Chapter 13

1952 Words
Rosslyn There are three simple reasons I have not completely broken down right now as I watch my mother lying in this casket. First is Raze. My brother is an infant. Mom is gone. There is no-one else to take care of him. I have to do it. Babies are hard work, and unfortunately not an easy task, but someone has to step up now, and that will be me. I will never leave my baby brother without care. Second is not wanting to show weakness in front of so many other packs. If people know that losing a family member is your weakness, then they know where to hit you when they attack. Although, I feel like that will always happened regardless, it's best not to show emotion or too much of it. The last reason is, Axel. My have had a lifelong crush on him, and him being so kind, gentle and my protector today has that crush growing even more. I don't really want him to see me crying though. Unfortunately, I have an ugly cry, so I am really trying to keep it together. I look over to where my aunt is standing, talking to her mate and Paul, and I feel disgusted. When Paul told me I was his mate, I wish I would have had the energy to laugh. I don't know why he is lying. Paul is in his early 20's. He would have known I was his mate for a very long time. He also has a big mouth, and he would not have been able to keep that to himself all of these years if it were true. I will keep an eye on him though. He is up to something. I quickly realize that walking down the stairs and finding my father with his mistress and everything that has happened after has made me distrustful of everyone. Axel is being real sweet and attentive. He offers to help me with Raze, and I let him just like I let his sister help me earlier. Besides Jacob, they are two people I really trust. Our families are all so close. I love them so much, and my mom loved them all so much too. I trust them with my life, and of course, with my baby brother. Maybe it's all in my mind, because I have been in love with Axel since forever, but I swear we have a little moment. I make myself look away, because I feel myself start to blush. I look back over to my mother's casket, and I am enraged at who just walked up. How dare he return after what he did to her? As calm and composed as I want to be, I can't help it. I freaking snap. "What are you doing here? Get away from her!" Why the f*ck is this murderer here? Who allowed him through our front gates and into our lands? I see red, and I get up so fast, and go over to him. Alpha Axel A bunch of his men begin coming forward. I pass baby Raze to my mother, and I stand in front of my mate. I'll be damned if they touch her or even think they are about to intimidate her. "Oh, it's like that." He looks over at my father, and he points at him, then at me. "Alpha Aaron, get your pup," he chuckles, but I don't hear anything funny. Neither does anyone else, because it is silent. Every single person stopped their conversations to watch us. "It's Alpha Axel," he raises an eyebrow. "Oh, is that right?" he looks around, watching everyone watch him. I can feel the rage in my mate. I will have to speak to her about this later. I need to know what happened here. For now though. I have to protect her and her peace. "Have a little respect. These are her parents, and this is their funeral, and Rosslyn doesn't want you here. You should go," he chuckles. "Rosslyn, you are mad at the wrong person. I didn't.." Raine comes flying out of nowhere and begins punching that man in the face. "Do not talk to my sister. Get the f*ck off my pack lands. You should've known better than to ever come back here after what you did," Saloman puts his arms up. "I didn't do anything," Raine is raging. "You f*&ck!ng r@ped her, you piece of sh1t. She was already d3@d when you violated her. You disgusting piece of sh1t. We have proof, and it's being turned in now. You better hope the elders take this seriously, and give my mother the justice she deserves, because if not, I will take matters into my own hands!" My chest burns with anger. What a disgusting piece of sh1t. How could anyone ever hurt Luna Brainy? My mate's mother was the kindest woman around here. "I did not do what you are accusing me of. You are lying. You have no proof, because there is no proof. I will go to the proper authorities about this. I will get you for defamation of my character. How dare you. A simple pup gets a little power, and he wants to come after me? I am protected by the council. No-one will ever believe you," he shouts. "I believe him," I say. Others also begin chanting, "I believe him." He looks around, and it looks like his head is about to explode. He gets so worked up. Red in the face and he keeps huffing and puffing. He points at Rosslyn. "You are going to pay for this, little girl," but my wolf comes forward, and I grab his finger. "Is that a f*ck!ng threat?" he tries to push me, but I am a big mother*cker. He does not move me. He looks scared, and he looks over at his men. "No, I am just saying. She