Chapter 4

Stella started to feel the strength dissipate from her body. She could struggle no more. Her body was still suspended in the air due to being carried with a single hand by the man, monster, or whatever he was. Stella's sight became blurry. Her vision became very unclear, and she felt very, very dizzy. Maybe it was because of all the running she had been doing; perhaps it was because of her fight with and struggle with the brothers, which had drained most of her strength; maybe it was the blood she had lost and the one she was losing; the one pouring out of the bite that this monster had given her. Whatever it was that caused it, she wasn't sure, but she found herself losing consciousness and blacking out. The next time Stella came to, she found herself in the middle of a throne room. Stella was lying on the marble floor, her hair tossed about when her eyes fluttered open, and she looked up. She saw magnificent seats on high chairs as tall as buildings. Rising to her feet, Stella looked around in shock. Where was she? The roof of the hall she stood on was so high she was sure a three-story building could fit in the hall. On the right side were some people seated on high chairs, and on the left were equally people, mostly older men and women, seated on high chairs. The chairs were not only tall; they seemed to be made of precious stones and diamonds. They all looked at her with haughty expressions. Stella was greatly confused. 'This is a throne room. If I'm in one, it means there's a throne, right?" She looked up and saw an equally high throne. Only, it was even higher than the chairs the people on the sides were sitting on. It was made of pure gold and was glittering scandalously. Below it were several steps, probably to get to it because no normal person could climb such a huge chair without help. Stella looked at the throne and started to count the steps. They were about a hundred in total. If she started from… "Is this the girl?" the loud voice of someone boomed in her ears. She looked right to see where the voice had come from and saw that it was an older man with a very long, grey-plaited beard. "Yes, she is the girl," someone replied behind her. Stella looked back and was met with the glowing eyes of before, walking towards her… She fell backward, terrified, and the memories of him pinning her down and almost taking her lifeline floated into her head. It had been a traumatizing incident. How was she even alive? "Relax," the man, whose eyes never seemed to close as Stella noticed she had never seen it blink before, said with a smile. "I'm not going to hurt you." "Oh, like I'd believe you!" She shouted. The man stopped walking, placing his hands in his trousers. "I am not. I apologize for our earlier encounter and my apparent rudeness. I thought you were a trespasser from another pack," he said, placing his hands on his chest and bowing his head. Rudeness? Stella got up on her feet and faced him. "Rudeness? Do you call that rudeness? Mere rudeness? You almost killed me motherfucker!" "I apologize for my actions. I was unaware of your heritage. It was only when the necklace reflected that I realized that you are of royal blood." "Oh, so you ain't even trying to deny that you tried to kill me? What even are you?!" She turned to the people seated on the high chairs. "Can you see?! This man is a criminal! He tried to kill me! Someone should call the police before he does it again?!" 'Police?" one of the old men seated on the right asked, " What is that?" Stella turned to the man and started to answer, "The police, as in…" Then, she suddenly stopped, her eyes wide with surprise. The older man had long wolf ears growing out of his head! What's in the world?! She looked at him with great shock. "What's that on your head?! Are those wolf ears I see?" Then she looked at the man beside him and nearly fell back in shock. The man was not even human. He was a wolf with red fur, who sat like a human being and wore human clothes. She looked around, observing the faces of the men that surrounded her. Only then did she notice that they were not entirely human. Some were wolves, large and fierce with so much fur and a menacing presence. Some stood on their feet like humans while others stood on all fours. Her heart beat rapidly as she looked around, horrified. What was this? Where was she? Who was she? She started to step backward until she felt her back hitting a hard surface. When she looked back, she saw that it was the man with red eyes she had hit. The rock-hard surface she had thought was a wall was his chest. She immediately drew away from him, looking at his face and, for the first time, observing his features. He looked human, yet his complexion was deathly pale. He stood tall with an athletic build; his hair jet black, his eyes an endless pool of black. His features are sharply defined, exuding an air of mystery. And last of all, he was extremely handsome. Stella blinked as she looked at him. Wait a second, why were his eyes black? Weren't his eyes red just now? "Your eyes." The man chuckled. "Yes?" "Why are they black?" "Oh, this? These are my normal eyes." Stella also watched as his complexion, which was almost as white as a sheet of paper, began to have more color. What was this? Where was she? Was she dreaming? The man took another step towards her. Stella raised her fists. "Stay there! If you dare come near me, I swear to God…" "Kaiden, Kaiden. You are at it again. "Why are you scaring the poor girl?" Stella looked right and saw a man approaching them. He had a lean, agile build, tousled sandy hair, and bright, inquisitive blue eyes. His demeanor was relaxed yet alert. He was dressed in blue, royal clothes, and he had a smile on his face as he walked towards her. He still looked human, at least, yet Stella could not trust him. Suddenly, an ancient voice echoed through the throne room, commanding everyone's attention. An elderly woman emerged from the shadows behind the golden throne, her eyes milky white with blindness but somehow seeing everything. She moved with a walking stick carved from bone, her long silver hair flowing like water. "The Seer approaches," whispered voices throughout the room as every creature—wolf and human-like alike—bowed their heads in reverence. "Silence," the Seer commanded, her voice carrying otherworldly authority. She approached Stella, her blind eyes seeming to look directly into her soul. "The lost daughter has returned," the Seer announced, her voice growing stronger. "Just as the ancient prophecy foretold." Stella backed away, but the Seer continued advancing, her walking stick tapping rhythmically against the marble floor. "Hear now the words spoken by the Moon Goddess herself, written in blood and starlight long before your birth, child." The entire throne room fell into absolute silence. Even Kaiden stepped back, his expression grave. The Seer raised her arms toward the ceiling, and her voice transformed into something ancient and powerful: *"When the blood moon rises and silver tears fall, The lost daughter should return to answer the call. Born of two worlds but belonging to none, She shall unite the packs or see them undone.* *With power to heal and power to destroy, The choice shall be hers—to save or annoy. Seven kingdoms shall bow or seven shall burn, When the Alpha Queen claims what she must earn.* *Beware the silver light that flows through her veins, For it brings either freedom or binding chains. The wolf who loves her shall live or shall die, Depending on whether she learns to fly.* *When the moon bleeds red and the stars truly align, "The prophecy ends with what she chooses to do."* As the Seer finished speaking, her blind eyes suddenly focused directly on Stella, and she smiled— an expression both terrifying and knowing. "The prophecy speaks of you, child. You are the Alpha Queen foretold. The question remains—will you save us all, or will you destroy everything we hold dear?" Stella's necklace began to glow with an eerie silver light, responding to the prophecy's words. Around the room, wolves began to howl—some in reverence, others in fear. "That's impossible," Stella whispered, but even as she spoke, she felt something awakening deep within her, something powerful and dangerous that had been sleeping her entire life. The Seer turned to Kaiden, her expression growing darker. "And you, Alpha Kaiden Bowden, must choose whether to trust the one who may be your salvation—or your destruction."
