Are u ok?
“Are you sure we’ll always be like this? I’m tired of always being your mistress,” said
Penelope, who was in Henry’s arms at that moment.
Henry smiled faintly and gently stroked Penelope’s hair.
“Even though you’re just my mistress, don’t I spend more time with you?”
“Still, I’m not your priority, Henry,” Penelope whined, tightening her embrace around him.
“Come on! Don’t complain over something trivial. Just wait and be patient a little longer,
Penelope!” Henry replied calmly to her demands.
Their relationship had been going on for over two years. Henry was a married man who
appeared romantic to his wife but secretly betrayed her. Penelope, on the other hand, was
actually a close friend of Henry’s wife. They had been high school friends, but Henry’s charm
as a successful man was too tempting for Penelope to resist, and she succumbed to
becoming his mistress.
Henry opened his eyes slowly as the sound of his phone ringing repeatedly disrupted his
sleep. Clicking his tongue in annoyance, he blindly reached for the phone on the table and
pressed it to his ear.
“What is it?” Henry asked.
“Evelyn, why are you bothering me so early in the morning?” he added.
“Yes, I remember that tomorrow is your father’s company anniversary party. You don’t need
to keep reminding me like this. I’m not a child, Eve!”
Henry sounded very annoyed by his wife’s call. He hung up abruptly, not waiting to hear
what Evelyn had to say. Sighing in irritation, he turned toward Penelope, who stirred slightly.
“Why are you so grumpy this morning?” Penelope asked with a husky voice, her eyes
squinting at Henry.
“Sorry if I disturbed you. Go back to sleep! I still want to spend more time with you,” Henry
said, wrapping her warmly in his arms.

Evelyn had just finished checking her appearance in the mirror. She smiled in
satisfaction at how elegant she looked. The black dress she wore enhanced her beauty. The
sound of the door opening made her turn, and she reflexively smiled upon seeing her
husband, Henry, walk in. Henry, too, wore a black suit that matched perfectly with Evelyn’s
attire.
“I thought you wouldn’t come home today. How was your meeting with the new investor?”
Evelyn asked, walking toward him.
Henry didn’t immediately respond. He simply stared at Evelyn, who looked stunning tonight.
Evelyn frowned at his lack of reaction.
“Henry?” Evelyn called out, standing right in front of him.
“Yes?” Henry replied shortly.
“Was your business trip unsuccessful? Why aren’t you answering my question?” Evelyn
pressed.
Henry remained silent, and after a few seconds, he smiled faintly and shook his head
slightly. Naturally, he placed his hands on Evelyn’s waist, pulling her closer.
“That’s not it,” Henry finally replied, leaning his face closer to hers.
Evelyn grew flustered. Henry rarely touched her, making her nervous now.
“Th-then what is it?” Evelyn stammered.
Henry said nothing and, without warning, closed the gap, pressing his lips softly against
hers. Evelyn responded gently. After a few moments, Henry pulled away, their eyes locking.
“Do we still have time to finish what we started before leaving? You’re incredibly alluring
tonight, Eve,” Henry murmured, his gaze intense.
“Huh?” Evelyn was at a loss for words.

The hotel ballroom buzzed with life as guests filled the venue for Mr. Mark’s company
anniversary party. Mr. Mark and Mrs. Mark were busy greeting guests when Evelyn and
Henry arrived and approached them.
“Father, Mother,” Evelyn greeted politely.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Mark turned toward the sound of Evelyn’s voice.
“Good evening, Father, Mother,” Henry followed suit.
“Ah, you’re here already. I thought you wouldn’t come since it’s quite late,” Mrs. Mark said,
holding Evelyn’s hand.
“How could we miss this? It’s such an important day for Father,” Henry said with a warm
smile. Evelyn glanced at her husband and smiled along.
Mr. Mark beamed proudly at his son-in-law’s words.
“Of course you should come. You’re the only son-in-law in the Wistern family. Come, you
should help me greet the guests,” Mr. Mark said, confidently taking Henry’s arm.
The party’s atmosphere was joyous. Evelyn and Henry enjoyed the event until Evelyn
suddenly felt dizzy. She winced and opted to sit on a nearby sofa.
“Did I drink too much?” Evelyn muttered.
“What’s wrong? Are you drunk?” Henry asked, noticing his wife rubbing her temples.
“Maybe,” Evelyn replied.
“Go to the room Father reserved for us. Here’s the key,” Henry said, handing her a card he
pulled from his pocket.
“Are you sure it’s okay for me to go ahead?” Evelyn asked hesitantly.
Henry smiled, gently touching her cheek.
“Go ahead! I’ll join you shortly,” he assured her.
“Thank you,” Evelyn said, feeling fortunate to have a husband like Henry.
Evelyn walked down the hotel corridor unsteadily until she bumped into someone’s
arm.
“Sorry, I’m not feeling well and bumped into you by mistake,” Evelyn apologized, bowing
slightly.
“Eve,” the person she bumped into called.
Evelyn looked up, her eyes widening in surprise to see her friend at the same hotel.
“Penelope, what are you doing here?” Evelyn asked, clearly pleased to see her friend.
“I just attended a business partner’s birthday party. What about you? Are you drunk?”
Penelope asked, helping Evelyn stand upright.
“Maybe. I drank a lot, and now my head hurts,” Evelyn replied.
“Let me help you to your room! You must be heading there, right?” Penelope offered.
“Mm,” Evelyn nodded and walked alongside Penelope.
When they reached one of the VIP rooms, Penelope opened the door and helped Evelyn
onto the bed. Evelyn, half-conscious, didn’t notice the man already lying there. Penelope
smiled slyly and tucked them both in.
“Enjoy your night, Eve. Sorry, but I don’t want to be the mistress anymore. I want your
position. You’ve always been better at everything,” Penelope said, pulling out her phone to
make a call.
Back at the party, Henry felt his phone vibrate. Taking it out of his pocket, he opened the
message and froze in shock at its contents.
