The sky raged as the rain fell, thunder and lightening rocked the sky, people were all taking cover in their offices, roadside stalls, under the bridges and even in the comfort of their homes cuddling with their significant other or just cuddling their pillows. But, he just stood there under the rain like a statue he was far from earth, dead-looking but still standing upright.
"That guy might get struck by lightening if he doesn't take cover" one of the men in the stall opposite where he was standing said and they all nodded in agreement but one disagreed
"I think he's either sucidal or has just received a soul crushing news" she said "I'll try going to bring him in here, it's safer here" the lady was about walking out of the stall to approach him when he suddenly looked up and dashed away runing towards the opposite direction.
"Wait!!" Somebody screamed and the doctor who was about to enter a patient's ward turned and looked at him wide-eyed
"What is wrong with you Mr Jake? You can't come running and screaming in the hospital looking like that" the doctor who looked to be in his fifties scolded as he walked closer to the young man
"Can I take her home?" He suddenly asked
"You know she just has a few...."
"I know but I want to spend that time with her, alone!" He said interrupting the doctor
"It's raining Jake" the doctor sighed and said
"I don't care, put her in an ambulance, they'll drive her safely to the underground parking lot in my house, we'll take her up from there you don't need to worry" He said earnestly to the doctor. The doctor thought for a few seconds and agreed
"Okay I'll arrange everything, just go and sign the discharge paper" patting his shoulders, the Doctor left
Jake went up to the area where he had to sign the discharge papers but everyone there gave him this pitiful look. Every worker in this hospital knows what happened, some patients knows too and it's been difficult on Jake to walk around with everybody giving him this sad/condolence look.
"Just give me the paperwork will you" he snapped at the nurse stationed there who forgot all her manners and kept staring at him like a dead person
"I'm so sorry" she stumbled around clumsily and brought out the discharge papers, she showed him where to sign, stating the hospital won't be held if anything happens but then what could happen, she was going to die anyways the nurse had that thought in her head, even without saying it out, he knew that she thought about it and gave her a very tight-lipped warning smile.
"Jake, she's all ready and waiting for you in the ambulance downstairs" the doctor said as he approached him
"Thanks doctor Gregory, you're too good" Jake said gaving him a hug, he headed for the exit
"Hold on" Dr Greg's voice made him halt
"Yes" Jake answered raising one of his eyebrows
"Should the ambulance wait downstairs, to bring her back to the morgue?" He asked slowly looking at Jake, who has aged over the course of one month.
Jakes expression turned sour and he just turned around and walked out. He was so angry, not angry at the doctor, hospital or anything but he was angry cos life was unfair, so f***ng UNFAIR!
He stomped straight down and head to the only ambulance with it's lights on, the back door was opened and her saw her, looking so restless, with unshed tears at the side of her eyes, unlike some days before when she looked really peaceful. It seems like she doesn't want to leave too. Tears gathered in his eyes as he kept looking at her, different emotions he has never felt all came rushing down, his head hurts, his heart hurts, everything hurts but what can he do!
Whimpering like a child her clinged on to her hand, never wanting to let it go. He felt he would've captured every single moment they had, he never would have let her go on those unnecessary trips, he would have been with her every F***ng second if he knew she was just going to leave like this! He felt her finger move around in his palm trying to reassure him, she probably could feel his raging emotions and he bursted into even more tears.
The driver and the accompanying medic we're both secretly wiping their faces, non of them dared to interrupt their last moments together. They both felt it was better to love their partners and hold them closely cos nobody knows what can happen next, considering the couple who were both crying actually, just one is weeping and wailing but the other one, even when she was being pulled into death's door, she kept holding on.
Pulling up in the parking lot of his house, he felt the urge to throw up, he had all the money in the world that even if the cure of her sickness was a billion dollars, he wouldn't even have to think twice he would sell all he has and pay. But no, out of every curable sicknesses, she had to have the one without a name and a cure!
Sighing, he let the medic wheel her to the spacious elevator he had installed in the house, he always brought her home from the hospital when she was awake but now, instead of a wheel chair she was brought in with a stretcher. All the workers in the house respectfully lined up with their heads down, some were whimpering, the men just stylishly wiped their eyes and Jake's towering figure made all their hearts have a bit of hope, 'she'll be fine' that's what they all thought.
The medic wheeled her to the master bedroom which she and Jake shared. After successfully lifting her and properly laying her down on the bed, he excused himself for the couple to have their time alone.
"Baby, why me? You wouldn't have done this to me" he said, fixing the fallen strands of her hair on her face. Smiling tiredly he laid on the bed cuddling her he smiled in relief and went off to sleep sniffing her scent.
He woke up with a snap, holding up to that tiny bit of hope, he immediately thought that miracle he's been expecting has finally come to fulfillment. He felt her clutching two of his fingers, he saw that her face was all sweaty and she kept clutching on to him tightly.
"Rina, please if you can hear me just breathe, breathe, everything will be okay" he voice shook, he was so scared but he had to be strong for her.
She struggled for a bit and started calming down, until she quieted down. Her breathing became shallow and shallow, he heartbeat slowed down. He felt so scared, this is and will be the scariest thing that would ever happen to him.
Jake's heart constricted, he couldn't breathe properly, the whole world froze in his eyes, his eyes were blood shot as he kept looking at her imagining different scenes of her being all hale and hearty, this is the last time he'll be seeing her looking alive and his heart twisted, so badly that he screamed out loud with so much pain and tears streaming out of his eyes.
