Dylan's POV
I think things will turn out okay between Abby and I. After apologising to her over my bad behaviour towards her, we spent over an hour chatting and catching up.
This morning I woke up so early after having a good night sleep. I swear never again will I let the guys convince me into staying up late playing video games. I don’t even understand why those two love to play video games so much. No wonder they don’t have girlfriends.
But then again which one of us does?
Well, I have hope, in a few weeks or even days I could ask Abby out. In fact, I should have done so before schools open. Now that she is hanging out with Emma and Liv, it’s going to be a little too difficult. But I will find a way.
“Can we sit outside?” Jay suggests.
“Why?” Andy asks.
We all just got our food and looking for somewhere to sit and have our lunch. Abby said the cafeteria food isn’t fresh but it smells good and seems fine to me.
“It’s hot in here. Dylan, do you want to sit in here?” Jay asks me.
“Fine let’s go, there isn’t even anywhere comfortable to sit except that table with the geeks.” Andy points out.
The cafeteria is full today, well not completely most tables have a few chairs that are unoccupied but they are all surrounded by people we don’t fancy sitting with. It’s either we sit with the math gurus, lab nerd, or the cheer leaders.
The moment we walk outside I remember Abby telling me to she and the girls would be sitting outside.
“There is an empty table under the trees with some shad.” Jay says while quickly moving forward towards the table that isn’t far from the girls.
I turn to look at Andy who’s posture changes. He gets like this all the time whenever we are around Emma and Liv. I have my own reasons to why I can’t stand being around them, well technically it’s just Emma Liv is cool. Usually, the football captain and head cheer leader should get along in some way but not Emma and I.
“Okay look, I can help you get a boyfriend at this school.” I hear Emma tell Abby.
“Who said she wants one?” Liv comes in.
“Well from her response I know she doesn’t have one and.....”
“And you will do nothing.” Liv tells Emma.
I slightly turn to peep over my shoulder and see Abby digging into her lunch while Emma and Liv discuss getting and not getting her a boyfriend.
“Dude is that the new chick from your class?” Andy asks while looking over my shoulder at the table behind us.
“Wait isn’t she the same chick that just moved into the house next to yours?” Jay asks.
“Yes,” I say to Andy then turn to look at Jay, “Yes and don’t think about it.”
“What man, what if she fancies me?” He whines.
“Dude, a girl like that will not fancy you ever!” Andy pats him on the shoulder.
“Why not, what’s wrong with me?” Jay asks.
Nothing is actually wrong with him, Jay has not dated in a while though. Back in tenth grade he had a secret lover whose name he never revealed to us until this day. We don’t know what broke them up but ever since then he has decided to not date. He of course flirts with a girl here and there but never dates any of them.
His love for that girl must have been real. I hope she finds the same kind of love with another girl someday.
“Nothing is wrong with you. Ignore this player, but Abby is off limits.” I assure and warn him.
Jay is a good guy and any girl would love to have him as a boyfriend. Although I don’t want him to have to flirt with Abby.
“What! How am I a player?” Andy asks with a coy smile.
“Dude we both know you’re a player. Yesterday you were flirting with Britney and this morning you were all ‘Hi Rachael’ to some girl.” I say imitating his voice.
“You also noticed ey?” Jay jumps in.
“Yep.”
“You are both judging me. It’s not like you don’t flirt or speak to other girls.” Andy says in his defence and just a second later he waves at someone passing behind me.
“Hey girls.” He says.
I look over my shoulder and see Emma, Liv and Abby walking back into the cafeteria. Liv must be the person Andy is smiling at or it can be Emma his cousin and definitely not Abby because he knows best.
Abby is smiling at me while Emma is sending me daggers and Liv is staring back at Andy. I turn away and continue eating my food.
“Why didn’t you say hi or at least wave at your girl?” Andy asks me.
“No reason, I will speak with her at home.”
“That’s odd.” He responds but I ignore him.
“Why is it because of Emma?” Jay asks.
I stay quiet.
“You know you two need to get passed this. I will talk to her.” Andy starts saying then I cut him short.
“No need, it’s alright I can will hand it.” I respond.
“No man it’s not, you like this girl and I bet you want to spend as much time with her, Emma should not come between you too.” Andy emphasizes.
Well what can I do at this point? I bet Abby will ask me why I didn’t say hi again.
Fuck! I am screwed.

Abby’s POV
“Okay look, I can help you get a boyfriend at this school.” Emma says bringing me back to reality.
For a while back I spaced out and decided to eat my lunch while the two of them kept talking about my virginity and if I had a boyfriend.
“Who said she wants one?” Liv asks Emma. Here we go again.
“Well from her response I know she doesn’t have one and.....” Emma starts before getting cut off.
“And you will do nothing.” Liv tells Emma with a lot of emphasis.
Liv looks like she is the only one that can handle or manage Emma’s energy, I definitely cannot manage her energy.
“Okay guys chill.” I say getting both their attention.
Emma stops eating her salad and Liv is holding her chocolate milk box midway in the air.
“I don’t have a boyfriend yes,” I whisper making sure no one else hears this embarrassing conversation. “And I have not yet had s*x either and I think I prefer to figure both things on my own.” I say before I continue eating the cake.
They are both quiet for a few seconds before I hear Liv pulling the last of her chocolate milk up the straw.
“There you have it Em.”
“Okay I hear you but…..” Emma as usual is protesting.
“No buts, she will figure this out on her own no playing cupid.” Liv tells her sternly.
“Fine.” Emma gives up although she doesn’t sound to happy about it.
Honestly after what happened at my last school, I very much appreciate if no one bothers about me being single or still being a virgin.
We go on having our lunch in peace before we all get up to leave. Just as we leave, there is a cute boy with dark hair and brown eyes sitting at the table not to far from ours.
“Hey girls.” He says after waving.
One of the guys looks at us over his shoulder and this turns out to be no other than my very own neighbour. I smile at him but his reaction is again different.
He just turns back looking away like he hasn’t seen me.
What is going on with Dylan, it’s like he wants us to pretend we don’t know each other when we are at school.
