Chapter 1 ~ Two Sides To The Intro
{Violet’s POV}
Wolfville High! A school for Feral Supernaturals and Prodigious Shifters alike. A school for the strong, the savage, the puissant, the keen, the mighty, the redoubtable, and… me. Wolfless, powerless, and lowly me.
My name is Violet Hunter and I’m a twenty-one years old she-wolf from the Hunter family, and my life is a f*****g mess!
To cut my long, doleful story short, my family had sent me to Wolfville High because they had given up on my situation and had sent me here with the hopes that I would find my mate— since the majority of the Werewolf population found their mates in Wolfville, and finally be able to unlock my wolf and become normal like everyone else— Finally lose my “Cursed Lily” title.
I, on the other hand, really needed to fix my life for the sake of my dying mother who has Scutlock— a deadly wolf disease. And If getting locked up in a school where I was the only odd number was the only way I could unlock my wolf and put a smile on my dying mum’s face, then I would do it.
Sigh…
Alas, something odd but lovely happened when I got here. Turns out my life might not be as messy as I had thought it would be, as within the first week of my arrival, I had found for myself, a boyfriend, Daniel Rawlet— a cute pro-shifter ranker.
I had been puzzled when a stunning Chap had walked up to me in the Cafeteria and offered to show me around the school. But I was even more baffled when he abruptly confessed that he was strongly attracted to me a few days later.
As in his own words, “Vii, it’s strange but I find myself always wanting to be around you and I don’t just understand why.”
Like, what?
Don’t get me wrong, I relished every instance of his steamy, impassioned confession. In fact, the butterflies that had flooded my belly that day had even threatened to gush out through my throat. But it had been all too sudden and strange, especially since nobody had ever acted that way towards “Cursed Lily“. He didn’t know of my condition yet anyway, and I decided to keep it that way, as revealing that I was twenty-one and wolfless might just make him scuttle away from my life… everybody eventually does.
We became close friends and did stuff together— even though he was a pretty popular ranker who moved with the big dogs and I was uhm, nobody! We also went on a couple of dates, but that’s not the best part…
Just last week, Daniel told me something weirdly shocking— but exciting at the same time! He told me that I was his mate! … And I was like “Dude, you must be crazy!” but I didn’t tell him that. I had flaunted my cheery smile at him and had hugged him instead.
Surely, I had been baffled and dazed by his queer revelation, but I was forced to believe him. Apart from his seriousness during that dialogue, it helped make things make sense. Finally, I could understand why such a hunky sketch like himself was so fervidly drawn to a plain Jane like me.
Even though I had no way to authenticate his claim— as I was wolfless, I had decided to embrace his revelation with the hopes that he was telling the truth and would help me unlock my wolf as my mate.
So I played the Oscar Nominated Actress and told him that I also felt the mate pull… and I artfully acted it out. He believed me— obviously, and with that, our friendship melted into an emotive love story.
I had felt like a fair queen as I embraced the bliss of having a mate. And even now that our relationship was only a week old and based on falsity on my part, I found myself actually falling in love with Daniel, fated or not fated.
With this, maybe my life actually had a chance at happiness. Maybe there was finally hope. Maybe I would soon get my wolf.
I strolled through the Wilter hallway now towards my locker, which was on the east wing of the School. The halls were somewhat quiet as most of the students were having Tactics Lessons, of which I was supposed to be a part if I wasn’t so busy howling about how confusing my life was.
I finally got to my locker and realizing how late I was for Tactics, I swiftly punched in my Locker passcode and swung the door open.
A gasp escaped from my mouth as my eyes rested on the contents of my Locker. My books, my Crawl clothes, my manuals? Everything was wet! … bathed in some sort of slick juice.
Anger immediately soaked my being as I slowly circled my gaze around with one despicable name on my lips.
Ashley!
Ashley Queen, the so-called Bling Queen of Wolfville High, was that one wretch who liked to think that her last name was enough reason for her to rule over people's lives and do whatever she fancied. She was a Max-shifter ranker and was amongst the top students in Wolfville High, and this gave her the edge she used to harass rookie rankers— like me.
