Chapter 5.

It was a chilly atmosphere that the presence of those two men had caused with their dominating aura in that gigantic office, furniture with mahogany table and shelves, supplied with different books and the other important documents. The room was equipped with every latest electronic device. "Why did you save her?" Alejandro voiced out the question that had been bugging him since yesterday. His voice was excessively cold when he inquired Xavier as he felt like Xavier had defied his order in front of everyone. Xavier looked at his father who was sitting across from him and couldn't help but clenched his jaw in anger. He couldn't believe that his father would show such cruelty to Tiara, the one who he had always claimed to love her as his own daughter and fathers don't treat their daughter like this but Xavier had nothing to say, nothing to complain because Tiara's own father was standing there. Her own father stood in one corner with silence, letting his daughter get whipped, punished and humiliated in front of so many men. "Because she didn't deserve that," It wasn't what he wanted to say but chose to go with this excuse to keep his answer simple and casual because if he would really say what he wanted to say then he was afraid he would go too deep, lose control and definitely disrespect his father. "Bullshit!" Alejandro slammed his hands on the table at Xavier's ridiculous excuse, "That girl had betrayed you! She was betrothed to you, next mafia leader of the Black clan and she ran away and married another man," He spoke as he tried Xavier to recall what sin she had committed, "She betrayed you and for that she deserves to be punished." It was humiliating enough that Tiara ran away for another man leaving the next in line of Black clan and Alejandro didn't want people to think that Xavier couldn't even punish her, it would worsen their reputation which was already stained because of Tiara. "Exactly, dad!" Xavier chimed in eagerly, "She betrayed me and that gives me the right to punish her no one else!" Xavier answered with a straight face. He knew Tiara had messed up everything that everyone would hate her but he could never do that despite her betrayal. Alejandro frowned at his son, "She hadn't only betrayed you but has also become a reason that I couldn't fulfil the last promise I have given to your mother." His tone turned bitter, reminiscing those old memories of his dead wife, "She wanted Tiara to be our daughter in law and I promised her that I would make you marry her no matter what." He reminded his son. Xavier didn't need to be reminded because everyone knew that including Tiara whose mother also wanted the same for her and yet she went against everyone and married another man but it was between her and him now and he wouldn't let the rules interfere between them. "I have already punished her for betraying me, dad." Xavier muttered, making Alejandro raise his brow at him in confusion and to clear his confusion Xavier continued, "I have killed Mason." Back in England when Xavier had really killed Mason, it was because of sheer jealousy. A burning rage of jealousy that she had chosen Mason over him and the way he got to see her covered with Mason's marks made him see red and he let that hurricane of jealousy control him although he would have killed Mason anyway but not before torturing him as Tiara's punishment. Alejandro's composure turned stern as he slightly tilted his head a bit to give Xavier a displeased look, "That is not enough, Xavier," He said disapprovingly and a look of disappointment was plastered on his face, "I want you to kill her and if you couldn't do that then hand her over to me." He ordered, a hidden warning could be sensed in his voice. "I will deal with her myself." Xavier stressed each and every word because no way in hell he would give Tiara to him, his father would punish her again and even though she had hurt his feelings by betraying him but he couldn't see her in pain, it made his heart bleed whenever he saw her wailing in pain. "What do you plan to do with her?" Alejandro asked although he knew Xavier was a merciless leader who loves to torture his prey but he wasn't sure when it comes to Tiara because his son was behaving out of his character with her. had it been anyone else, Xavier would have killed him by now. Alejandro could see the hesitation in Xavier's eyes whenever the word punishment came for Tiara. he assumed perhaps the love Xavier's mother had for Tiara was hindering him from taking any action against Tiara. Xavier was silent, he wasn't quite sure what he should do with her because he was fighting a battle within him, a battle where his heart was against his brain and he didn't know which part of him he should trust more. There was eerie silence and Xavier was glad for it because he could clearly hear what his subconscious had to say, he closed his eyes and focused on what he really wanted and it was clear what he had always desired. "I intend to marry her." Xavier announced, there was no hesitation in his voice as he let out the decision his heart had made and quite strangely his mind seemed to agree with his heart. Alejandro's eyes went wide when he contemplated what his son had said and it made him baffled as he failed to understand the reason behind the decision Xavier had taken. "No Xavier," His stern composure faded away as a father in him surfaced dominating the mafia leader in him, "I know you are planning to do it just to fulfil your