Chapter 1
"What are you two doing?!"
Seeing the two half-n***d people on the bed, I trembled with anger. I never imagined Homer would do such a thing behind my back.
"Ah!!!"
The two on the bed were startled by my sudden appearance.
My husband, Homer, was the first to react, pulling the blanket to cover both of them.
Caught in the act of a******y, he showed no guilt on his face and even had the nerve to scold me without batting an eye.
"What are you doing here?! Go back quickly. Don't embarrass me in public."
Hearing his words, I stared at him in shock, my eyes wide open. 'He cheats, and I'm the one embarrassing him?! What kind of ridiculous logic is this?!'
Anger surged to my head, and I could feel steam coming out of my ears.
I grabbed a pillow from the floor and hit Homer with it.
"You cheated! And with Flora, how could you do this to me? How could you?! Homer! How could you treat me like this!"
I was incredibly hurt, crying and beating Homer furiously.
Homer yelled while frantically trying to dodge. "Damn it, you crazy woman, stop hitting me!"
Flora, wrapped in the blanket, screamed loudly. "Ah ah ah ah, stop it, stop it!!!"
In the chaos, Homer's face turned red from my beating, and his face was covered in scratch marks from my nails.
In his anger, he pushed me to the ground and pointed at me, cursing loudly.
"Flora is your sister. Her husband is disabled and can't have children. What's wrong with me lending my sperm to help her have a baby? Why are you being so petty?!"
Hearing his words, I lay on the ground, staring at him in shock with wide eyes.
"Homer, what are you saying?! You cheated, and now you're claiming it's a good deed?!"
Unexpectedly, Homer continued to lie without any shame.
"Of course it is. I'm just doing a good deed. Marrying a disabled person like that. Forgetting about children, Flora would never be happy for her entire life! Besides, Flora is your sister. Isn't taking care of her also for your sake?! Can't you stop being so petty?!"
Flora chimed in from the side.
"That's right, Vera, do you really want me to marry that disabled man and live a life of emptiness and loneliness forever? We're sisters, it's just one man, what's wrong with sharing him with me?! Besides, Homer is the one putting in the effort. If he doesn't mind, how can you be so narrow-minded?!"
Homer nodded repeatedly in agreement.
Looking at him puffing out his chest and holding his head high, I felt momentarily dazed.
It was as if what he had done wasn't an act that violated morality and human ethics but some kind of good deed to help others.
I couldn't help but feel nauseous, wishing I could vomit right then and there.
"Homer, don't forget, Wilson is your own uncle! Flora is your future aunt. Your behavior is simply i****t. How can you even stomach it?!"
Mentioning this, Homer became even more smug.
"So what?! He's just a useless cripple now! Does a useless person have the right to control the Garfield family?! My mom said that Wilson's health will only get worse, and when that time comes, I'll be able to take back both the Garfield family and Flora!"
Seeing Homer looking like the cat that got the cream, my face was full of disbelief.
'How could he have become like this?!
He used to be a refined and cultured person, not someone with such a spoiled and depraved nature.
Can time really change a person so completely?!
Or was everything we had experienced before just my illusion?!'
*****
Flora, right in front of me, admiringly took Homer's hand.
"Homer, you're so handsome, so charming, I've long been drawn to your radiance, I love you so much that I can't help myself! You're the knight in shining armor in my heart!"
As she spoke, she looked at me with tears in her eyes. "Vera, I'm begging you, please give us your blessing. Even if it means sharing a husband, I'm willing to serve Homer. Please give me this chance. I really like Homer, I truly love him! Even if no one supports us, I will brave societal prejudices to be with him! Please give us your blessing!"
Flora's bold declaration of love moved Homer deeply.
He immediately took Flora's hand and placed it on his chest, his face full of deep affection.
"Flora, to hold your hand and grow old with you, I won't let your love for me down. You're truly the person who understands me the most in this world!"
Flora responded with tears in her eyes.
"Homer, as long as I can be with you, even if I don't have a proper status and have to be a mistress who can't be seen in public for life, I don't mind!"
Her words were full of sweet talk, and her tactics of playing hard to get directly captured Homer's heart.
How could he bear to let such an "understanding" Flora suffer even the slightest grievance?!
Then he turned to look at me, his face clearly showing his contempt.
His coldness towards me formed a stark contrast with the deep affection he had just shown Flora.
He demanded in a commanding tone. "Vera, I'm giving you two choices. Either you accept Flora joining us, we'll coexist peacefully, and life can go on, or we divorce, and you make way for Flora! Think carefully. Giving you the right to choose is already my ultimate generosity. You can't have all of me. If it weren't for Flora being so understanding and willing to accommodate you, I would have thrown you out directly!"
He tilted his head back, looking down at me condescendingly.
As if offering me two choices was some grand gesture.
As if he was expecting me to grovel, thank him, and beg him not to abandon me.
I glanced at Flora from the corner of my eye. Her face was full of smugness and provocation.
How come I never noticed before that she had such potential to be a villainous side character?!
Looking at the two people yelling at me, I'd had enough.
I swiftly got up from the ground and walked up to them. I plastered a smile on my face.
"I choose..."
Both of them looked at me intently, waiting for me to make this degrading decision.