However, she became Wolfville’s Demi goddess when she dated the most dishy and dreamy guy ever— Liam Cornaro. He was the stunning Captain of the School’s Football team, Growlhalts, and every girl’s dream guy— including mine! But I digress.
Ashley and Liam were exes now but Ashley still remained the ever so galling b***h she was meant to be.
When I joined Wolfville, Ashley Queen somehow found out about my secret, but she had settled not to tell anyone and instead has been using it as a reason to torture and blackmail me ever since. What made it even worse was the fact that I couldn’t retaliate, because then she’d just whisper out my secret to the entire school and then, I’ll be fully f****d!
So my saving routine was to just keep mute and endure all the miseries because Ashley and her b***h gang practically ruled Wolfville High.
“f**k!” I suddenly yelled, loud enough for an onlooker to think I’d just gone mad.
I returned my glare back to my smeared Locker and all I could feel was anger bubbling inside of me. With this, I realized I had given the wrong intro for this damned school, hence I’d redo it.
“Wolfville High!” I started with a grim tone. “A school for Feral Supernaturals and Prodigious Shifters, but also a school for Jackasses, galling Bullies, and punchable bitches… like Ashley Que—”
“Oh no, Violet.” A familiar voice rang from behind, interrupting my rageful outburst. “You’re speaking your thoughts out loud again!” The voice added with a growing chortle. I knew it was Elsa, my best friend, so I didn’t spare a stare but kept on glaring at my Locker as if my gaze would eventually melt it.
Oh and yeah, I had a best friend, but this was also a recent development. Elsa Darwell became my best friend after she saved me from a really awkward conversation with a creepy dude last month. Elsa was also in Rookie Shifter ranker just like myself, and the fact that we both hated the same heinous Creature— Ashley Queen, totally complimented our friendship.
Elsa got to my side now and smacked me playfully on the shoulder. “Violet,” She mouthed with her growing giggle. “Somedays, I’m forced to think you’re already losing it.” She was already chuckling now and I rolled my eyes and didn’t bother looking at her, knowing she was yet to realize the situation.
“Because why else would you…” She trailed off and I guessed her gaze had finally joined mine in my slimed Locker.
Promptly, I swerved my glare to her face, and the expression she now had on melted my glare and forced me to chortle.
“You look like you have just seen a cat retching out a Gas tank.” I chortled, aiming my finger at her baffled expression. We had literally switched roles.
“Vii, who did this?” Her shock still stretched her face. ”Your Locker looks like a like a f*****g dump of sludge and muck. This is wicked!” Her guise was still very amusing but she was right.
I grew back my frown. “We both know who did it, Elsa.” I knitted my brows tighter. “But what I don’t know is how that Louse managed to hack open my Locker.” I mouthed and noticed the hall was slowly becoming rowdy with students.
“I’ll deal with this later, Elsa.” I picked up my bag that I had dropped to the ground during my puzzlement. “I need to be in Tactics class now.”
“You mean the one that ended three minutes ago?” She said and I almost replied ‘yes’ to her chaffing statement before I realized what it meant.
“No no no! I can’t miss Tactics again!” I complained, clawing my fingers in the air.
“Uh… I think you already have.” Elsa mumbled almost under her breath, but I heard her.
“Elsa. Not helpful!” I glowered at her and she threw her stare to the side in defeat.
“I need to go see Mr. McDermott and feed him any lie I can come up with,” I muttered and started backing away from Elsa and the messy scene. “I can’t afford a retake.” I told, still sauntering away.
“But we have Combat classes next,” Elsa said, gesturing her hands apart with a familiar scowl ruling her face.
“I know. I’ll meet you there. Help me save what you can from my Locker… and call a Cleaner. I love you!” I voiced, putting emphasis on the ‘you’.
She’ll hate me one day.
Soon I was out of Elsa’s murderous glaring range and strolling towards the Raite Theater in which Tactics Lessons had just been concluded.
As I sauntered casually past a chain of abandoned rooms, I was suddenly brought to a halt when my ears caught the sound of a very familiar voice.
While my legs paused their motion, my heart picked up a pace as I recognized that voice.
It was my boyfriend’s— Daniel’s… and he wasn’t alone!