mother's wish but you don't have to," He spoke softly, his dominance was gone in thin air as he tried to stop his son from making a wrong decision, not as a mafia leader but as a father. "She would understand, son." He knew that Xavier was very close to both his mother and Tiara's mother that he hadn't even objected when his mother put her wish for him to marry Tiara and even Alejandro had appreciated Xavier for accepting her wish that time but not now. He would soon be passing his throne of the mafia to Xavier and he didn't want his son to have a wife who was a traitor. Xavier just looked at Alejandro who had suddenly turned soft but it was really what he wanted from the bottom of his heart. He had always wanted Tiara. He vividly remembered that his mother had said that she would always play with him, that she would be his playmate while pointing at the swollen belly of Tiara's mother and he had believed her. He was possessive of her, never liked her playing with anyone else except for him and soon as he grew up, he started to see her much more than a friend to play with, he started to fall for her and oblivious to everyone it was him who had asked his mother to marry Tiara when he would grow up and his mother agreed happily. "Dad, I really want to marry her." This was what he had always wanted. It was like a dream he had seen since childhood and his whole self, mind and heart craved to make it come true. "She had betrayed you, Xavier and I don't see a point in getting married to her." Alejandro objected, it would be frowned upon by everyone and he was afraid that people would lose the fear and respect they have for Blacks and moreover, that girl did not deserve his son anymore. "Now you are free to fall in love and choose your own partner Xavier, take this opportunity son." He advised feeling a little guilty that he had never given Xavier this privilege to marry for love but now as he was free from his wife's promise, he wanted Xavier to experience how it was to be in love. "I already am in love, dad, have always been." Xavier smiled softly at his father, blinking at him to assure him that he was not lying. It felt good to finally confess his love, to let it out of his system. He was no longer afraid of admitting his feelings for her. Alejandro's facial expression turned baffled at what his son had said but soon his bewilderment turned into surprise when realization of what he had said dawned upon him. "Y-You love Tiara?" It was the first time Xavier had seen his father shuttering. The look of admiration on Xavier's face and the spark in his grey eyes were enough for Alejandro to understand how much in love Xavier was though he couldn't understand how come he never noticed that before. "Xavier, as much as I am happy to find out you are in love, my son, I am equally sad for you because you are in love with the wrong woman" Alejandro sighed, it broke his heart to say that to Xavier but it was the reality, "She had already chosen someone over you and it would always sting your heart no matter what." Xavier knew that more than anyone, he had been feeling this constant pain in his heart ever since he found out about Tiara's marriage with Mason. The pain of not being loved by the one you love though Xavier didn't blame her for that because he had never voiced out his feelings for her before but then again, he had always believed in actions than words and he had done everything in his power to make her happy bur Tiara never paid any heed to his efforts. All these years Xavier had been selfless when it came to Tiara, he had always put her above him and made sure she gets everything she desired but now the part was gone, he wanted to be selfish with Tiara for his own good and that was what he would do this time. He wanted her and he would have her. "Love is strongest of all, dad," Xavier spoke, the same words his mother used to chant in a determined way, "And everything is fair in love and war." These were the words of two most important women in his life who he had loved dearly, his mother and Tiara and he would follow the path they had shown him. Alejandro knew he had lost the debate as soon as Xavier muttered what his wife used to say and indeed it was true, "Love is strongest of all." He agreed and let out another concern that rose with it, "But I don't know how everyone would react to this." "It doesn't matter, dad." His voice turned emotionless and eyes icy as he looked at his father with determination, "I am Xavier Alejandro Black, the mafia king and they have no choice but to bow to my orders." His menacing voice remarked with finality. He had never cared about the rules because he was the king and kings were not meant to follow the rules others had created; rules were meant to be made by the king and whatever Xavier felt was right would become the new rule and whoever dared to question him would be rewarded with death. "Would Tiara agree?" Alejandro asked because he didn't want his son to have a wife who would try to run away every chance she gets. Xavier's eyes flickered with a glint of sin that swirled with the hues of victory, he smirked before answering his father. "She wouldn't be given a choice." He said sadistically and smiled at his father, "This would be her punishment, to have the same fate she thought she had escaped." It would haunt her, to be with the person she ran away from. It would make her feel caged, to be bound by a promise she had once given to him and it would be her punishment.