can't go around lying about me," He doesn't get another word in. Raine gets his men, and they drag that r@pist and his men out. Good riddence. Raine and I check on Rosslyn, and then the vigil continues as planned. Raine and the highest priestess stood between both open caskets, where a microphone was placed. I have a baby sitting on my lap, and my mate is sitting next to me, sobbing quietly. I place a hand on her knee. I want to believe that I am giving her a little comfort. She has only allowed me or Amerie to hold Raze. My mom tried keeping him, and she said no and asked for him back. I think she trusts my sister and I. Sh!t, I hope she trusts me. The rest goes off without a hitch. Everything was beautifully prepared and executed. Rossy cries and is sad, but she is so sweet to everyone who goes up there to make their speech. She thanks each person and gives them a hug. She tells me that she planned this whole funeral. "She will be the perfect Luna. Our pack is so lucky to have her." I feel every single one of her emotions. Their pack members have a choir that goes up there to sing. They have many speakers, and they all have nothing but wonderful things to say about their Luna. Raine and Rosslyn go up there. Raine thanks everyone and says that Rosslyn wants to say some nice things about her parents. He comes and takes her empty seat. "Dude, you are a good babysitter. You're hired for night shifts," he chuckles. My mate starts talking, so I flip him off and give her my full attention. "I would like to start off by thanking you all for being here today. she clears her throat. Our Alpha and Luna's Legacy. Two lives, One bond." Her voice cracks a little, and I feel her deep sadness. My parents were together in life, and now they are together in eternity. To my mother. They say a mother's love is one of life's greatest gifts, and my mother proved that every single day. She loved fiercely, and gave selflessly. No matter what life threw our way, she was always there with open arms and a kind word. Today we say goodbye, but we could never say goodbye to the love you leave behind. You were more than my mother. You were the light in our family. Your smile could brighten the darkest day. Your spirit was unforgettable. Though your time with us was far too short, the love you gave will live on forever. As your daughter, I wish I had one more hug, one more conversation, one more chance to tell you I love you, and how proud I was of you. I never imagined I would have to stand here, with a heart so heavy, trying to find words for a loss that feels impossible. Mom, you chased your dreams with courage, touched so many lives, and gave people reasons to smile. Your legacy isn't measured by the years you lived, but by the hearts you changed. That kind of love never dies. I promise to keep your memory alive. I'll always speak your name with pride, share your story, and remind everyone of the beautiful soul you were. You may no longer walk beside us, but you will always walk within us. While my heart aches in her absence, I know she will always be with me, guiding me as she always has. I love you, mom, and I will cherish you forever. You will never ever be forgotten. Until we meet again, my perfect angel. I love you, forever. To my father, You know what you did, and I hope you are already paying for it. Raine stands up and claps. Other people clap softly as she gets off the stage. Two men and one woman come up and help her get off. "It's crazy how Rossy just gets everyone in line. She coordinated everything you see here today, and she clearly has her way with words. Look at how emotional everyone here is, and they all do what she says. Even when she doesn't say anything, people just gravitate to her. It's something," Raine says. This is so f*ck!ng sad, but I can't lie. I'm so impressed, and completely smitten. This girl already has me wrapped around her fingers. "She is very impressive," I agree with everything he says. "Excuse me, I would like to add to this speech, as my granddaughter did a poor job," the old Luna speaks into the microphone. Raine sighs. "Oh, for f*cks sake. She never stops," He stands up and snatches the mic from her and begins speaking. "Rosslyn, Raze and I, along with the MidNight Pack, would like to thank you all for taking the time to join us as we say goodbye to our Alpha and Luna. I have decided to make the funeral private. Our Luna was very precious to our pack. Especially to my sister. Their bond went beyond mother and daughter, and I'd like to give my sister privacy to say goodbye, and to grieve her properly. I know you all will understand, so if you are not a part of my pack, please say your goodbyes now and take your exit, so my pack can have some privacy. Any Alpha here that had any kind of arrangement with the old Alpha, please stop by to speak to me so we can arrange a meeting. I want to make sure we are all good." Raine announces, and everyone begins moving. "Thanks for coming. Give me my brother," I hand Raze over, and move towards Rosslyn.
