Chapter 10

794 Words
"Where's my parents?" I asked Yaya Soling. Yaya Soling is our maid, a middle-aged woman with a kind face, smiled and replied, "They are on their room Shania, probably resting since it's late. Do you want to eat?" "No, Ya. I'm full, we ate at Aaron's house." "Aaron, that kind man, he's married isn't he? Have you met his wife?" she asked. I stiffen with the mention of Aaron's wife. "Yes, Ya," I replied timidly. "What can you say about her, then? Is she kind? I remember when you were young, you always tell me how you admire Aaron," she smiled as if those moments were just yesterday. "Uhh... I didn't have the opportunity to interact with her. But, I don't like her, Ya," I said honestly. I don't like her for him. She doesn't deserve Aaron. I clenched my fist at the thought of his wife. "Emma doesn't seem like the kind of person who would appreciate someone like Aaron," I continued, a pang of jealousy rising up inside me. But then I thought of Aaron himself, how his eyes are always fixed on me, like there's no one else is in the room, like there's nothing important to him, but me. I smiled, the jealousy suddenly faded. The thought sends a shiver down my spine as I try to push it away. But deep down, I know that there's something between us - a secret we both wanted to protect. "Anyway, I'm going to my room now, Ya. Goodnight," I said to Yaya Soling as I make my way to the stairway. I entered my room and saw the photo above my bedside table. It was us, Aaron and me. He was hugging me from the back, his arms enveloping my waist, his chin resting on my shoulder. We were happy back then, if it isn't because of Emma who ruin everything. A lone tear escape my eye. I shrugged at the thought, and force myself to sleep, but before I could sleep, a message popped out on my phone. Aaron: I miss you. Are you asleep? I bit my lip as I read his message for me. Me to Aaron: You’re crazy, we were just together earlier, and you already miss me? I smiled to myself as I type a reply, feeling a flutter in my chest. "Aaron's being silly again," I talk to myself, shaking my head. But then I couldn't help but feel a little thrill at the thought of him missing me. It was sweet, and it made me feel special. My fingers flew across the keyboard as I typed out a new message again. Me to Aaron: I'm not asleep yet. And even if I were, you'd probably just find a way to wake me up anyway. I sent the message off and waited for his response, feeling a sense of excitement building inside me. The phone buzzed in my hand as Aaron's response came through. Aaron: You're right, I would. And I'd make sure you wake up with a smile on your face. I felt a blush rise to my cheeks as I read his message, my heart beating faster in anticipation. Me to Aaron: Oh? And how would you do that? I typed out the question, feeling a sense of playfulness and curiosity. Aaron's response came quickly, sending shivers down my spine. Aaron: Let's just say...I have some ideas... I chuckled to myself, feeling a sense of intrigue. My fingers flew across the keyboard as I typed out my response. Me to Aaron: Hmm... I wonder what that idea is? Aaron: Maybe over dinner tonight? After Emma leaves? I felt a flutter in my chest at the suggestion, knowing that it would be just us two alone together after Emma left. Me to Aaron: I can't wait for that. Aaron: Good. I've been waiting for this moment for a long time. You have no idea how much I want to be alone with you. I felt a blush rise to my cheeks as I read his message, my heart racing with excitement. Me to Aaron: Let's meet at dinner tomorrow, then. I'm going to sleep now. Goodnight, sweet dreams. I sent my reply, feeling satisfied with our conversations. I think I can get a good sleep now, knowing that Emma will be out of the picture. Aaron: Sweet dreams, my muse. I'll be thinking of you all night. Tomorrow can't come soon enough. I felt a smile spread across my face as I read his message, knowing that he was just as excited as I was. As I drifted off to sleep, I couldn't help but think about what tomorrow might bring. My mind wandered to the possibilities, imagining us alone together in the house.
