I woke up feeling happy. It seems like I've completed an eight hours of sleep. Or maybe it is because I'm going to meet Aaron at dinner. I shrugg off the excitement and ready myself to go to school.
As I got ready for school, Aaron's message popped out.
Aaron:
Good morning, my muse. Can't wait to see you at dinner tonight.
I felt a blush rise to my cheeks as I read his message, trying to focus on getting ready for school despite the excitement building inside me.
As I walked out of the house, I couldn't help but feel like this was going to be a special day. I caught myself smiling as I thought about our conversation earlier.
My mind wandered back to Aaron's words and what he might have planned for us tonight.
I type a reply.
Me to Aaron:
I'm excited for it too. But for now I'm going to class.
Aaron:
Ahah, me too, duty calls. But don't worry, my muse, I'll be thinking of you all day. And tonight... well, let's just say it's going to be an unforgettable evening.
I felt a shiver run down my spine as I read his message, trying to focus on the road ahead despite the excitement building inside me.
As I walked into class, I couldn't help but feel like this was going to be a long day until we could finally meet up at dinner.
You know, it's strange. It feels like the universe has a twisted sense of humor sometimes.
Like, if you want time to move quickly, it slows down. And if you’re just trying to get through the day, trying to make it go by fast, that’s when it drags on forever. But when you want it to slow down, to hold onto the moment, it just slips away like sand through your fingers. It’s like time has a mind of its own, and no matter how hard you try to control it, you’re always one step behind.
Today in school, for example... It was so boring.
I mean, absolutely nothing happened. I tried to pay attention, I really did. But the teacher’s voice just blended into the background, and everything around me felt like a blur.
Every minute dragged on, stretching longer and longer, like the clock was purposely teasing me. I couldn’t wait for the bell to ring, to just escape from the classroom, from the dullness.
But the more I stared at the clock, the slower the seconds seemed to tick by. It’s like I willed the time to slow down, and, of course, it listened.
I swear, it’s almost as if the harder I try to rush through the day, the more time laughs in my face and says, “Not so fast. You’ll wait.”
And then, just when I finally give up, when I’ve accepted that the day will be as long as it wants to be, that’s when it turns around. That’s when the bell rings. And suddenly, it’s over.
I stretch my hand and put my things in my bag. I stood up from the chair and was about to go outside when my friend Yna stop me.
"What?" I complain.
"Join us at the party later, you didn't join us yesterday saying you have family dinner with your father's best friend," she said sulking.
"But I'm busy, Yna. I'll be meeting my father's best friend again tonight." I said gently to her.
"Shania please, just this once. Join us please? Who is this your father's best friend anyway?" She plead.
"But—" I didn't finish my words when someone butts in.
"She can't go, unless you let me join your party," alow and husky voice said.
My eyes widened when I heard the voice. It was from Aaron!
"What are you doing here?" I asked surprised.
Aaron's eyes locked onto mine, his gaze intense and piercing.
"I think I know why your friend invited you to join their little party," he said seriously.
Yna looked at us with an annoyed expression, clearly not happy about the sudden interruption.
"Can we please just focus on the party? We're trying to plan something special for tonight," Yna said probably irritated with the man she doesn't know.
Aaron chuckled low in his throat, his eyes never leaving mine.
"Oh, don't worry about it. I'm sure Shania will make an exception this one time. Won't you, my muse?" he whispered the last words.
I blushed at Aaron's teasing, feeling a flutter in my chest.
The air was thick with tension as Aaron's words hung between us, the unspoken understanding palpable.
"How about our dinner tonight, Aaron?" I whispered to him.
"Are you saying that you won't allow Shania to join the party, unless you're coming too?" Shania raised her brow, probably thinking who's the guy who suddenly butts in.
Aaron chuckled and wrapped his arms around my waist. "That's right. Shania won't be joining your party, unless I'm there. I don't want my girl to meet some weird guys in your party. So I'm going to accompany her." he said confidently to Yna.
"Oh my! Are you Shania's boyfriend?" Yna's eyes widened.
"Yes, I'm his boyfriend," Aaron replied, he smirked at me.
Yna then turned to me "You didn't tell me you have a boyfriend!" She said excitedly. "OMG! OMG!" she exclaimed.
"Yna" I called her softly to calm her down.
"I'll just update you later. We got to go."
"Sure girl!" she said happily at me.
Aaron lead me to his car. I turned to him when I sat on the passenger seat.
"What are you doing here really? And did you just agree for me to join the party while you're accompanying me there?" I asked.
Aaron's eyes sparkled with amusement as he started the car.
"Ahah, you're a clever one, my muse. Yes, I agreed to let you join the party on one condition: that I'm there too. And as for what I'm doing here... well, let's just say I miss you," he whispered the last three words seductively.
I felt a thrill run through me as Aaron's words hinted at something exciting and unknown.
"Besides, your friend won't be able to resist your charms once she sees how beautiful you look in that dress." He glanced at the backseat and I saw a black dress.
"And who knows? Maybe we'll even make some new friends tonight," he said teasingly.
I reach the black dress he's referring to.
"Did you bought this for me?" My eyes twinkled when I saw its shining design.
"Yes, do you like it?" he said, his gaze switching from me and the road ahead.
"What is this for? Why did you bought this?" I asked curiously, still amazed with it.
"Well I just imagine that you're wearing that dress, and think you look ravish when you finally wore that," he smirked.
"But enough about that. Let's focus on getting ready for tonight," he said.
