Ellie's late mother (Diane) was a siren who fell in love with a human, Ellies father, James, and left her life in the sea to be with him. This was despite the hatred shared between the two species keeping the fact that she is a siren a secret from the humans in their small town. Until a Silencer (an organization of Siren hunters) finds out Diane is a siren, kills her, and makes it look like a car accident. When Ellie turns 18 her Father gives her, her mother's necklace that connects her to her ancestors and her siren roots and draws her to the ocean that she hasn’t seen since her mother was alive. Her friend plans a birthday surprise for her in the form of a bonfire night with music and drinks flowing. Her high school enemy, Joana, shows up and gets into a fight with Ellie that ends up with her getting swept out in a current in the ocean, she feels as though she is drowning and thinks this is it (she can’t swim) and then she transforms. She passes out from the initial lack of oxygen and washes up on the shore under the dock and transforms back to her human form. A new Fish packer who works at the docks finds her, covers her, and helps her, His name is Micah. She talks to her dad and discovers her roots and when her Aunt Jacinta comes to visit next she goes with her to explore her ocean heritage. She makes friends, meets family, and falls in love with it.. while she’s seeing Micah in between ocean visits and is falling in love with him as well. She can only choose one since the two worlds are out to get each other and on the brink of war. Will she pick love or Family?
