Chapter one
Faye pressed her back against the wall, heart pounding. Music thumped faintly down the street, calling her like a secret promise. She lifted her phone and whispered into it, “Careful not to make a sound, I’m coming out,” she said, grinning despite herself. “Yeah, now. And… not that it matters though.. But, did I mention …that the last guy I met? Total blast. Actually made my night. I can’t even start.”
A muffled laugh came through the phone. “You’re impossible, Faye… you actually slept with him.. What happened to the last guy being the last?” Maya teased from the end of her cellphone.
“Well.. I tried to avoid him, but he was just so cute and charming, and he was also a fan of my favorite movie. The vampire diaries… besides he looked like Clark Kent. What did you want me to do when he flashed me that award-winning smile.. And trust me he was good… A+” Faye giggled, just flashing back to last week Friday.
“Just get your ass down here, pronto… And be careful, okay?” Josh said, his voice low and harsh.
“I will,” she promised, tiptoeing across her room and gripping the doorknob of her bedroom door. “Don’t doubt my professional sneaking-out skills. Don’t worry.” She eased the door closed, flipped the lock silently, and crept toward her window. “Okay, I’ll text you when I’m safe. Don’t freak out,” she whispered.
“Text me anyway,” Maya’s voice replied, teasing and urgent. “I need updates from my favorite troublemaker.”
Faye grinned, ducking out the window. “Always, bestie. Always.” she chuckled. Landing softly on the grass, she glanced at the car waiting down the street. Her friends were already in, waving her over. “Finally!” Maya hissed when Faye reached the back seat.
“I’m a professional, remember?” Faye said, buckling her seatbelt. “Took me only… hmm, maybe ten years to perfect this move.”
“Ten years?” Josh teased from the driver’s seat, raising an eyebrow. “You’re exaggerating, as usual.”
“Excuse me, I started young,” Faye shot back, nudging Maya playfully. “I take sneaking out very seriously.” She took off her leather jacket and threw it to the back of the jeep.
The car's engine rumbled to life, and Faye leaned back in her seat, grinning. Just as the front door burst open, her mother’s voice rang out across the driveway.
“Don’t be out late, you sneaky fox!” her mother shouted from the kitchen window, voice carrying over the distance.
“Yeah, yeah! Love you too!” Faye called back, grinning as the car sped down the street.

The bass hit her chest like a drum, vibrating through the soles of her sneakers as she and her friends squeezed into the crowded nightclub. Neon lights flashed across bodies and spilled drinks, reflecting off glittering outfits. Faye leaned closer to Maya over the deafening music.
“This is it,” she shouted, grinning. “The last party of the summer.. Because after tonight, it’s all university apps and a new Faye, responsible me.”
Maya laughed. “Responsible you? Who are you kidding?”
Faye rolled her eyes, smirking. “Oh, don’t get me wrong, I’m still the same wild, bold Faye I’ve always been. But tonight… I’m untouchable.” She spun onto the dance floor, letting the music pull her into its rhythm. Drinks in hand, laughter spilling, she felt alive in a way only a night like this could give her.
Then she noticed him… or rather, he noticed her.
Leaning against the bar, pale skin almost glowing under the neon, dark hair falling just enough to shadow sharp, intense eyes, he was watching her move with careful interest. He didn’t just glance…he studied her, and something in that look made her pulse spike.. And that was her cue.
Faye grinned, daring herself. She was bold. She always made the first move. Weaving through the crowd, she reached him, grabbed his hand, and dragged him to the center of the dance floor.
“What are you doing?” he asked, his voice low, amused.
“Dancing,” she said, spinning once before pressing close, letting the rhythm guide her. Then she leaned in, letting her lips hover near his ear. “And maybe testing your limits.”
His lips quivered into a small, knowing smirk. “Testing… me?” he murmured. His eyes flicked over her, and Faye shivered at the intensity, though she couldn’t explain why. Something about him felt different, electric.
“Yeah,” she whispered, brushing her fingers along his arm. “I like someone who can keep up. Can you?” scanning his entire biceps that were begging to hold her and grab her tightly.
He tilted his head, gaze teasing. I already can, his thoughts whispered directly to her mind. Faye blinked, startled. That wasn’t supposed to happen..but she felt no fear, only intrigue. “Uh… did you just—?”
“Just what?” His voice stayed calm, teasing, but that smirk, curved just right on his pale lips..made her stomach twist. She felt it before she even realized it; the faint pull of him, just a step behind her thoughts.
