Chapter 8- An li mind went blank

An li POV:
I am at my office sorting this pile of document's for the president, and I'm finishing up the last part of it. It's almost time for me to end my shift.
Now I am heading towards his office dropping off the documents. I was gonna open the door but I heard him talking to someone, it will be wrong for me to just open the door. So I knock instead...
"Come in".... on the other side Chen Wu already knew who it was.
Is there a problem?
"Um... no no... there's no problem at all sir", I only came to hand you these documents that I just finished now. Walking closer to his desk to give him the pile's.
Do you have any other thing's for me to do before I take my leave today s-sir?
Looking at Xun wu, Xun wu understand that his president wants to talk to her alone.
Is that all you need today sir?
"Yes".....
Chen Wu POV:
When Xun Wu left, I looked up at An li telling her that I have something I need her to sign. "I have a form that I want you to sign"....
Putting the documents that An li brought in, I put them inside the drawer. I hand the form that was on top of my computer and gave it to her. While she took the form, I work on some e-mail's that was sent to me yesterday and today.
Waiting on a reply from her, I hear nothing so I decided to look up at her. And I guessed it right, shes in shock. Because right now she has her eyes wide and is staring at the paper and me. Like I'm crazy, or something having her sign those form.
"I-I-I d-don't understand" this.
Now hearing her mumbling to herself or maybe to him. He told her that he need her to sign it as soon as she can.
"I need you to sign it as soon as you can". there's another form with it too.
"A-another form". with that she quickly flipped it to the next page. She went into another round of shock, more then before. She feel like her eyes and brain is going to pop out any second.
Instead of me responding to the e-mail's like I planned. I stared at her to see how she will take it in her. And I take it that it's probably too much for her.
An li POV:
W-WHAT!!!!!.... Is he for real?
Th-this is just too much for me to handle. It feels like my mind isn't adjusting to the form's I have in my hand. This got to be a joke right, I mean like.... WHAT!!!!.... I'm totally having a meltdown right now, I can't even talk.
I feel like, I need to pace around his office but I cannot do that. My legs won't move due to me having a hard time processing this at all. I wanted to ask him if he's for real about this or is this some kind of a joke, because this isn't funny. I'm just looking at him and these form's, back and forth.
"S-sir...i-is this for real". This is a joke right... p-please tell me it is.
"Those form's isn't a joke". do you see me laughing about it. ( I can tell that she's totally having a meltdown right now. )
I-I-I think I need to sit down for a bit. Until i can ask him questions. "Can I sit s-sir'.... I-i need to cool my head down.
"Go ahead"..... when you are ready we can discuss everything.
Without saying anything An li only nod. I don't think I can sign these form's at all. What is he thinking having me sign those form's. There's like a million people out there willing to have that position and why me, I am not capable of taking that spot.
....."I-i don't know, no I don't think I can sign it S-sir". looking at her hands she can't look at him in the eyes.
"You don't know or you think you can't" ?
....."B-both"... i-it's not right for me to sign it.
"And why"? "Why can't you"?
"B-b-because, there's more suitable people out there for that position"..... a-and I know that they are willing to take it, just not me.
"Of course I know that there's more suitable people out there that is willing to take it". But their name isn't on those form's is it. It's your name.
“So why are you hesitanting?"
"C-can I at least get a few days to think about this?" Please?
..SIGH.... "Sure you have tonight and tomorrow to think about it" I want your answer tomorrow afternoon or before you leave.
"T-thank you... Sir" um...um.....may I take my leave now.
"Go on ahead it's almost time for you to end your shift anyway".
An li got up was going to leave but she forgot that she has the form's with her. " Oh" I almost forgot sir, the form's.
"Just bring it with you in case you change your mind later"
"Oh. Ok" I don't think I'll change my mind at all telling herself that in her head. "Have a good day S-sir" bowing to him also.
"Mmm". That's all he said because he went back to his computer typing. And out the door she went, walking quickly to her office.
I think I need to talk to Ling ling about this. I need her opinion. So I grabbed my cellphone on my desk and find her number. Once I found her I called right away and now I am waiting for her to pick up.
Come on, pick up! pick up! PICK UP!!..... screaming inside her head.
"Hello" .....
"Ling ling it's me An li". are you busy.
"Hey girl" what's up? no I'm on break why?
"When you get off of work come meet me at my apartment okay as soon as possible, you hear me ASAP!!!...
"Ok ok I hear you". What's wrong with you?
"I'll tell you everything when you are here". I might really panic if I tell you now. I'll prepare dinner too, don't be late I mean it.
"Ok geez see you then" bye.
Both hang up. An li start to put her things away inside her desk. She grabbed her purse and apartment key, then out of her office.
( time skip )
At An li apartment she just got back from grocery shopping, now she's preparing to make katsu ( deep fried pork cutlet ) and boiling vegetables to eat with the katsu. Now An li is making the katsu sauce, she usually like to buy it but she wants to try to attempt making the sauce.
An li is setting up the table, she took the two rice bowl and place it on the table with a pair of chopsticks on each side. She also add the sauce in a bowl An li likes to dip the pork cutlet in the sauce, but some other times she will add the sauce over the pork cutlet.
An-li is sitting on her couch waiting for Ling ling to arrive. "It's already 5:30pm and she's not here yet" talking to no one in particular but herself to keep her mind off of the forms.
Right when she was gonna say something again the doorbell ring she got up quickly check on the peek hole making sure its Ling ling.
And definitely it's her with a bag of something inside. Opening the door An li gave Ling ling a look of ( Seriously ) look. "YOU ARE LATE" Ling ling I told you not to be late. You know that I don't eat past 6pm.
"Sorry sorry". I had to stop by the liquor store to get us some red wine for our dinner. And I got you your favorite wine cooler now let's go in and eat I'm hungry.
At the dinner table An li and Ling ling is having their food with wine. An-li's apartment isn't big, but just right to have room for a couple of friends over. So enjoying dinner with her friend is one thing she always wanted to do.
"Now that we finished eating, what was it that you wanna tell me An-li".
"Well it's um... well....um"?......
"An-li just spit it out already will you" why are you stalling?
"I am not stalling Ling ling it's just that, I don't know how to put it in words to make you understand "you probably think I am joking with you"... SIGH.....
"Just tell me will you"?
"Ok. But brace yourself for this" I never thought it'll happen to me again but it's the opposite way of it.
"what the heck do you mean again? But the opposite of it"?
"Our president at the company gave me a contract", he wanted me to sign it. But I gave him my answer already.
"An-li What contract? What answer? What are you saying?"
In a low voice An-li said ( marriage contract ). My answer was to have a couple more days to think. He said that I have tonight and tomorrow afternoon to think about it. So what do I do Ling ling.
"A WHAT Ling ling choking on her wine repeat what you just said.
"A marriage contract"
“A MARRIAGE CONTRACT". Is he crazy or are you playing a trick on me An-li.
“See I knew you would've say that". But it's really not a freaking joke.
“Ling ling I am freaking out here you know, what the hell do I do?"
"I-I-i think you need to slow down" anymore information and my mind will malfunction. I think I need another drink, standing up Ling ling went to the kitchen to pour another into her cup and drank the whole thing.
