CHAPTER THREE

*Cain’s POV*

I always hated when I had to leave the royal home on emergency kingdom business but who said I had a choice. In case you were wondering who I was well, I’m Cain the Royal alpha, I took over ruler-ship of all packs in the kingdom when I was eighteen. My father had died in a battle against rogues which we won. However he was injured beyond recovery hence his death which left my mom devastated. Although she is no longer the woman she used to be, that is what losing a mate does to you, she is however still playing the role of Luna until I found my mate.

I am now twenty-two years old and I still haven’t found my mate. This has being a cause of concern to me and my advisors because an alpha is never at his full strength hence weak until he is mated. I was beginning to worry, thinking my mate must be dead that’s why I haven’t found her but I had decided to wait two more years to find her and if I didn’t find her then I would mate the daughter of an alpha in my kingdom. The idea didn’t really please me to be mated to someone who wasn’t my true mate but I was running out of time.

The ride back the royal house was long, exhausting and I couldn’t wait to get home. I wanted sometime to myself before dinner. I needed to think of a way to find my mate, maybe I would invite all alpha’s daughter to the… “Cain!” Tyler called interrupting my thoughts. I looked at him showing no emotion, “where are you lost?” he asked. “As you can see I’m with you” I replied him in my most authoritative voice. Tyler was my beta and a good one at that, he knew me so much you could say he was my friend but I wasn’t one to make friends with people beneath me so I literally had no friend. However Tyler knew how to move past of that and read me like a book, making me feel much better each time, although I would never admit it to him.  “Don’t worry your head so much you would find her soon” he says making me smile inwardly while I kept a straight face. “For all you know she might be waiting for you back at the mansion” he continued giving me an assuring smile that made me relax even before I thought better of it. We continued our journey home in comforting silence.

You’d never have thought in a million years that Tyler would be right when he said she was waiting for me at home, oh boy was he right. As we got close to the gate a wave of orange blossoms and pine scent hit me. It was by far the best scent I have ever smelled, the closer we got to the house the stronger it became. to say I was excited was an understatement of the century and my wolf was literally jumping and trying to get out, run to our mate and just be with them forever. 

However my pride won’t let me just run searching for her even though I had been waiting years to find her so I just walked into the house expecting find her in the living room instead I was greeted by a sudden hug from my mother. 

The woman missed her mate so much she focused all her energy mothering me even though I was alpha as I was an exact replica of my father. “Hello to you too mum” I said trying to make my voice sound less sarcastic “don’t use that tone with me boy. You’ve been away for a week now, isn’t a mother allowed to miss her son?” she says starting to tear up. “Oh no mum don’t cry. I missed you too so much” I tell her making her smile immediately. Although I didn’t like showing emotions and never really want anything to do with people beneath me, I did love my mum a lot and would do anything to make her happy, she is my mother after all and you simply can’t but love them.

Returning my attention back to my mate’s scent that was prickling my nose, I told my mum I really needed to take a shower and rest a bit that I would see her at dinner. She simply nodded and I marched up to my room. Tossing my clothes carelessly on the floor I went to the shower to take a warm relaxing bathe wondering why I hadn’t seen my mate yet, I imagined she would be beautiful and exude the grace of a queen.

Realizing I had been in the shower for a while I stepped out and quickly changed into a black shirt and jean that hung on my waist line. I knew I looked hot and had quite an effect on women so I unbuttoned the first two buttons on my shirt sensing I would be seeing my mate at dinner and I wanted her to drool at my looks. I smiled as the thought crossed my mind and my wolf Damien howled.

I entered into the dining room but still couldn’t see her which made me feel agitated something was wrong but I smiled and went to meet my mum giving her a peck on the cheek and sat down. My mum the signaled the servant to bring in the food, soon a young girl, a maid walked in and then froze to her position, it was her…it was my mate.

 She was staring at me and I was staring back. My goddess she was beautiful, the most beautiful girl I had ever laid eyes on. Her ash blonde hair, silver eyes, delicious lips and enticing curves made me want to jump up and claim her that’s when it fully sank in she was a maid. My mate was a freaking maid, anger flooded through me and I was suddenly disgusted at the idea of been mated with a lowly maid. You see I had come from a linage of pure alpha blood. My dad and his dad before him had all married daughters of an alpha and I wanted to continue in that line, I wanted my mate to have alpha blood.

I was about to talk to ask her questions but just then another maid behind her nudged her and she immediately went to work serving the food and ran out as soon as she was done.

Through dinner she came in to dish the food and went back to the kitchen but she didn’t spare me as much as a glance, this made me really angry, who did she think she was to avoid me I was a freaking alpha.

Soon dinner was over and without so much as a word to anyone including my mum who I knew sensed my mood I marched to my room angrily. Getting to my room pacing in anger, frustration and lust cause damn she might be a maid but she was hot. She managed to get me on edge in her simple maid’s uniform than I was able to do to her with my buttons undone.

After what seem like years of pacing, I finally decided to confront her who was she to ignore me. I marched angrily to the kitchen which was already dark but I could smell her and I saw her getting a bottle of water. Before I could stop myself using my super speed I grabbed her and pinned her to the wall. She looked shocked but when she saw my face she relax into my hands and I was confused, most people got terrified of me when I was like this and I knew her lack of fear had nothing with her being my mate.

“How dare you ignore me” I growled trying to sound more terrifying “how dare you ignore me too” she growled back and I must say never in my life have I been scared of anyone but I was scared now feeling my wolf whimper at the back of my head. I tried to regain my composure and before I could achieve that we were suddenly spun around and I was pinned to the wall. “Weren’t you supposed to come claim me the minute you knew I was your mate? If you are going to ignore me so would I” she says with anger and hurt blazing in her eyes but I was still so shocked at her strength that I couldn’t reply or notice she had left me there and walked out of the kitchen.