She imagined him pulling her closer..and, impossibly, he did. Her eyes widened, a flash of surprise crossing her face. She pictured him brushing her cheek with the back of his hand, and there it was, a feather-light touch she hadn’t expected. Another quick flash of wonder flickered in her eyes.
Faye laughed, brushing a strand of hair from her face. “I like a challenge…Keeps things interesting.” She stepped closer, pressing just enough against him to feel warmth radiate from his body. “And I never ever loose one.. ever”
His smirk widened, and he leaned slightly closer, voice low. “Never… huh? That’s brave.” His gaze locked onto hers, piercing, almost intimate, making her heart flutter faster than the bass. “Do you always flirt with strangers this boldly?”
“I flirt with anyone worth noticing,” she replied, her grin widening. “And you, Mr… stranger, are very noticeable.”
He chuckled softly, that strange, almost hypnotic sound that brushed against her mind. Careful, Faye. You’re dangerously charming. She froze for a heartbeat, realizing he could hear her thoughts’…but he gave nothing away, only a teasing tilt of his head, a smoldering look that made her knees weak.
Faye’s grin turned wicked. “I think I like you,” she whispered, leaning in closer, lips brushing his cheek as her hand grazed his shoulder. “Think you can handle me?”
His breath caught, barely audible over the music. “I think… I already am,” he said, voice low, teasing..but still carefully hidden. His pale skin almost glowed under the strobe lights, every movement smooth, deliberate, captivating. She didn’t know who he really was, but every nerve in her body wanted to find out.
Without another word, Faye pressed her lips to his, bold and confident. The music pulsed through them as their kiss lingered, teasing, dangerous, and electric. She felt the thrill of risk, of wildness, and a strange warmth she couldn’t name.
And the stranger,so impossibly pale, so impossibly hot..didn’t pull away. Instead, he matched her, just enough to make her pulse race, yet held his secrets close, leaving her wanting more.
Faye pulled back from the kiss just enough to catch her breath with a mischievous glint in her eyes. “Come on,” she whispered, tugging him toward the back door that led to the alley. Across the dance floor, she shot a daring smirk at her friends. Maya raised her glass, cheering silently, while Josh groaned, downing his shot in frustration.
The alley swallowed them in shadows, the thump of the club fading into the distance. He followed her smoothly, his steps measured, eyes never leaving hers. “Where are you taking me?” he asked, voice teasing, curiosity wrapped in calm confidence.
“You’ll see,” Faye said, skipping a few steps ahead, letting the rhythm of her boldness carry her.
He caught up easily, grabbing her by her waist and pinning her against the bricked wall, his presence close but careful, hands brushing just slightly against hers, sending a thrill up her spine. “Careful… you might make me think you’re in charge,” he murmured.
Faye’s grin widened. “Maybe I like being in charge,” she whispered, letting her fingers lightly graze his arm, testing him.
He tilted his head, smirk deepening, a flicker of something unreadable passing through his pale eyes. His legs parted her thighs, making her gulp.. He pulled her up, both legs wrapped around his torso. Every movement, every breath, seemed perfectly in tune with hers..as if he could anticipate her thoughts without her even saying a word.
She took off his shirt, feeling the heat radiating off his skin as she placed soft kisses at the base of his neck. He kissed her passionately, her moans filling the alley. He unclasped her bra through her tank top, but didn’t take it off and stopped her when she wanted to. She reached down to unfasten his belt, as he kissed her neck, making her go wild in pleasure.
He pulled her trousers away in a blink of an eye, which also did something to her, adding to the drive she had. Right there, he made love to her, none like which she had ever experienced. Every stroke had a meaning and every moan was an answer.
For a long moment, they simply stood there, the tension wrapping around them like a current. Every glance, every subtle brush of hands, every teasing smile was charged, electric. Faye knew she was pushing boundaries, and she loved it. He let her lead, yet his presence pressed in just enough to make her heart skip, making her feel alive in a way that no party, no music, no thrill of the night ever had.
A sudden, tingling warmth at the back of her neck made her gasp, and for a heartbeat, the world seemed to spin. When she blinked, he was gone. The alley was empty, shadows stretching in every direction.
Faye frowned, glancing around. How had she gotten here? She lifted her hand to her neck, trying to remember the last few moments..but nothing came back. Her lips curled into a nervous laugh, shaking her head. “Weird… must’ve… I don’t even know,” she muttered.
She spun on her heel and bolted back toward the club, weaving through the crowd like nothing had happened. Maya waved from the dance floor. “Faye! You okay?”
“Yeah!” Faye called back, forcing a smile, her pulse still racing. But there was a hollow sort of thrill, like a memory she should have had had been taken away—,eaving only the ech
o of someone watching her vanish into the night.
