CHAPTER 11

MIRA Crescenda sighed deeply before responding to my query. "I said your mother was a great friend of ours. Pay attention, I don't like to repeat myself," she said, sounding annoyed. “My mother is dead. I never met her and nobody seemed to know anything about her, so I was relegated to the position of an omega in my pack. So forgive me for asking questions!" I said to her and she sighed again. "I knew they should have sent somebody else for this," she muttered under her breath, and I stared at her in surprise. She didn't just say what I heard her say. " Listen, I knew your mother. Too well, actually. And that is why I came to your rescue tonight. I saw the mess that you helped those fools create, and I am not pleased. Especially because of the person you are messing with. Do you know who Athena is?” Crescenda asked me and I furrowed my brows in confusion. I understand that she is not pleased. I'm also not pleased with myself. " I don't think I understand what you are asking me. Athena was the rightful Luna of our pack, but she got cheated out of the position by her mate and her half-sister with the help of her father. What else am I missing?" I asked Crescenda. “A lot, a whole lot. You will stay here in the meantime. At least, till we can certify that you can carry out the assignment that has been given to you,” Crescenda said to me, further increasing confusion. "Hold on a minute! What are you talking about? What mission? Who the hell are you people again? What do you do and how does whatever this is concern me?” I asked Crescenda, already getting agitated with the entire situation. There was no way I was going to be walking into a situation that would put me or my son in danger. Crescenda sighed deeply. “I am the wrong one for this job! I told them to send somebody else, but they said I should work on my people skills! I don't like people!" Crescenda began to mutter to herself and I raised a brow at her. Was she crazy? “Listen! We are the harrow wolves, descendants of the moon goddess who have special assignments given to them. Your mother was one of us, meaning that you are one of us too," Crescenda said to me, and I stared at her. “What?" I said to her, and she sighed deeply. She actually looked like she wanted to hit my head on something, but I was ready for her. I would do anything to save my son. Speaking of my son, I immediately swooped him into my arms and wrapped him up. I don't think I want to be here any longer. “Hold on! Let's start this over!” Crescenda said to me, and I stopped. “Okay, my name is Crescenda. From the harrow wolves, we are descendants of the moon goddess, and we have unique powers aimed at providing balance to different aspects of the werewolf realm. Are we clear on that?" Crescenda said to me and I nodded my head because I understood that much. I knew I had many questions, but she didn't have to talk to me like I was a simpleton! " Yes, I understand what you are saying!” I said to her and she sighed. "Good, your mission was to protect Athena, but you helped them in screwing her over. Before you say anything, I know it wasn't your fault, but that is the reality that we are facing right now. Which brings me to the next thing I'm about to say; you will be staying here until we can certify that you are ready for your mission. Any questions?” Crescenda said to me and I nodded my head. “What does this certification entail and how do I get out of it?" I asked Crescenda, who stared me dead in the eyes. “You get out of it when you're dead," Crescenda said to me and I clutched my child to my bosom. “Crescenda, we asked you to bring her home and not inspire her to run at the first opportunity she gets,” someone said from thin air, and I began to frantically look around to find out where the voice was coming from. When I turned to look at Crescenda she looked bored. "I told you not to send me, but you insisted, and now a disaster has almost happened. Can I leave now?” Crescenda said, and a woman stepped out of the shadows. “No, watch and learn." the lady turned to me with a smile. " Hello, my name is Selene, the leader of the hallow wolves. It's my pleasure to meet you, Mira. I have been wanting to get around to doing that, but it was just never the right time. With time, you will get to understand. This place was specifically prepared for you. It is meant to ease you into our world," she said, before fixing her eyes on my son. " I see you have a son, what a blessing!” I nodded my head. Though I wasn't quite sure I wanted whatever it was that they were proposing. “You have to forgive me, but I don't feel comfortable here. I was running for my life and had stumbled into something that I never knew existed until now. So forgive my skepticism,” I said to her and she nodded her head. "I hold nothing against you. All we ask is that you give us the time to show you what we are and what we do. That way you can be effectively useful to Athena, who I assumed you wanted to make things right with,” Selene said to me and I nodded my head. Athena didn't deserve what happened to her. The least I could do was to help her by making things right, but I'm yet to figure out what I need to do. “If you can promise to help me help Athena, then I'm willing to at least listen to all you have to say," I said to Selena, who beamed at me. "That is more than enough for now. Come then, let me show you around," Selene said to me before facing Crescenda with her lips curved into a smirk.
