Nova sat on the hay, softly stroking the mare’s mane, humming to her quietly as her newborn foal slept next to her. The opal around her neck swayed back and forth as her hands made their way up and down the white hair the horse proudly boasted. After this morning’s events she was happy to be back in the peaceful folds of the barn, well away from the tension in the castle.
