The Devil She Must Love. Prologue Chapter. Dear Diary. It is every lady's epitome dream to have a loving husband who adores her, a family that appreciates her and a dream job to cater for her expenses. But, it doesn't always end that way. Does it? This is the story of my life. The life that I thank the Almighty for despite the tumbles that I have had. Where should I start? My highschool life, college life or exactly where I stand right now. It doesn't matter anyway, right? Though, I do have two paths that go hand in hand- "Cristabel!" Jenny yaps from inside the bathroom cabin. "Yes Sis." "Are you talking to someone?" "Brhh!" I brush. "No am not." I bark back, turning the dairies next page. "I swear I heard you talk with-" Jenny lips parts wide open after she flips the cabins door open, red handed catching me with her diary. "What the hell?" She barks, eyeing her diary on my things. I have my feet crossed over each other by the ankles. Seated on a black heavily buttoned leather couch. When I notice that she noticed my quire behaviour, am quick to hide it under my butt. "Cristabel!" "Jenny." "What are you doing?" She gives me a -disappointed in me- look. Her hands akimbo. She has a cream coloured hair wrap over her head and soft cultural wrap sheet under her right armpit and knotted over her left shoulder. She's got a toothbrush in her mouth and her lips are concealed with toothpaste foam. Her chocolate skin shimmers under the rent house lights. A perfect eyebrow, a natural wink, dark sexy eyes and dimpled cheeks. She is so illuminating. "Are you done?" "Am I done?" "Yeah, admiring me-?" "Oh! Gross." "Yeah that's what I thought. Now, what were you doing?" "Whatever you mean by that-" "Don't you play damn with me." "Am not." I brush. "I saw you. I saw you hide it. You want me to get it from you?" "Get what?" She paces my way. "Okay. Okay." I try to slow her down. "I will tell you what I were doing." "Get on with it then." "I were doing some studies." "Oh yeah? Wasn't college enough for you?" "I needed some research?" "Get up. I won't let you joystick with me." "Am serious." "Since when do you do research?" "Since, now-" I roll my eyes. "I knew you were lying." She pokes my nose. Not with a happy face though. -She lifts my slim figure off the sit onehanded. She always has this mighty strength I don't understand where it comes from. Perhaps Delilah cut a deal with her for Samson's hair rocks. Who knows?-- Still with me in the air, she fetches underneath me the hardcover booklet. Slides it to her view and flips it closed. "My diary!" She slams me back on the coach, real hard. "Ouch!" I pretentiously react. "What did we talked about boundaries?" "What about them?" -If her eyes were Superman's, rest in pieces she would slice me.- "God, you disgust me. You need to tame this nosy behaviour of yours." "I read nothing." "Now you deserve to be pinched." "Why?" I shove off her hand about to pinch me. "You know you're lying. Don't you?" "No am not." "My head is stress up and you want to spoon me more of it? Is mercy a vocabulary in you behavior" "You're always smiling. I can't tell the difference." "That's 'cause you don't pay attention." "I always do. I always ask you question but, you always dismiss them." "That's 'cause you always poke your nose where its doesn't belong." "How then are you blaming me? How was I supposed to know?" "Hell I should get a lock on my door." She hums looking at a distorted paper on her diary that I seated on. Shrugging, "l couldn't help. Am sorry. Why are you stressed up, again?" "Someone promised me to call me but he didn't." "Oh!" I hiss, adjusting myself on the coach. My feet heels next to my butt, my libs slouched to the couch and arm on the couch edge. She eyes me and I flatter my winks with excitement. She is busy making a bun. "No, Cristabel." "Am not taking no for an answer, Jen. Here!" I tap the sit. Just next to me. "I don't have time for chitchats Cris." "Why not." "I got an event to attend." "You always do." I dismiss. "Oh, come on. I told you about this." "Did you? Or did you said that as a means to miss my brothers arrival. You know how I feel about family." "Don't you do your pity talk on me. I have bend in the past for you, this ain't much to ask of you, Cris. Come on, it's just this one time." -I don't like it that she is planing to bale on me but I guess she is right. Not once or even twice she has stood by me. I guess this won't shutter a glass if I let her. Won't you agree?- She's been to her room and now at her door way. She is dressed in a maroon coloured burgundy off shoulder high low cocktail party dress. She so looks like a sexy damsel in inch high maroon wedged shoes and a similar coloured purse hanging on her left shoulder. "Are you going for a date." "No-" "She is going for a date. Aaaghhhh!" I scream with excitement. Jumping on the couch. "Please tell me you are going on a date-" "Why is it so important to you if am going on a date?" "Finally. One of us is finally up for hook up." "What!? Why are you so excited?" "It's been awful for two broken hearts to depend on each others sorrow for solace." "Is this what it's been about?" She swords my excitement short. "No! Of course not. Am just excited that one of us is finally gonna her shuttered heart mend. It's a good reason to celebrate, Jen. Isn't it?" "It should be." "What do you mean it should be?" She outs her breath. Her shoulders dropping with disappointment. "Cris. Am not going for a date. Am going to a gala event. Am hoping to meet the guy that was supposed to offer me a job." "What are you two gonna talk about?" "Am gonna ask him if I'm still gonna get the job?" I feel sorry for her. She has trekked roads for centuries unsuccessfully. She gets off my face and heads for the door. "You look amazing by the way." I intend my words to comfort her. She smirks back as she closes the door without a word. ~~~~~. .~~~~~ >>TO BE CONTINUED>> ©Rebecca Silver
