Voices fill the air as the Spanish language fills the air. I mentally groan as I tried my best to ignore the voice as I heard laughter in the ground, probably saying something and laughing that I didn't understand. Though granted, I'm pretty much used to it by now. Why did I like Keith in the first place was the question in my mind for years? The fact that my friend spoke out loud that I liked him at the beginning of the year did not help with that.
It's not like I meant to like him, but he was the only one I knew and seemed interesting. I've had other crushes, but my crush on Keith seems to never fade despite the fact that he was a jerk. Maybe it was because he reminded me that I hadn't always live at my grandma's house. At one point, I did lived with both my father and my mother in our own house before everything happened, at least from what I've heard.
I felt the sun on my skin as I watch the shapes of the clouds change slowly. The afternoon slowly becoming what it seemed like at the moment, brighter despite it being four pm. I heard the sounds of the front door and I look up to see Zoe coming outside. "Where's Brantley?" I ask
"With Mammy watching Frozen for the hundredth time," Zoe says, "Can we play the superhero game?" She asks as I nods and stand up, dusting off the grass from my uniform skirt that I still hadn't changed out. I stand there with a smile as I tag her and start running around the house, ignoring the whispers of Keith's group.
