PROLOGUE
What happens when a struggling girl with nothing but stubborn pride collides with a man who destroys everything he touches? Amelia Winters did not believe in fate. Fate did not pay bills. Fate did not get you a job. Fate did not fix the emptiness that came from losing everything too early. So no—she did not believe in it. Until him. "You're staring," the man said lazily, his voice deep enough to send an unfamiliar shiver down her spine. Amelia stiffened. "I am not," she snapped, immediately looking away. A lie. A very obvious lie. Because standing in front of her was the kind of man people wrote warnings about. Tall. Impossibly composed. Dressed in wealth that didn't need announcing. His presence alone bent the air around him. And those eyes… They were not kind. They studied her like she was something to take apart slowly. He stepped closer. Too close. "Are you sure this isn't an invitation?" he murmured, voice dropping just enough to feel dangerous. "The way you're looking at me… it's almost like you want to be caught." Her throat went dry. "I don't want anything to do with you, sir." But her face betrayed her. Heat rushed to her cheeks, and his lips curved—slow, knowing, cruel. "Relax," he said softly, stepping back like he had already won something. "You're not my type." That stung more than it should have. "I like wild girls," he added, eyes glinting with amusement. "Not kittens." And just like that— He walked away. Leaving behind a racing heart, burning cheeks… …and a storm that would ruin her life. This is my first time writing a Standard novel although I have been dropping stories on my f*******: page @ HADEPEJU NOVELS, you can check it if you are interested [ please do check it].
