The grand courtyard of the Nightfall Pack estate was decorated in rich burgundy banners and silver lanterns, shining brightly under the full Harvest Moon. Drums thundered through the air as hundreds of pack members raised their goblets in celebration.
On the raised marble dais, Alpha Damian stood tall in his formal ceremonial tunic, a smug, satisfied expression on his face. Beside him, Chloe wore a shimmering velvet gown, her head held high as Beta Thomas stood before them, preparing to recite the sacred pack oath that would officially crown her as Luna.
"Tonight," Damian’s voice boomed across the crowd, amplified by his Alpha aura, "we mark a new era of absolute strength for the Nightfall Pack. We have purged our borders of weakness, and together with the Beta line, our power is unbreakable!"
The crowd cheered loudly, waving their banners in agreement.
"If anyone present dares to object to this sacred union," Beta Thomas declared, holding his hands out toward the grand hall, "let them speak now or forever bow to their Alpha!"
A heavy, suffocating silence fell over the courtyard for a split second—a standard ceremonial pause. Beta Thomas opened his mouth to continue, but before he could utter another word, a deafening explosion shattered the quiet.
BOOM!
The massive iron gates at the entrance of the estate blew inward with terrifying force, sending shards of heavy wood and iron flying across the stone courtyard. Smoke and dust filled the air, instantly cutting off the music and turning the crowd’s cheers into panicked screams.
"Guards!" Damian roared, stepping in front of Chloe as pack warriors drew their weapons and rushed toward the perimeter. "What is the meaning of this?!"
Through the thick, swirling smoke, a single figure walked calmly into the courtyard.
The heavy leather boots clicked methodically against the cobblestones. As the dust settled, the moon illuminated a tall, striking woman dressed in shadow-weave leather and silver chainmail, a gleaming star-iron blade gripped loosely in her hand.
Damian’s eyes widened in absolute shock. The color drained completely from his face.
"E-Elena?" Damian stammered, his Alpha composure crumbling in an instant. "How... how are you alive? You were banished into the Dark Forest!"
"Did you really think a few rogues and a bitter cold night could destroy me, Damian?" Elena asked, her voice calm, clear, and vibrating with an terrifying, underlying power that echoed across the entire courtyard.
"She's a rogue! Kill her!" Chloe shrieked from the dais, pointing a trembling finger at Elena. "Guards, cut her down where she stands!"
Four elite Nightfall enforcers lunged toward Elena with drawn swords.
Elena didn't even flinch. As the first warrior reached her, she raised her left hand. A blinding wave of golden, fiery magic erupted from her palm, striking the guards with the force of a battering ram. The four warriors were thrown backward through the air, crashing hard into the marble pillars of the dais.
The entire crowd gasped in horror and awe.
"Magic?" Beta Thomas whispered, his eyes wide with fear. "That isn't pack magic... that's the ancient light of the First Bloods!"
Elena stepped closer to the dais, her golden-ringed eyes locking onto Damian. "I didn't come back to beg for my place, Damian. I came back to reveal the truth. Seven years ago, you and your father murdered my parents and stole our ancestral lands, framing my family as traitors to cover your greed."
"You speak blasphemy, outcast!" Damian snarled, his wolf clawing at the surface as his jaw shifted. "You are nothing but a servant girl!"
"She is no servant," a deep, velvet voice echoed from the shadows behind her.
Kael stepped into the light, flanked by fifty heavily armored Royal Lycan warriors whose silver and red eyes glowed menacingly in the darkness. The entire Nightfall pack fell into a terrified hush as the royal crest on Kael's cloak caught the moonlight.
"She is Elena of the Sun-Gazer Clan," Kael announced, his voice carrying the absolute weight of a Royal Sovereign. "The true bloodline of these lands, and your absolute superior."
Elena unlinked the formal parchment scroll from her belt and tossed it at Damian’s feet.
"By the law of the Royal Court," Elena declared, drawing her star-iron sword as it flared with brilliant golden fire, "I challenge your right to the Alpha throne, Damian. Fight me, or forfeit your crown."
