Lisa’s POV
I sat by the window, staring out at the endless stretch of forest and trees swaying gently in the breeze. The soft knock at my door broke the stillness.
I asked the person in and wasn’t surprised to see Alpha Cain walking in. Our gaze interlocked, and then I noticed the worried look on his face, despite how much he was trying to hide it.
Slowly, I got up and stood beside the window while he walked further into the room and stopped a few miles away from me. An awkward silence hung in the air as I waited for him to speak. After a few moments, he released a soft sigh and shoved his hands into his pants.
“Alpha Nathan is on his way," Cain announced, his voice low. “In fact… he should be here any moment now.”
