. But to what end? Why did they come to me? Why me? I’m nothing special. I have always been told that I am weird, a strange little girl, that was unlovable. That I was unlikable as people don’t like being called out on their lies, but really why do people have to lie so much as they aren’t fooling anyone are they?               The bus turned off the highway into a roadhouse. The driver announced over the PA “Hello everyone, it’s time to wake up, we are coming into the scheduled stop to refill with fuel, grab a meal and stretch those legs. Everyone will need to disembark, you can go inside or walk around the park area. We will be stopping for 45 minutes. The roadhouse well make an announcement at the 10 minutes before, 5 minutes then go to the bus parking bay and get back on the bus before it leaves without you.” People laughed quietly. Someone called out “but can’t we just stay on the bus if we want too”. The driver takes a deep breath I guess he gets this a lot “once everyone is off the bus it will be driven over to the fuel pumps to be refueled and will be locked at all times. I can’t leave someone on the bus with everyone else’s belongings. So, everyone will be getting off the bus no exceptions”.               We pulled in and disembarked the bus, most people went inside the roadhouse to get food or drinks. I looked around looking for the park. I saw the park was off to one side of the building and had some bench tables and climbing equipment, it was out in the weather. I headed over to the park as I did not want to head inside when I didn’t have any money to buy anything with. There is nothing more embracing than sitting in a café and not ordering anything. It had stopped snowing, but everything is covered in a thick coating of snow. Due to the snow, I had the whole park to myself.               I was enjoying the coldness, solitude and stretching my legs when one of the wait staff called to me by a door. “Hay, hello out there. You might want to come inside it’s freezing out there.” “I’m ok really, I like the snow it’s so pretty out here” I call back to the middle-aged lady who was in a waitress uniform. “Oh sweetie” she looked at me then the ground then back at me and tried again “because of all the snow my boss is giving out free hot chocolate, sorely you don’t want to miss out, now do you”. I could tell she wasn’t going to give up, bless her heart, she was looking very worried about me. Me a complete stranger. So, I started to walk over to her. Once she noticed I was coming over I could hear her mumble “oh thank god”. It’s so strange that people that me know are never kind to me but complete strangers sometimes are. I followed the lady inside the building, and she pointed to the center of the room “there’s a wood fire going over there if you want to warm yourself up and you can take a seat anywhere you like, and I will bring you that drink ok”. I said thankyou and went over to an empty table off to one side away from the crowd but where I could see my driver.               The waitress brought over a mug of hot chocolate with 2 large marshmallows floating on top and a bowl of hot chips. “Um thanks for the hot choc but I didn’t order any chips” I say to her. “Oh, don’t worry about that I had to empty the tray before putting in the new ones and I thought you might like them” she smiled at me “better to feed you than the bin”. “That’s nice of you, but I don’t have any money” I say to her in a quite voice. “That’s ok, I kind of figured that was the case. Are you in some kind of trouble? Do you need me to call someone?” the lady asked. “I’m ok, I am on my way to visit family, I just had all my savings stolen before I left town, so I don’t have any money on me” I informed the lady. “That’s terrible, well enjoy the chips and I’ll see what I can do” replied the lady before going to check her other tables. I smiled as I was really hungry, and the food was welcomed.               What am I going to do about this whole situation with the elementals and such? Why would they go into the mind of a human? What’s up with the whole story time nonsense? Perun is so handsome, he conducts himself like a gentleman. Why have I been seeing him in my dreams for years when I only just met him? It’s all so confusing. I look out the window into the snow. Perun said he would leave someone to watch over me. I wonder who or what that is? Am I safe? Why would he have someone watch over me if I wasn’t in some sort of danger. My head hurts. This is all too much. Perun say’s that I have fey abilities as I can hear his thoughts in my mind, and we can communicate outside of dream scapes and I could feel him even though I can’t see him. I need to distract myself from thoughts of Perun as I don’t know enough, and I could lose my mind over this guy. I wonder where I got these abilities from and if I have always had them. Or were they triggered by my contact with the brothers, maybe, it’s too hard to know. I deliberate if I have any other skills or powers that I am unaware of.               The lady come by my table once again and placed a toasted sandwich on the table in front of me. “Enjoy and don’t worry about the cost it’s just a sandwich” the lady smiled at me before she walked away. I looked at the food in front of me I am not used to kindness, but I am too hungry to refuse. I have no way to pay for my meal, but I am thankful so a grabbed a napkin from the holder and got out one of my pens and draw a little chibi girl in a parka and scarf with snowflakes falling around her with the caption “THANKYOU”. I figured that even if I couldn’t pay, I could at least show my appreciation. The PA announced that my bus would be leaving soon and that everyone should get ready to leave and make their way to bay 6. I quickly finished off my food, stacked up the dishes and left the drawing face up before making my way to the bus. After boarding the bus, I went to the same seat I was in before. Once we were back on our way again, I whisper “hello I don’t know if your there Perun or who ever he left for me please let him know that I really need some proper sleep this time or I will be too tired when I arrive at my destination. Can he please wait to talk to me again until I awake again? Thanks.” And with that I fell into a deep sleep.
