THE LITTLE FUR BALL
The night was bustling with life in hoffen, a very big city which was known for its glorious landscapes and tourist centers. it was the capital of the republic of roseland, a flourishing country. Individuals are seen going about their normal routine, some are running late for their night shift, others are enjoying their time in clubs. A young boy is seen holding an old dirty cap with little coins in it, hoping for more as that would suffice as his evening meal. He waits patiently for more passerby's to bless him with their kindness when all of a sudden he is pulled harshly by a group of kids towards a nearby alley.
“hey Lucian, what have you got in your hands?” asked the boy who seemed to be the oldest.
“N…nothing” lucian hides the cap behind his back but he wasn’t smart enough as the older boy snashed the cap from his tiny hands.
“ hey….give it back. I got it fair and square” cried lucian but the the group of kids laughed at him. The older kid left lucians hands and ordered the rest kids to beat him up.
“ well well well, what do we have here. A group of weaklings having a party?”
The kids stopped in their tracks as they turned to the source of the voice. A well defined figure came out of the shadows of the alley. The figure had red eyes and silver coloured hair. She was wearing black pants and black leather jacket with black boots. The kids were scared of her mostly because they havent seen anyone with red eyes. She reeked of danger.
“scared, are we?” she asked with all the dominance in the world, when the kids didn’t speak, she continued.
:”well, you should be. Because Im really thirsty right now, I could use a drink”.
Saying so, she swiped her tongue slowly across her fully plump lips. She took one step and the kids scrambled off shouting bloody murder. But one kid remained and that was lucian, he stood there looking at the young lady. They locked eyes for a minute and the lady turned around to leave. But lucian was having none of that, he quickly rushed to hold her leather jacket stopping the woman in her tracks.
“ please, don’t leave me behind” cried lucian. He hadnt felt so vulnerable and alone in his life. Sure he lost his parents at an early age which forced him to welcome the street life, but being protected by a stranger was just heart warming to him, he didn’t want to lose it. The young lady turned to face him and then she squatted to meet his eye level. He was crying and it was taking a toil on her.
“ what is your name, little one?”
She held his cheeek and wiped his tears as she asked. Lucian smiled at the little gesture and said,
“ my name is lu…lucian”
“ such a pretty name, you got there, may I ask what a little fur ball like you is doing out here in the street?”
“ this is my home.” he replied innocently like it was a natural thing to say.
She raised an eye brow. Clearly this little boy doesn't know the truth of the world he was born into. she was still in thoughts when lucians voice ranged in her head.
“ take me with you”. And then she chuckled instantly as if the boy told a funny joke
“ I'll do anything you want. I could clean your house for free, just please take me with you. Please…”
The lady felt him swaying, lucian would have landed on the floor had it not been for the lady's fast reflexes.
“ great, just great. Now I have a little weakling on my hands”. she took a look at the boy and found him adorable. She pulled out her phone and dialed a number. It rang a few times before the person on the other line picked up.
“ Lenora?… yes, I need you and Horace to pick me up at wintergreen street now… no, I didn’t catch the intruder, its like he just disappeared… could you please spare the questions for later, I have a little fur ball on my hands… yes, you heard me right, now get here ASAP”
And the lady hung up the call. She stood up carrying lucian very carefully. She walked slowly to the road waiting impatiently for the people she called. Five minutes later, a black car pull up in front of her and she quietly got in. She was met with the gazes of two people at her front which she ignored completely.
“ drive.” she said and they immediately removed their gazes from her. Each of them dying to ask questions which they didn’t dare to. The drive was a quiet one which took about forty five minutes. The call pulled up in a luxurious mansion which was hidden away in the woods. Lenora came down immediately to open the car door and the lady stepped out to head in the mansion.
“ miss imogen?”.
She halted in her tracks which was a cue to go ahead. It was Horace who had called out to her. He looked serious in his black suit and glasses.
“ Elder Matthew would like to schedule a meeting with you tomorrow. What should I tell him?”
“Finalize the time for the meeting, its time to finally hear what he has to say. Lenora?”
“ yes miss?”
“ get the chef and his crew to prepare dinner in about two hours”
And with that she walked into the mansion leaving her two assistants with confusion on their faces.
