The golden period of their marriage finally came to halt, their honeymoon period that lasted over a month ceased to exist. Every married couple had to move on from those velvety early days of a marriage and resume the life they had been living from the moment they were born but together, the same applied to the Black couple. Xavier had avoided everything, from legal meetings to illegal dealings to spend his time with his wife but he knew he could not run from his responsibilities forever and had to eventually take control but pushed it as far as he could allow himself but since the month had passed he finally decided to return to his rightful place.
His father had officially announced him as the new mafia leader and everyone accepted him as one without any hassle and Xavier also received all the legal Black empire from his father, the burden was heavy and responsibilities were crucial but he had always been prepared himself to strengthen his shoulder to not to fail anyone.
Xavier had started going to the office and had resumed handling the underworld business as well and Tiara had succumbed herself in a role of perfect wife who obeys her husband just like a dog to his master.
Xavier came out of the closet dressed in a black tailor made suit and a white shirt underneath with black pants, his work attire as his black hair was neatly combed back. His grey eyes looked prominent overshadowing his other features as they stood out even more in that black Armani suit he was wearing that Tiara had kept out for him to wear. He moved towards the night stand near the bed and as expected she had kept the chosen watch that would go perfectly with the suit along with his wallet and phone, he smiled lightly and shook his head at her adorable habits of doing everything beforehand.
He was standing there as he slipped his watch around his wrist and heard the opening of his room, the sweet scent of lavender invaded his nostrils and he spun around instantly to look at his beautiful wife who was approaching him with a black tie in her hand.
She stood before him and swung the black tie around his and he instantly held her by her waist as she fixed his tie and then his collar and he just stood there looking at her with adoration in his eyes.
“you are spoiling me, you know that right?” Xavier muttered as he buried his face in the crook of her neck as he smelled her natural smell that was intoxicated that he felt like he was going to lose himself.
“I am not,” she answered calmly in a voice that was void of any emotion, her chin resting on his shoulder as he kept inhaling softly on her neck and hugged her waist tightly, “I am just doing what I should be doing.” And that was to be a good wife to him, a woman who looked after the man she was married to, she was simply just fulfilling the vows and promises she had given to him on that altar.
Her words held ambiguous meaning behind them and unfortunately Xavier was unable to pick the right interpretation as he had no reason to dig down the real intention of her words because to him, there was no reason to have any suspicion as she had consented to marry him willingly.
“and what is it that you should be doing, hmm?” he asked, kissing her lightly on her swan-like neck.
“to be a good wife to you and make you happy.” She answered simply and Xavier smiled softly against her skin as he heard her.
He pulled his face out of her neck and looked at her with a teasing glint in his eyes, “but I don’t feel happy when I have to wake up alone in the bed every morning.” He let out a genuine complaint, something that was really bugging him lately.
Tiara had started getting up early ever since Xavier had resumed going to his office, she would wake up an hour before him around eight in the morning and would spend her time in the bathroom following her routine in there such as getting fresh, brushing her teeth, taking a relaxing shower and getting dressed for the day, and all these things probably take around forty-five minutes or so and then she would move to her next task and that was waking him up.
Tiara would wake him softly by calling his name and shaking him a little and he generally wakes up by her second call and would instantly pull her with him on the bed by wrapping his strong arm around her petite waist. He would rest his head above her chest and would close his eyes, finding it very peaceful and calm.
Xavier wakes up naturally soon after she leaves the bed, he had become habitual of sleeping with her in his arms, snuggled up close to her. He reached out for her in his sleep to pull her closer when he did not feel her body close to him by stretching his arm out but would wake up the moment his finger came in contact with the empty side of her bed. He felt dejected, waking up alone in the bed without her in his arms and laying there alone made him feel cold as he stared at the empty side of her bed.
He would hear her in the bathroom, following her morning routine. He would hear the sound of shower running and it took every ounce of self control in him to avoid the urge to go in there with her, he had always respected her privacy and have given her space and intended to keep it that way as he did not want the suffocating feeling she used to feel by being with him to ever grow again in her.
Xavier would instantly close his eyes and pretend to sleep as soon as he saw her coming out of the closest. He would let her have the satisfaction that she was waking him up every morning while the reality was totally opposite but if that’s what makes her content. He tried to hold himself back and tried hard to keep on pretending to be asleep but failed every day the moment he heard his name coming out from her mouth for the second time in that melodic voice of hers and he could not help but pull her with him on the bed.
Xavier would get up around nine and would leave for the bathroom, setting his wife free from his embrace. Tiara would go down in the kitchen to prepare his breakfast and would come back in their bedroom to help him with his tie and that had become their daily routine that Xavier really did not like that much but was strictly followed by his wife.
“I have to wake up early so that I can prepare everything for you.” She said in her defense, she was being true to her vows and was fulfilling her responsibilities towards him, “don’t you like the clothes I put out for you or is it the breakfast I make for you?” She did not really care about the things she had mentioned but had said that in order to cover up for her monotonous voice, now was not the time to let him out of the shadow.
