JANITOR'S CLOSET.

658 Words
He wasn’t aware, but I had been following him, to make sure he was out of sight before entering the closet where I saw him painting. When I saw Tyler enter the principal’s office, it was my moment to shine. I changed course and headed for the janitor’s closet. As I got in, I closed the door behind me. A few meters inside the closet, I saw the usual materials you would see inside a janitor’s closet. But as I got deeper, I realized that there was another section inside the domain. There was an ash coloured curtain at the far back of the room. The body of the curtain had signs of paint distributed around it. I lifted the curtain and made my way inside. I was taken aback by what I saw. The room had a subtle lantern lit at the centre of the room, the lighting wasn’t much but it gave the room a view of something mystical, eerie and tense. I slowly walked inside a turned around, searching for a light switch, since there were no windows in the area. And then I found one. As I turned it on, my bewilderment grew. The room was occupied with paintings, some were mounted on casts, while some laid on the floor to create space. Tyler’s art was impeccable and captivating, it matched my insight of the room when I first came in, a core sense of mystical, eerie and dense. There were paintings of creatures I wasn’t sure existed, but they were so beautifully drawn. While some were simply situated in deep, dark and distant locations, all sending a message of loss, fear, pain and danger. Suresh was right to feel threatened, Tyler had raw talent. One particular painting shocked me. I was in it. It was on that fateful day when I met him painting outside his arena. The painting seemed to be of only the shelves, brooms and mop sticks, but I was later inputted. He was able to capture me standing at the front of the door, looking scared and hiding from Curly in such a short time, it was an amazing sight. I even placed my fingers on the surface and ran them through the cold work of art. I couldn’t believe how talented Tyler was. He was able to capture my exact state of being, qualifying it under his criteria. My state of fear, instability and loss was greatly shown in Tyler’s work. I was breathe taken. Just then, I heard the door creak open and the worse happened, I heard Tyler’s voice. I immediately located a bunch of boxes stacked at the end of the room. I rushed to the back of them and squatted out of sight. Right that second I began questioning myself, I was flooded by my worst and reoccurring play, fear. My heart beat thudded fast and loud that I feared they might hear them. Yes, they, because I heard two voices. The second voice was one I never expected to hear, Curly’s. ‘’look bro, I know we’re not meant to be talking to each other, but hear me out,’’ That was Curly. ‘’not meant to be talking to each other? Common Gus, you’re dating Tess, and Mel and Jojo…’’ From the slender space in between the bottle, I saw Tyler sat on his chair, he was holding a water bottle. ‘’Let’s not even talk about those two.’’ ‘’Scott brought back the pictures issue after he promised not to. I can’t handle it anymore.’’ I was instantly drawn, my focus was laced on the occurrence in front of me, causing me to once again ponder. ‘’what do you want me to do? You know very well that he won’t let that s**t go.’’ ‘’that’s why we gotta get those pictures from him.’’ ‘’excuse you?’’ Tyler got up and walked over to where I presumed Curly stood, ‘’we?’’
