As she stared at her transformed hands, one thought blazed through her mind clearer than the silver light:
Everything she thought she knew about herself had been a lie.
“What’s happening? What is this?” Reid said, quickly backing away from her with fear in his eyes.
“She’s a monster!” The other brother shouted.
Stella got on her feet, feeling even more hair and fur cover her skin like velvet. And then she howled, a loud howl that resounded around the mansion. She had transformed into a werewolf for the first time. But Stella was not in full control of her senses. But her other senses were heightened. Suddenly she could hear the sounds of the birds in the distance, the distant sounds of the animals in the forest. She could see very far as well and her sense of smell was very good. She could smell Reid peeing his pants in fear and she lunged at him.
Before she knew it, she was out of the brother’s grips, grabbing them by their necks and slamming their heads against each other—the sound of bones breaking filling the air.
Everything was a blur: Freeing herself from their grips, slamming their heads together, grabbing Desmond by his collar and punching him in the guts, blood flying from his mouth, Reid holding her from behind, her turning and giving him a kick on his head. And before she knew it, she was on top of Reid, slamming her fists into his face, blood splattering on the walls, on her hands, on her face, on her clothes.
Soon, Reid was not moving again. She looked down at him and saw only…blood and teeth and bones.
Horrified by the sight, Stella fled the compound, not knowing where she was going.
She kept running and soon found herself in the thick forest, lost and not knowing how she got there. Then she realized she was running on all fours?! Why was she running like an animal? She did not really remember transforming into a werewolf so she was confused.
Her senses slowly returned to her as she ran, the large fur of her hair disappearing, her paws returning to hands, her senses returning to normal. She stopped running on her hands and continued running on her legs. She was too scared to question all that had happened. She just needed to escape.
“Oh no! How did I get here? It's quite dark, and I was running blindly, but I didn’t know I'd find myself here of all places!”
Stella looked around, terrified. It was dark and cold. She looked up. The clusters of the trees that formed a canopy blocked the sky. She could see nothing.
She heard strange sounds as she walked through the forest, stepping on dried twigs, her face occasionally hitting three branches.
She could see the faint outline of fallen trees, logs, branches, twigs, fallen leaves, ferns, brambles, thickets, ivy, berry bushes, with insects, rabbits, birds, squirrels, lizards, scrambling about.
She hoped she would not encounter a wild animal.
She could hear the wind whistling, birds singing, insects humming, scrabbling lizards on tree bark.
But the indefinite path of the forest was not an easy one.
She fell several times as she walked, landing on dried leaves, dead branches, and several crawling insects.
There was also a strange smell in the air.
After falling for the fourth time, Stella got on her feet, and just as she was regaining her balance, she felt a heavy force hit her, knocking her off her feet.
What was that?!
She realized that it was a person. She opened her eyes and was met with the glowing red eyes of someone and the outline of a hairy face.
“What?! Who are you?!” She said, shoving him away. The thing flew almost falling but regained his balance, his hands and feet on the floor. Then he stood up.
The person, who seemed to be a man, said nothing. Instead, he opened his mouth, revealing a set of glowing fangs, which ordinarily, Stella should not see in such a dark setting, yet she could see the bright whiteness.
What was he? He certainly wasn't human! Not with such eyes and fangs. A demon? She also noticed he was very huge and was that animal fur on his skin? What? No human was that hairy? Why was he so hairy?! An animal? No, he was a man, a man and an animal. What was she saying? And yet there was something strangely familiar about him. Like she had met him before. She looked at him, their gazes locking. Then her eyes fell on his hand. Claws, long unrealistic claws, were in his fingers. How could a human have such claws? The man took another step forward but she stood her ground.
“Another wolf in my territory? Didn’t your pack warn you that this territory is off limits?!” The man bellowed.
Terrified, Stella began to pack away. She did not get what he was saying but she knew he was angry. Witg the speed of light, the man was in front of her and he grabbed her neck.
“Get off me!” she managed to say, trying to push the man off her, but he was too strong.
Then she realized his face coming closer and closer to hers.
“No. Don't get close! Please…”
Stella let out an ear-splitting scream as the man raised his hand. Lightning struck in the sky and the split-second flash of light that shone on them, Stella saw the long sharp claws coming straight at her face.