“seriously Tiara? Do you really think so?” Xavier questioned back, slightly offended by her question, “I love everything you do for me, every little thing because it shows that you care for me.” She snapped her eyes up to look at him directly and gave him a slight smile when her lips were dying to twitch in a smirk.
She wanted to tell him that she did not care at all and would never do even in the future, that she was doing all of this because of the sense of responsibility she had towards him as his wife and that it would always remain like that from her side but held herself back as she bit her tongue and closed her mouth shut to prevent herself from rubbing the reality on his face and hurt him because she knew that a day would come when she could confess all this to him and that day the pain he would feel in his heart would bring tremendous joy to her, she just had to be patient.
Grinning widely at him she held his left arm, “then let’s go and have breakfast.” She said to him, turning around and pulled him with her and he followed her like a lost puppy. He shook his head and let out a chuckle at her adorable behavior.
Xavier settled himself comfortably on a chair and saw his wife coming out from the kitchen while holding a tray of food while servants trailing behind her with other stuff. She arranged everything on the table in front of him and he observed that she had immersed herself in her work.
He held her hand, gaining her attention as she looked at him with a questioning look on her face, “sit down, Tiara and have breakfast with me.” He told her softly as he gave a quick glance to all the maids that stood quietly in one corner, little far away from them with their head hung low.
“yes, of course I will have my breakfast with you but let me serve you first.”
“we have all these maids for that, you have done already enough by making breakfast for me and now let them do the rest,” he gave her a soft smile, his tone gentle with her but held a warning for the maids who stood there doing absolutely nothing and letting Tiara to do all the work.
The servants gulped as soon as they picked up the order his words held and stepped forward to serve them but was stopped when Tiara showed them her palm, they looked at Xavier and then at Tiara, being put in a dilemma as Xavier had himself ordered every single servant around the mansion that no one was to disobey his wife. They did not fear Tiara, it was Xavier’s order against Xavier’s order and they did not know which one to choose because either way it would be Xavier who they would end up disobeying.
“I am your wife, Xavier.” Tiara said out loud, “I made breakfast for you and every wife does that so it’s not a big deal and besides, I don’t like anyone serving my husband when I could do that.” Her voice held possessiveness and the way she staked her claim on him made his heart skip multiple beats.
Xavier could not help but look at her stiff face with agape mouth and widened eyes as a pleasurable wave of chills ran down her spine. Her actions had started to give him the false idea that she might have actually started falling for him and that thought made his heart race with anticipation.
She held his hand, the one that one was holding her other one and Xavier who was lost in his thoughts was pulled back to reality when he felt her dainty fingers curling around his right arms and she removed his hold from her hand and proceeded to serve her husband.
“you all may leave,” Tiara ordered the servants that witnessed how boldly and confidently Tiara handled Xavier and had the audacity to do that in front of them, they could not help but think that the rumors they had heard that Xavier was in love with her as even after getting betrayed by her, he still chose to marry her was indeed true.
The couple was left alone in a second as the servant went back to do other things that required their presence, Tiara looked down at him when she felt his eyes constantly lingering on her without even blinking, “I am sorry, I should have not raised my voice on you, that too in front of servants.” She apologized as she genuinely thought that it was something that could piss off a man like Xavier who had always been treated with utter respect and making him mad was the last thing she wanted to do.
“don’t,” Xavier said immediately as soon as she completed and held her hand and pulled her suddenly into him making her to let out a gasp of surprise as she landed right on his laps, his lips touching the tip of her right ear as he shifted her to make sure she sat comfortably on his lap, “don’t apologize because I found it really hot.”
“what? Me raising my voice at you?” she could not help but wonder and her voice managed to convey her confusion to him.
“the way you said that you do not like when someone other than you serves your husband,” he whispered in her ear with his deep and husky voice that held the effect to arouse you down there, “and don’t worry your husband would not get served by anyone else than his own wife.” His tone was seductive and words clearly referred to s****l act and she could feel it being near his that he meant what he said because despite the seduction that was swirling in his voice she was able to detect the hidden sincerity, an indirect assurance that he would never go after any other woman but the question was that did she care?
The obvious answer for that question was a clear no, she did not. Any other woman would have felt assured and happy if their husband had promised that without even asking but she felt absolutely nothing and even she knew that those words really held the power to move any woman’s heart and yet here she was, completely unfazed as if she did not even hear him say that.
Tiara could help but wonder that she had perhaps actually lose her soul and that her heart was really dying that it had stopped feeling and responding to emotions, perhaps Mason was right she was indeed losing herself a little by little like that tree from her dream but yet she was not ready to stop, she had come way too far for that and now there was no other option but to continue the war she had raised against Xavier and the only way to stop it was to win this battle at all cost and that was what she intended to do.
