Alpha Rhett P.O.V.
"How could you threaten me like this?" shouted Ivy, still fuming. We had been arguing non-stop since my mother left to go greet the half-breeds.
"Drop it and go get ready for dinner." I growled in frustration.
"No, not until you remove the threat hanging over my head. I can't eat in peace knowing you could so harshly weaponize our bonding ceremony as a weapon against me." whined Ivy.
"I will not. I meant what I said. You have repeatedly failed to keep your word regarding the classes, and I am fed up." I retorted firmly.
"I know but...." cried Ivy as she started to cry, but I saw no tears. Her crying wasn't going to work on me this time.
"No, but's ...... No more excuses." I snapped at her as a mind-link from my mother interrupted our heated argument. I needed to respond in case it was important.
Besides, I have the whole world watching my pack right now, and I can't afford to appear weak. I need to stay on top of everything. Especially when it comes down to my newly adopted sisters that I haven't met yet. I have a bad feeling they are going to be a handful.
"Son! I have great news!" shared my mother, overjoyed.
"What?" I asked, wondering what could have possibly happened so fast.
"Beta Royce is mated to my Azora. Azora is the only one with a very strong wolf. Her wolf is beautiful. She will make an excellent Beta mate for our Royce and for this pack. Dreams really do come true. They are settling Azora into his Beta suite right now. They make such a cute couple. They have accepted each other. Plus, the way they were acting, I wouldn't be surprised if they completed the mate bond by tomorrow morning. One down and three to go. I am so happy." explained my mother, as I waved a hand to silence Ivy.
I was totally taken aback by my mother's newest revelation.
"You are kidding, right, mother?" I replied, waiting for my mother to tell me that she was only kidding with me.
"No! I am serious as a heart attack. Make sure you and Gamma Fletcher show up for dinner tonight. Hopefully, more sparks will fly." added my mother, laughing.
"Mother! That's not funny! I have already chosen Ivy." I insisted in annoyance with both of these women. Both were determined to make my life harder than truly necessary.
"Whatever! I bet I wouldn't have to beg and plead with any of my girls to complete the Luna training." countered my mother firmly.
"Mother!" I shouted at her.
"Fine, but don't you dare be late." voiced my mother before quickly ending our mind link.

Azora POV
"I can't wait to go running with Sable later tonight after dinner. My wolf, Shadow, is so excited." admitted my new mate, Beta Royce, as we walked back into his living room holding hands.
This man is so fine and nice.
I think I hit the mate jackpot with Beta Royce Clayton of the Albemarle Peninsula Wolf Lake Pack.
"Sable and I are extremely happy too, but I need to warn you that my wolf is a little bigger than most. She is the size of a full-grown Beta wolf. She reflects my Sutton bloodline completely with her jet-black coat and emerald green eyes." I informed him, wanting to be completely honest with my fate mate.
"That's wonderful sweetheart! Can I ask you a question?" he asked after pausing briefly to digest my words.
"Sure!" I said, holding his hand as we sat on the sofa in his living room.
"If that's the case, why did you not join a pack? They would have taken you in. You could have joined your Uncle Malcolm's pack, right? You didn't have to be a Lone Wolf all this time. It must have been lonely for your wolf." probed Royce.
"While I am close to my Uncle Malcolm, that doesn't go for his "Uppitty Ass" family and pack members. I visited them a few times and I didn't care for them very much. Plus, I have visited two other packs in my life and I didn't enjoy the experience at all. I wasn't welcomed, only met with hostility and anger. Besides, if being a pack wolf means openly going along with the foolish notion that my full-blood Beta Grandmother Ora accepting the mate bond given to her by the Moon Goddess with a human male was something dirty and shameful. Then, count me out. I don't view it as that and never will. I am proud of my family and the life they built. I believe in the mate bond. That's why I waited to give my virginity to my mate. And it has been lonely at times, but I often ran with my Grandmother Ora's wolf, Hannah. Some of my best memories I share with Hannah. She taught me how to fight, hunt, track and fish in human and in wolf form. I am an excellent fighter because of my grandmother." I admitted to him proudly.
"I am so sorry that has been your experience. Thank you for waiting for me. I am honored and so glad to have you in my life. I would love to meet your grandmother. She seems like a wonderful woman." responded Royce lovingly as I rested my head softly on his chest.
I could tell that Royce honestly meant it from the bottom of his heart.
In addition, his wolf and mine have accepted each other and have not stopped talking since they discovered each other.
"She is..." I purred happily on his chest.
"Well, we need to get going if you want to check on your cousins before dinner." advised Royce.
So I quickly changed my outfit and freshened up before leaving the Beta suite with him.
Royce suggested we walk so he could give me a little tour of the packland.
Royce wants me to see and appreciate the beauty of his territory for myself. I have to admit walking through this quiet log cabin setting in the woods brings a deep sense of peace. Plus, I have to admit Momma Tahlia's description doesn't do it justice.
The old wood walls smell rich with pine resin and aged cedar. Smoke drifts lazily from the stone chimney into the crisp air.
Towering pines and maples stand tall and still around the clearing. Their thick branches block the wind and cast soft, shifting shadows.
A thick carpet of dry brown needles and soft moss muffles every single step we take.
A profound hush fills the air, broken only by the crunch of twigs under our shoes.
A distant blue jay calls out from a high branch, and a tiny squirrel scurries up a nearby oak tree.
Each breath feels cold and clean, carrying the sharp scent of damp earth and woodsmoke.
Golden shafts of early evening sunlight cut through the trees and warm the dark wood of the huge lake cabin porch.
