Face to Face

Abby’s POV “I have never had ice cream this early in the day.” I say as we both finish the medium cups, we both had. Dylan chuckles, wow he sounds even better when he chuckles. “Well, you can think of it as desert.” He says making us both laugh. The breakfast we both had was huge. I have never eaten like that in my entire life. I always just have a cup of coffee with a muffin or sandwich sometimes just a glass of milk and a fruit. “You can have whatever you want when we are together.” He says making me laugh. “You sound like a father spoiling his child and asking them not to tell their mommy that daddy let them have ice cream this early.” I say which makes him laugh. I bet people passing by are wondering what is so funny, but hey they should mind their own business. Dylan and I are sitting on a bench in a park. The park is empty with very few people passing by. “This place is so beautiful.” I say out loud. “Not as beautiful as what I am looking.” I hear him say. I turn to look at him and find him smiling at me. “What?” He nods his head, “Nothing. So, what do you wanna do next?” he asks. “Well, I wouldn’t mind going to the mall. There is a mall in this town, right?” I ask and he bursts out laughing. Its like everything I say makes him laugh. “Of course, there is mall.” He says once his laughter dies down. “You want to buy something?” “No, I just want to know where I can go shopping if I need too.” I respond. “Sure. A good thing about the mall I am taking you too is that it’s a one stop center. It has everything.” He says. “For real?” “Yep, clothes, shoes, bags, all the accessories’ you ladies love. Food, alcohol, salons and many more.” He explains. “Wow I am looking forward to that. C’mon let’s go.” I get up and grab his arm. I am excited about seeing this mall he speaks so highly of. Dylan gets up and starts following me. I am happy because today is so far going better than I had anticipated. In one swift move Dylan grabs my wrist then waist pulling me close to him. My front comes crushing face to face with his hard wall of muscle. Both our breathing is harsh as our eyes stare deep into the other with only a few inches between us. Everything around us goes quiet like the earth has hit a pause button. What is going on? Dylan’s face is so close to me and he is not moving back. Does he want to kiss me? ******** Dylan’s POV I don’t know if I should thank the random biker or not. Because of him, Abby is in my arms right now. Our eyes both lost in the other, our bodies pressed against each other, and time is frozen for our sake. “Hey get a room.” A random man yells bringing us both back to earth. My arms slowly let go of Abby’s body. Her hands gently also slipping off my shoulders. “That biker almost caused an accident.” I say to make it less awkward. She chuckles, “Good thing I had you to catch me.” She smiles. “I guess. Are you okay though?” I ask just to be sure. “Yes, I am. Are you?” she asks. “I will survive, you stomped my foot. Ouch!!!!” I fake being in pain then hop around for a little. “Oh my gosh I am so sorry.” She starts to panic. “Let me have a look.” I start laughing, “I am kidding, look at you getting all worried about me.” “Not funny.” She punches my shoulder. “What was that? You barely punched me.” I laugh out loud. “I am walking back to the car you can stay here laughing all you want.” She says then starts walking away. I follow up and catch up with her. “C’mon princess I was only making a light joke.” “That is what you call a light joke?” she gives me a scary look. “Well.” I shrug, “I did not expect you to take me serious.” I respond. “You are kidding right?” she asks with one raised eyebrow. “I am sorry.” She rolls her eyes then continues walking towards the car. She looks cute when she is mad, but I will not tell her that or I will make her more furious than she already is. “Hey slow down.” I grab her hand in mine. Holding her hand in mine feels nice, I can’t describe the feeling, but it is amazing. Abby looks down at our entwined fingers then up at me. I just smile at her then proceed walking ahead. We have a long day ahead of us and I have so much I want to show her. ******************* Abby’s POV “Thank you for today.” I thank Dylan. I swear I haven’t had this much fun in such a long time. “You are welcome princess.” He smiles. “Why do you keep calling me that?” I chuckle. Dylan has been calling me princess the whole afternoon. “Because you are a princess, and you deserve the very best of everything.” “Will you build me a castle if I want one?” I ask. “Sure, although it may take me a few years considering I don’t have the resources now.” He responds. “Okay. Goodnight.” “Goodnight, Abby.” He smiles when saying my name then turns around to walk to his house. Today was amazing. I close the door behind me and the first person I see is my mom standing at the bottom of the stairs smiling at me. “Someone had a great day.” She says. “I did.” I return her smile. “Where did you guys go?” she asks as we both walk into the kitchen. I open the fridge to grab a bottle of water. “First we had breakfast at this really nice diner which is about 10 minutes’ drive from here. We had such a heavy breakfast then we went to a park that is not too far either. Had ice cream, made small talk then I asked to visit the mall which is a one stop center. You will love it.” I tell her. Mom is silently watching and listening to me explain how I had the best day I have had in a while. The afternoon was also quite packed. We even managed to watch a movie after grabbing a quick bite. Who would have thought we would want to eat again after the breakfast we had but guess what, we had a large pepperoni pizza? “Wow, sounds fun and exhausting.” She says when I finally finish telling her all the other things Dylan and I did. “It was.” I smile. “So do you like him?” mom asks. Why is she asking me? Mom knows I have never had a boyfriend before and whenever she has seen a boy get close to me, she gets all excited. “He is cool.” I respond. “So, you don’t like him?” she asks with a raised eyebrow. “Mom I think it’s a little too early for that. He seems like a nice guy, and he is fun to hang around with, but I don’t want to start picturing or seeing him in a different way. He is a good friend.” I try to emphasize the point. “Good friend for now I see.” She nods her head then moves towards the cooker. “Wanna help me finish off with dinner?” she asks changing the subject. “Sure, what are we preparing for dinner?” I ask. “The twins requested for mash and beef stew.” She says then gets busy with the stew that is cooking. “I will peel the potatoes then.” I grab an apron then wash my hands before I begin. ************* Dinner was amazing. Mom’s cooking is the best I have ever tasted and I am slowly learning a few things from her while spending time with her in the kitchen. Once she begins work which is soon, I will have to be doing most of the cooking. Dad could not join us for dinner tonight, he is currently in a 24-hour shift. That is one thing about dad’s job, he some times has these really long shifts and we get to see less of him. I mean what he is doing is amazing, saving lives and all but we also miss him. I close my bedroom door then settle in my seat at my desk. I look up at my board and it is very empty, I need to add a memory note to it. I get my phone off the charger turning it on immediately. Dylan and took a lot of pictures today, I can print one of them then add it to my board of memories. “Oh no the ink is finished.” The photo is barely clear but I will stick it anyway it’s a day worth remembering. If I decide to wait until I get more ink, I would have forgotten about it. I get off the chair and stick the photo on the board. “Perfect.” I smile at the board before I make my way to the bathroom. I need to take a shower before I get into bed. Stripping my clothes off immediately and tossing them in the laundry basket then stepping under the shower. Of all things to come into mind, I remember the little accident in the park that worked in our favor. Dylan and I were so close all up in each other’s face, anything would have happened between us. If it weren’t for the man that yelled that we get a room, I bet Dylan and I would have kissed. The thought of our lips meeting and our tongues touching makes me feel all warm. “Oh my goodness I am such a perv!” A cold shower will help get these thoughts out of my head.
