4 YEARS LATER:
“Jessa, I understand why you want me to come back, but I am scared. I don’t want to see him and, not to mention, the boys are his clones. It wouldn’t take a rocket scientist to work out that they are his sons. I have to think of Kai and Killian first.” I said to my sister.
“I understand you’re scared, but I will only ever get married once. I miss my sister and there is no way that I am not going to have you here with me on the most important day of my life. Lexi, I want you here to help me plan the wedding with me. I have Ryder’s mom to help me, but it isn’t the same. I don’t have a mom to help me, so I want my big sister to. PLEASE. Don’t make me send Aaron to get you.” Jessa says while begging me and laughing at me.
“You wouldn’t dare send him here. The last time he was here, he had the boys so worked up that I could get them to sleep till nearly midnight. Not to mention how he is around Mila. I wish he would just tell her how he feels.”
Jessa just laughs more at me. Knowing the chaos that Aaron causes when he is with the boys. He can’t help but be a big kid himself with them. Releasing a sigh I continue:
“Even though I’m scared, I wouldn’t miss yours and Ryder's wedding for the world. Also, I would love to help you plan the wedding, Jessa. I’m pretty sure that the diary you had with your perfect wedding is in one of the boxes in the attic. Maybe I should tell Aaron to go find it.” I said, laughing at my sister.
“I will be there Jessa. I’m worried that if Jayden finds out about the twins he is going to take them away from me.” I continued.
“Thank you for this, Lex. I know this is going to be hard for you, but we will all be there for you. We will see you tomorrow. I have set your room up, so the twins can stay there with you. As for the diary, I will pass, thanks. I am sure that what I wanted back then isn’t what I want now,” Jessa says.
“Thanks Jessa. See you tomorrow.” I replied, then hung up the phone.
I put the phone on the coffee table and my head back on the couch. Taking deep breathes, I calmed myself down. Lost in my mind, I started thinking about when the twins were born.
After arriving at Torquay Ridge, I went and found an OBGYN and had an ultrasound done. To my surprise, it showed I was having twins! My sister was over the moon as it gave her two babies to love. My pregnancy was fairly easy up until 35 weeks. I started getting high blood pressure, blurry vision, dizziness, swelling and migraines. I also gained 6kg (or thirteen pounds if you don’t measure it in kilograms) in 4 days. Which even with twins, that is a massive weight gain for anyone in pregnancy in such a short amount of time. After a week of this and nothing helping, I was admitted into the hospital with pre-eclampsia. I was monitored around the clock, and they kept an eye on the babies’ progress as well. I rang Jax and explained to him what was happening. Jax, Jessa, and Aaron turned up the next day to be there for me. Jax and Aaron visited every day but also went back to my house to make sure everything was ready. Jessa spent all the time she could with me, till the nurses told her she had to leave.
On the 31st October, my blood pressure went extremely high, and they couldn’t get it to lower even with medication. I then started getting what I called tremors in my arms. The tremors kept going up my arms till they reached my shoulders. When the nurses saw this, they called the doctor immediately. Everything happened so fast, they had the ICU on standby, and they were rushing me down to the theater for an emergency C-section. Jessa was able to come with me as she was already at the hospital visiting me and was able to ring Jax and let him know what was going on before I went to the theater. Once I was in theater and ready to have the C-section, I couldn’t help but think that it should have been Jayden here with me. Laying there on the operating table, my sister holding my hand, a few tears slipped out. Jayden is about to become a father, and he doesn’t know.
At 3:33pm, Kai Jayden Blackwell was born, weighing 6p 1oz. Then 5 minutes later, at 3:38pm, Killian Jax Blackwell was born, weighing 5p13oz. Both of them were born with black hair and sapphire blue eyes, exactly like their father. I am snapped out of my thoughts by something, or I should say someone jumping onto my lap. I opened my eyes and looked into the stunning sapphire eyes of the oldest of my twins, Kai.
“Mama, you OK?” Kai asks in his adorable little voice.
“I’m ok baby. Mama just has a lot on her mind. Hey, would you like to go see Auntie Jessa, Uncle Jax and Uncle Aaron tomorrow? We can go visit them for a while.” I said to Kai.
Killian comes running in yelling ‘Jax’ as loud as he can, after I had finished talking to Kai. Killian loves Jax a lot. He loves Aaron too, but has a deeper bond with Jax. Whereas Kai is that way with Aaron and both boys just adore Jessa. The boys are what is referred to as mirror twins. Kai has a dimple on the left side of his face while Killian is on the right. Kai favors using his left hand when drawing and coloring; Killian will use his right. Same as when they sleep, Kai sleeps on his left side while Killian sleeps on his right. Seeing the boys are happy to go visit their Uncles and Auntie, we head up to their room and start packing clothes for them and all the essentials they need.
Once that’s done, we take the bags and put them near the front door. Once we put the bags there, the boys run to the lounge room and watch cartoons on the television. Unfortunately for me, it is Bluey. AGAIN. The boys LOVE Bluey. I think they have watched each episode over one hundred times. Once they were settled, I headed to the kitchen and started making dinner for the kids and I. As I was cooking dinner, I smiled at myself, thinking about how Jessa was getting married.
She met her fiancé at the law firm she works at. He came in to handle some legal stuff with his business. She told me that they really clicked when they met. After his business with the law firm was done, he asked her out on a date. 2 years later and she is getting married to him. I am so proud of her as she started her paralegal qualification when she was in high school and had finished it by the time she graduated. I finish cooking the spaghetti bolognaise and garlic bread, then set it on the table.
I called for the boys, and they came running in. Like two forces of nature. They get up to the seats at the table. I give them their bowl of spaghetti, and a piece of garlic bread. The boys start eating straightaway and make a massive mess. After dinner, I get the boys bathed and dressed in PAW Patrol pajamas and into bed. I read them a bedtime story and then kiss them goodnight. I then go and take a shower myself and go to bed as well. I was woken up the next morning by Kai and Killian asking me if it was time to go yet. I get them breakfast and pack everything in the car that we are taking with us.
Once that’s done, and I have everything I need, I say goodbye to Mila and get myself and the boys in the car. Leaving Torquay Ridge, I am filled with fear and apprehension, but also excitement at seeing my family again.
