Lack of sleep

Dylan’s POV “What was that all about Dylan? You have been distant of late and today when you saw me in class you just went on with whatever you were doing.” Abby asks sounding very unpleased. I don’t blame her I would be pissed as well. “Abby….” I try to hold her hands in mine, but she pulls them back. Ouch. I always feel calm when I hold her hands in mine and now, she won’t even let me. “I am sorry about everything.” I start while maintaining the eye contact. “The past couple of days have been hectic, I have been doing something with my friends and they have been coming over. I bet you may have heard us on a few occasions.” She nods her head. “I usually get home late, and your light is always off, so I choose not to disturb you.” I explain hoping she believes me then we can be friends again. “And last night I was up until midnight. If it weren’t for Alex and Aiden I would have overslept and missed school today. To make things worse I had to pick my friends from their homes to school. I am really sorry.” She lets out a breath. “Fine, I will only believe you because you did look like you needed a bit more sleep when you walked into class.” She says with a half-smile. “Thanks.” I give her a small smile. “But that does not give you an excuse to behave like a stranger.” She says with a straight face. “I promise to do better.” I don’t even know why I am promising when I have been put in a tight position, I will definitely hurt her again. “Since you did not get enough sleep why don’ t you get some sleep now, you looked like a zombie before and you kind of still so.” She giggles. I missed hearing her laugh and giggle. “I will sleep later, right now I want to catch up with you, I missed you.” The moment those words leave my mouth I see her cheeks change color. “Well, I hope it hurt.” She punches my shoulder. “It actually did.” I chuckle. “So will you tell me about your day now?” “Well, it wasn’t all that. I made two new friends Emma and Olivia. They both seems like good people.” She says with some level of excitement. “They both showed me around school and like me they don’t like cafeteria food, so I have agreed to have lunch with them at the benches outside the cafeteria.” She explains. “Wait what is wrong with the cafeteria food?” “It’s not fresh and that causes a lot of stomach upsets.” She explains. “The food seems fine to me, and I have been eating it for years now.” I shrug. She just shakes her head from side to side. “Fine so if you don’t eat the cafeteria food then what do you eat?” “Packed food, a sandwich, French fries or something like a fruit with a muffin maybe.” She says. “How is that lunch? That is a snack.” “I don’t eat much so that is fine with me.” She says. No wonder Abby is as small as she is, in fact Emma and Liv too. I always thought that those two are their size because of the active cheer leading and volleyball but nope I guess they just don’t eat. Abby maybe small but her body is sexy and I like it just the way she is. “Okay, so even after you join a sport club you won’t be eating?” I ask out of curiosity. The boys and I eat a lot because we need all the energy we can get. Football is not an easy sport. “Nahhh…… I am not joining any sport.” She says. “What? Emma didn’t try to convince you to join her cheer leading squad?” I ask with amusement. “Oh she tried, all day long and still going to try tomorrow saying I need to sleep over it.” She explains. “Liv asked if maybe I would be interested in playing volleyball which I politely declined.” “Wow,” a chuckle escapes my mouth. “So you are not joining any sport of any kind?” “Nope. I will join a club though.” “Which one?” I ask. “Not yet sure but I am thinking the drama club maybe. I love poetry, art and drama so I am thinking of going for it. My other option would be the music club which I think is my last option.” She explains. “I think music would be good. You have an amazing voice.” I tell her then see her blush a little. “You have only heard me sing once and that was in the shower, everyone sings in the shower.” She says in her defense. “Either way your voice is the best I have heard, and I bet everyone else would enjoy listening to you sing.” I smile at her. Abby and I go on talking for an hour before it is time for her to shower and get ready for dinner with her family. I return to my own house and help my mom prepare our dinner before having an early night. I really need to rest. ************************ Abby’s POV “Hey so have you decided yet?” Emma asks as we settle on the benches outside the cafeteria. I thought maybe she would have forgotten about it this morning. “Is she still trying to convince you to join her squad?” Liv asks. “I am afraid so.” “And so?” Emma asks again. “No sweetheart I am not joining any sports activity of any sort I hate exercising. I will join the drama club instead.” I say. I decided drama would work best for me, I cannot sing in public so drama it is. “What, you must be kidding right?” Emma asks, from the look on her face she does not believe me. “B let the girl live. She has mentioned she does not like exercising even I don’t like it either. I only do it because I love volleyball.” Liv tries to convince Emma who is not having it. I think its cool that they are both active, I on the other hand is very lazyyyyyy. “Nah I will not accept this. Just look at this beauty, you have a sexy and amazing body, nice long legs, a long neck and a beautiful face. You know what, I will carry you with me to the try outs and see what I have to pick from.” Emma tells us. Emma and Liv go on debating about me joining the cheer leading squad as we have our lunch. Today I was up early, I managed to have a decent breakfast so I knew I would not be as hungry at lunch, so I packed a banana, with a slice of cake that mom baked yesterday after her interview. Turns out the interview went well, and she will begin work in two weeks. She will be working for a small but well recognized law firm. I am happy that she will finally be busy with work, the past two months she was out of work was nice because we got to spend time with her but then I suffered a little with her wanting to know everything that was happening in my life. Asking me about boys, if I had s*x yet and if I was planning on getting a contraceptive. It was hard to avoid her, but I eventually did. Dylan had a good night sleep. He was awake before I rose and was all cheerful in the morning. He asked to give me a ride to school but I wasn’t ready when he was. He still had to give his friends a ride to school, so I declined the offer to ride with him. When I walked into class this morning, he winked at me and shortly after Emma arrived and started talking to me and since then we have not interacted. “Abby, do you have a boyfriend?” Emma randomly asks bringing me back from my thoughts. “What?” I ask with a piece of banana in my mouth. “Boyfriend, do you have one?” she repeats the questions. It’s not that I didn’t hear her at first, I did but just wondering why she is asking me. “Ahhh……” I try to come up with something, but nothing comes out. I mean it’s a simple question, all I need to say is no. Then she will ask me why and if I have ever had one before. “Emma leave her alone. Why are you asking her personal questions.” Liv responds on my behalf. “Its not a personal question if we are friends.” Emma responds. “Okay then its too soon.” “Too soon? Noooo unless if I was asking her how many people she has slept with.” Emma says making me choke a little. I have not slept with a single person.
