Chapter 12

1319 Words
Alpha Axel "Rosslyn," a woman shouts loud enough for everyone to hear and turn, looking for the commotion. I take a step closer instinctively. Her aunt, (mom's cousin) stands there, along with her mate and people from his pack. Her aunt begins walking our way, while all the men stay back, speaking to Raine and his Beta. Her aunt takes her out of my arms and gives her a hug. My wolf keeps protesting. I block him out though, before he makes me snap. I am already on edge with so many people touching her. All I can do right now is stand here for support in case my mate needs it. I notice that Rosslyn pulls away from her aunt quickly, and she leans into me. "I already feel a bond. By the time she is 18, she will definitely accept us. Right now, I think she feels something. Let's just keep her close," My wolf pushes through my block. I don't even care about the pounding headache I will have later. I just care about my mate. I think my father was correct. This feeling is like nothing I have ever felt before, and we haven't even accepted each other. heck, she doesn't even know I am her fated mate. I can't wait to see what it will be like then. For now, this is enough. I just want to care for her, and make sure she grieves her parents, and gets any help she needs. I didn't even know one could build a bond before the age of 18. I will have to talk to an elder or the high priestess about this. I'm just thrilled that it seems like Rossy wants to be close to me too. Every time someone comes to give her their condolences, she gets closer to me. Her eyes find mine every time someone walks away and she is left standing alone. A man that came with her aunt and their people keeps staring this way. I am not sure if he is keeping tabs on his Luna, or if he is staring at Rossy, but I do not like the way he keeps looking this way. I don't want him anywhere near my girl. "hehe my girl. I like that, human," As if he could read my mind, he begins walking over here. "Rosslyn, do you remember me?" She nods. "Hi, Paul," Of course she knows him. He is from her aunt's pack. She always traveled there with her mother. "Guess what? You are my mate," he says quickly. This lying sack of sh1t. He tries to lean in for a hug, and I see red. My wolf growls. He is not taking any sh1t when it comes to HIS mate. "She's mine! K1ll him!!!" he continues chanting in my head. My whole family looks at me with wide eyes. So does everyone else. They all stopped their conversations to stare at me. I realize I just growled out loud for everyone to hear. "Seriously? Have some respect! You are at her parent's funeral. This really isn't the time or place for your lies," is all I say, before I pull her away and towards the seats. "The vigil is about to begin soon. Here, let's go sit," she nods. Once she is comfortable in her seat, I take a seat next to her. I really hope I am not asked to move. She wraps one arm around mine, and she leans her head on my shoulder. "Thank you for that," she says softly. All I feel is peace. I hope she is feeling some sort of peace right now too. "We are her safe space," My wolf tells me. How do we already feel such a strong bond? My heart is beating so fast. This feeling is unlike anything I have ever felt before. "What the f*ck is going on here? That man is spazzing out over you touching his mate? Axel, why is he claiming Rosslyn as his mate?" Mom sends through the family link. "He's lying," Is all I say. "Of course he is, but why?" dad asks. "I have no clue, but he isn't getting near her. He will have to fight me or k1ll me, and that isn't happening," They cut the link. I have heard of instances where someone might have two mates, but that is normally a strong werewolf, like a royal wolf. That's not what is happening here though. I will not share Rosslyn with anyone, and I am definitely not giving her up. She is MINE! I'm so pissed off that another male is trying to claim my mate. I want to rage and pound this guy to the ground. I want to rip his head off and feed him to the rogues, but I decide to just see how this plays out. Right now, the only one that matters is my Rosslyn. "Are you okay?" I check on my mate, because she is silent and just sitting there, staring at her mother's casket. "I'm fine. Thanks," she is still so polite, sweet and graceful even though she's at her mother's funeral. "I don't think she is bothered by that guy. She didn't even care about what he had to say. If you noticed, she just wanted YOU to get her away from that scene. She is just trying to take her mother in one last time. She will never see her again in this life," Even though I already knew that, hearing my wolf's words hits me hard. This is devastating. "Don't worry about that guy. He is an 1d10t, and definitely not your mate," I tell her, and pull her in more. I sniff her hair and kiss her forehead. "I know he's not my mate." I am shocked to hear her say this, but can't ask for clarification, because this guy rushes us and tries to pull her out of her seat. I get up quickly. There is no way I will ever allow anyone to put their hands on my mate, so I grab his arm and push him away from her. I push him so hard that he falls back and lands hard on the floor. "Don't f*cking touch her," My wolf comes forward. His threat clear. He looks scared for a moment, before Raine pulls him back up, and asks him what the f*ck his problem is. "He is touching my mate," the guy shouts. "She is not your mate." The man gets flustered. That little moment tells me everything. "Yes, yes, she is my mate. Move away from my mate. Stop touching her." I look over at Rosslyn. "Do you want me to leave you alone? Do you want to be seated with him?" She shakes her head. Thank F*ck. "Can you and Amerie sit with us?" I nod. I love that she is not giving him any attention. She hasn't even looked at him. She is just answering to me. She wants to be surrounded by me, and my family. Finding my mate has been perfect, even if it is in the middle of a tragedy. "Of course. Anything for you," she goes back to sitting in the front row. "You heard her. She wants ME to sit with her. F*ck off," It feels great saying that. I walk away to focus on my mate. "Good job, human. Claim our mate!" Raze gets passed over to her. He is sleeping, and she looks so exhausted, so I have her hand him over to me. I get him comfortable on my chest. That gets me a tiny smile. Again, I feel my body light up. Any kind of praise, attention or comments made from her already mean so much to me. Our little moment vanishes as her eyes go from me, to where her mother's casket is, and she jumps up.
