Before he can answer, my phone goes off indicating I have received a text message.
Jay: Hey Lex, I just got home, and you aren’t here. Is everything OK?
I stared at my phone for a few minutes, completely shocked that he was acting like nothing had happened.
Me: Why the f**k do you care? Wasn’t your mistress enough for you? Why tell me to meet you if you were with her, just so I can get my heart broken to find out how much of a f*****g asshole you are?
Jay: What the f**k are you talking about? I haven’t got a mistress. Where is all this coming from? I never told you to meet me anywhere. This is the first time I have contacted you today since I left for work sweetheart.
Me: Don’t sweetheart me and don’t you f*****g lie to me! I saw you at the coffee shop today kissing her. Why tell me to meet you there just so I could see that? Not to mention the photos I got sent of the two of you together. I’m not coming back. I have left town. I love you so much Jay, but this was just too much to handle. I hope she makes you happy and gives you whatever it was that I couldn’t.
Jay: Sweetheart, don’t do this please. I swear I don’t have a mistress. The kiss you saw I can explain and what photos? I have never been with anyone but you. Please, I am begging you to just come back home please. I promise I had nothing to do with kissing her. She kissed me. I will explain it all. Please just come back. I only love you. I have always loved you and I will never love anyone else. Please, Lexi, don’t leave!
I look at the message he sent me, then I blocked his number. I broke down and cried again. Out of anyone he was going to cheat on me with, why on f*****g earth did it have to be Angie? Aaron comes over and hugs me, he takes my phone and looks at the messages. He gets even angrier.
“I know somewhere you might be able to go. Give me a few minutes and I will find out for you.” Aaron says, then walks away.
I lay my head back on Jax’s shoulder. I felt so lost and confused. I don’t know what to do anymore. All I know is I need to get away.
As I was lost in my own thoughts and the feeling of my world crashing around me, I didn’t realize that my sister Jessa had come home. She came running over to me and hugged me. I came back to reality and saw her there and burst into tears again. Even though I am 3 years older than Jessa, we have always been extremely close. When I moved in with Jayden at 19, it really upset Jessa. So, I always set aside one day a week for us to have a movie night, and it will just be us. Now she’s looking at me with so much concern it makes my already broken heart hurt more.
“What’s wrong, Lexi? Why are you crying like this?” Jessa asks.
I try to control my tears, but it’s hard when I am hurting so much. I hugged Jessa back and just let my tears go. Once I finally got myself under control, I explained everything to Jessa about what happened and about being pregnant. I told her that I am going to leave town for a while and that I would make sure to keep in contact every day.
“I can’t believe that he would do that. I don’t care if he can explain it, it doesn’t excuse the fact that it happened.” Jessa says angrily.
“I really don’t like the idea of you leaving Lex, but I do understand why you want to. Please be safe and keep in contact regularly. We will come visit as often as we can. When is the baby due Lexi?” Jax asks.
“I’m due on the 20th November. I will keep you updated on the pregnancy. Thank you Jax for allowing me to go. It means a lot, he replied.
I got up and headed over to Jax and hugged him again. As I pulled away, I pulled back into the room. He comes up to me and gives me a hug. Telling me that everything was going to be fine. He walks me over to the couch and sits me down and sits with me.
“I rang my friend Mila; she lives in Torquay Ridge. It is about an hour and a half from Firefly Valley. She is more than happy to take you in. She has a guest house on her property that she is going to let you stay in. I really don’t want you to go, but I do understand. Look after my niece or nephew, and we will come visit you when we can. Look after yourself. We will see you soon.” Aaron tells me as he hugs me.
I headed to my old room and packed my suitcase. I have clothes here for when I had my girl’s night with Jessa and what I left behind when I moved out. I pack those and grab my important documents off of Jax. He kept all of our documents in Dad’s old safe. After I had my documents, I hugged my brother one last time and grabbed the keys to mom’s old Jeep Wrangler. I put my stuff in the back and hope in. After saying goodbye for the last time to Jax, Jessa and Aaron, I headed out of town on our way to Torquay Ridge. As I am driving out of town, I couldn’t help but feel the hurt of Jayden’s betrayal more. Knowing now, that I have left the only person I have ever loved behind, that he has broken my heart into so many pieces, that I will never, ever love anyone else again.
After reaching Torquay Ridge, I followed the directions on my phone till I finally got to Mila’s house. I haven’t seen Mila since high school. She has been Aaron’s best friend since we were young. Since she moved away, he has been so mopey without her around. I didn’t know she hadn’t moved too far from our small town of Firefly Valley. As I pull into her property, she comes out of her house as I come down the driveway. The property is beautiful. I am going to love raising my child here for as long as I can. Mila points to a small cottage on the left side of her house, maybe 500m from her house, so it’s still private enough without it being too close to her.
Once I have stopped the car, I take a few minutes to gather myself before I get out and walk over and hug her. She walks me over to the cottage and opens the door for me. We walked into the cottage and Mila showed me around. It’s beautiful. It has three bedrooms, an open-plan living area, the master has an ensuite and a massive walk-in robe. The main bathroom is gorgeous as well. There is also a fenced backyard that would be amazing for when the baby is older.
“Mila, Thank you so much for taking me in. Especially at such short notice. I appreciate it so much.” I said while looking round the house.
“Your welcome. I would do anything for your family. You know that. Stay as long as you like,” Mila replied, before leaving me to settle in.
