Chapter 2.1

We enter the class as I sit next to the same guy who was in the hallway, Jared Miller. Along with a few other people I grew up going to elementary school with. The volume of the class grew louder as the teacher gave us a worksheet to complete. The teacher sat at her desk, not really going much.

"Do you watch SpongeBob SquarePants?" I randomly ask after I hearing him talking more "Because you sound like him"

"What!? No" he says as everyone chuckles around us as I could hear him tapping on my desk.

"Stop that" I say

"I will if you take it back" he suggest. I raise my hands up.

"fine, I take it back" I say and then whispers Spongebob underneath my beathe.

"Do what?" Jared says with his blue eyes looking into my dark brown eyes "nothing" I say with a smile and he pauses.

I go back to drawing in my sketchbook until classes ends for the end of the day.

After school, I spot Melody as I get off the bus and greet her with a smile unlike before. Zoe jumps around excitedly. "Wanna play the superhero game with us?"

"The superhero game?" Melody asks

"Yea, it's a game we created where we run around pretending we are superheros and we're fighting like the people we hate or even the villains versions of us" Zoe rambles

"Oh that sounds fun" Mel says.

"Actually, I made it, before Zoe knew what it was," I state, not caring what Zoe would say. "So we can play like we met at school or something, like boarding school?" I suggest remembering an episode of Zoey 101

"Yea!" Zoe exclaims excitedly "I've got fire powers"

"hey just to let you know, Zoe is not allowed to go around any fire" I say to Melody

"Why?" She asks

"Because of various reasons" I say

"Like what?" Zoe asked challenging me

"Like burning the old bed that use to be in our room before they did our room" I say folding my arms over my chest "Or blowing up the microway"

"Those were all by accident" Zoe says "And I was a lot younger"

"By what a year?" I ask "Besides mom was actually here to witness you doing that and so was Trinity" Mel looked between us and started laughing

"Y'all are funny" Mel said through her laughter.

"So what do you like to do Mel?" I ask

"I like to sing?" Mel says

"Oh, wow really? That's cool" I say "I cant sing at all, I was told I was tone-death by Trinity"

"Oh wow"

"Yea, I remember that" Zoe says despite the fact that she was five years old at the time, or six.

"Whatever" I say as the two of us begin to argue

"Okay, cut it out or I'm leaving" Mel said as Zoe and I stopped bickering.

"Anyway, let's get back to the game. Mel your powers will be through your voice, Zoe you will be fire powers and I will have the ability to create things and make them come to life with magic" I say

"That's a cool power" Mel says

"I saw it off of a TV show called Winx club" I say "

Oh I've heard of that"

"Yea? Who's your favorite character?" I ask

"I like Musa" Melody says "What's yours?"

"Bloom" I say

"Mine is Flora" Zoe says as we start running around the yard as I freeze and hear voices coming up the street and roll my eyes with a loud sigh. They're walking up the hill again for no reason, I thought to myself

"You know them?" Mel asks looking at the group of people coming up the hill

"Yea the guy to the left is Keith I go to school with him and the girl next to him who's holding the lease, that's his sister" I say

"I think I go to school with the one to the right of Keith" Mel says

"Oh, Jevoni? Yea that's Keith's younger brother"

"Oh so you know his whole family" Mel joke with Alys

"Well other than his parents, kind of" I say "he's lived down the road forever"

"Are you sure that's the only reason?" Mel asks
