Chapter 14

Alpha Axel

I don't want to leave, and leave Rosslyn here alone. I know she is with her siblings, and her pack, but I feel like she needs me. Unfortunately, Raine declared the viewing over, and there is nothing I can do about it. This is his pack, and he runs it however he wants. I have no say here.

I haven't even told him that his sister is my mate. I plan to meet with him soon to discuss it in private, along with other things, including business deals. I did see him speaking with other Alphas already. My dad linked me that some deals were made while I was making sure my mate was okay.

I actually have an offer that will benefit both of our packs since we are literally right down the road from each other. I also want to offer some of my men if he needs more protection for the pack. I want to put my guards on Rossy, but I have a feeling they might think that is extreme. I also don't want anyone to know she is my mate. I want her to be surprised when she turns 18, and I wouldn't want to put her in any danger. Other packs will always go after an Alpha's mate to hurt them.

"Hey, we are heading out. Do you need anything from me?" Rosslyn shakes her head. "No, but thank you for today. I will never forget how you believed me, and defended me. I appreciate you," my wolf puffs his chest out at her compliment. "You don't have to thank me. I would do anything for you," I pull her in for a hug.

I feel their Beta's son coming close. He clears his throat and I wish I could punch him in his f*ck1ng face for interrupting our moment. "Rossy, we have to go," My wolf growls in my head. I do not like the way he is always around her. "Okay," she pulls away from me, and I almost growl out loud again.

"Bye, Alpha," my wolf whines, but I know I have to leave and find my family. "We have to find a way to get her to our pack," my wolf says. "The lotus festival," is my only answer.

Mom sobs all the way home.

"He r@ped her. He f*ck!ng r@ped her when she was already dead, Aaron. How could anyone do that? What a disgusting piece of sh1t, and he had the audacity to return to her pack!" Dad sighs loudly. "I'm so f*ck1ng sorry baby. I know she was your best friend, and that was difficult for you to hear, but she is gone now, and it's best you forget you even heard that. Think happier thoughts. Let's put our energy into happier and stronger thoughts. Like her kids. They are so strong, and they stood 10 toes down for her." She wipes her tears. "You are right. She raised great kids, but I am so angry. She must have suffered so much. I know there is so much that happened there that Raine and his people won't say. I don't know if we will ever know exactly what the h3ll happened in that pack, but I am so proud of the way Raine stuck up for his sister. He is already proving to be a better Alpha than Richard ever was!" My parents speak straight facts. "I told you these kids are nothing to mess with. Once things settle down in the midnight pack, we need to meet with Alpha Raine and let him know that the treaty I signed with his father still stands, or you both can make a new one. On your own rules." he tells me.

It doesn't take long to clear everyone out. I do my rounds and make sure we are secure before we get started.

The highest priestess says some words. She blesses the bodies, then she comes and places her hand on Rossy's forehead. Even though Rosslyn is completely breaking down and crying hysterically, she smiles at her and continues. I can feel how my sister's heart beat changes as mom is lowered onto the ground.

For a moment, I think I made a mistake by having a funeral and allowing them to be buried and have a resting place for Rossy to visit. I should have just burned the bodies like we do with everyone else. But I know that mom would want things to be done the way my sister wants, and I am moving and making decisions that have my sibling's best interest at heart. Mom and grandma were the only ones who ever put us first, and I know mom would expect me to continue treating her babies the same way she did. So that is what I plan on doing. Rosslyn and Raze will never suffer as long as I am alive. I am not my father. I will not let them down.

I will never forget my sister's cries or get the image of her begging mom to wake up from my head. She starts dry heaving, and she keeps telling mom how much she loves her and how she will take care of Raze. All I can do is place my hand on her back for comfort. As they began lowering dad's body onto the ground. Pack members step forward and drop flowers over the caskets when a big explosion is heard and smoke begins covering the air. Everyone begins screaming and running.

Rossy turns to look at me and she nods. Her whole demeanor and face changes. She locks in, so do I. I hand Raze to my grandmother.

"Midnight Pack, we are under attack. Everyone, calm down and work together. Women and children head to the bunker, guards and those trained in weapons follow me. Quickly and quietly. Your Luna has trained you all for this." I shout and everyone gets moving.

If there is one thing I will always be thankful to mom for is her always teaching the pack to be ready for an attack. We all started training as children. That is something not many packs do, but we are smaller, so we all had to know how to defend and protect ourselves from a young age.

Mom was always more alpha than dad ever was. He barely showed up for training sessions, while my mother got up and was the lead trainer for 4am sessions almost every day.

I hand weapons out when I get a mind link that we have people approaching the back entrance to the pack. "Rossy, Jacob, and teenagers trained in weaponry, head to the front of the pack. Here, take walkie-talkies. If anyone who is not an ally steps foot in our pack, shoot to k1ll," I give the order.

"Alpha, how will we know who is an Ally?" Rossy asks. I hate when she calls me Alpha, but I love her for respecting my position and showing the pack she is just like everyone else. No special treatment for anyone here, and she is not afraid to ask questions.

"Trust me, you will know," she nods and leads the teenagers out.
