Chapter 7 New City

HIS VIEW POINT []

              [Indra went to track down his brother as he suddenly felt the need to protect this human girl. She had fay blood in her he was sure of it. Which meant that she was probably going to be in more danger from his brother than she already was for making him leave her mind. He smiled to himself she was definitely strong of mind and will. She was so open with him even though he was a stranger to her. Indra wonders why did she look so shocked when she saw him, she didn’t really loose her temper with Tialoc until she looked at him. What did she mean by ‘stole’ his visage? Leizi had looked at him like she knew him, and she seems quite comfortable in his presence. Indra spoke more to himself than to anyone else “there is more to that girl than there appears”. Indra hadn’t noticed that one of his water sprites was near to him until it spoke “would you like for me to investigate and see what I can find out for you, my master?”. Indra turned to the sprite “please do and whatever you discover you are to report it to me and me alone and in private.” “Yes, my lord” and with that the sprite was gone.  

              Indra discovered Tialoc siting on some rocks above a road. Great thought Indra his in one of his moods, here comes a landslide. “Brother I’ve found you,” said Indra. “So have you killed that b***h yet?” spat out Tialoc. “No, I haven’t and I am not going to” replied Indra as Tialoc turned to him with anger all over his face. Indra held up his hand “wait Tialoc and hear me out. She shouldn’t have realized that we were in her mind, but she did. The false memories didn’t take either. This has ever happened before that I know of and if humans are evolving then this is something that needs to be investigated first. Wouldn’t you agree?”. Tialoc stared at his brother trying to let reason in and not give into his anger nor hatred of humans, he would not let his brother see him lose control. “Fine then what is it that you suggest?” retorted Tialoc. “Well as Leizi seems to prefer my presence how about I take over this case. It helps that it is wintertime here so I can see to my duties at the same time. How about you go to a different continent and find another human for testing and take one of our sisters to assist you. Darago would love to help you, she has always preferred your company to mine” suggested Indra. Tialoc got a small smirk on his face. Gaia save the people as when ever Tialoc and Darago get together a volcano normally blows it’s top, but what else would you except of earth ad fire. “May I suggest Greenland or Iceland” suggested Indra trying to put as much distance between them as he could. Tialoc stood kicking boulders onto the road and respond “that sounds like a good idea brother. I shall go find Darago and tell her of our plans. We should meet up again at the next full moon. Sounds good right?”. “Sure” agrees Indra “how about we meet up at Zise Island as it’s a nice uninhabited place.” “Agreed” replied Tialoc and he quickly disappeared.]

              BACK TO LEIZI

The bus came into the capital city the next morning. The only information that Leizi had to find her brother was that he was working at a construction site for a high-rise building being built along the river that cuts through the city center and should be completed at the end of the year. After Leizi got off the bus she walked around looking for an information booth or map as she had never been to this city before. After leaving the bus terminal she found there was a major train station next door, as she entered the building there were a couple of people standing around in purple safety vests with ‘INFORMATION’ stenciled on the back with a logo over their left breast.

“Excuse me but could you help me?” I asked of the purple vest wearing people. They both turned to me all smiles “yes! Where are you looking at visiting or do you need help with ideas” one of the elderly men replied. “I am looking for a high-rise building that’s still under construction that is being built on the river that goes through the CBD” I inform the men. They blink a few times, I guess this isn’t a normal request to get but they are trying really hard not to make me feel uncomfortable. “Let’s get you a map” says the man on my left pulling a fold out map from his satchel bag. “Hmm if I remember properly there is a new government building being built here” he says as he points to a spot on the map near a bridge right on the river.  “Oh, and there they are building new tennis courts with extra buildings down by there’ the other man points at a different spot further down the river. I take a multi colour pen from my inside pocket and mark the two locations. Only two big construction jobs happening on the river should make it easy to find my brother. “Oh, don’t forget there is also that multi story accommodation cluster of buildings being built next to the river it’s just outside the CBD on this part of the river” the man points to a section on the boarder of the map. “Thanks, that’s a great help” I say to them. “There are a lot more construction sites throughout the city and about 6 or 8 on the city blocks that are next to the river even if the buildings themselves aren’t being built right on the river. Do you want them as well?” the man on my right asks me. Oh no that’s a lot I think “could you mark them in green on the map for me please and put a star on the map where we are too would be a great help, thanks” I reply. The man on my right takes my pen and marks out the locations telling me that it’s just a ruff guide before handing me back my pen and the map I thank them once again and leave the building.

I have quite the hunt ahead of me to find my brother. I walk towards the river and the first location. As I near the river I can see a little park which has flower beds, trees, and benches. I seat down on one of the benches under a tree. I need to think this through. I can’t walk onto a construction site as they don’t just let anyone on site. Large construction jobs hire lots of people so the chance of anyone knowing my brother or being willing to talk to me are slim. I could sit near the front entrance of a site for a day and look out for my brother and if I don’t see him then try the next site the following day. But that could take days to do, siting in the cold and the rain. I have no money and I don’t know the city and the idea of sleeping ruff on the streets with no food doesn’t really appeal to me.  Look around me and as there is no one close by I whisper “hello there. Perun said that he would leave someone to watch over me. If it’s ok, could you help me? I need to find someone, his is my brother, I really need his help” I place a photo that I have of him on the bench next to me “his name is Cody, and as you can see in the photo, he is bigger than me. He should be working in a building that’s being built somewhere along this river. I could really do with some help to find him.” The wind whipped up around me lifting the photo into the air where it floated around before coming to land next to me.
