Chapter 2

As we got to the gate of their mansion I was stunned, this heavenly building was where I was going to be staying wow

Just thinking about how I was free from my uncle relieved me a bit and I'm sure he's going to get the contract now and pay my sister's medical bills, she's the only one I've got

I would run mad if anything happened to her, even though this is not the life I want, I'm happy to do this for the sake of my sister

I was still in my thoughts when the driver parked in front of the building it took five minutes from the gate to the building

I got down from the car and I looked around I saw in front of the house a beautiful garden by the side with a lot of lovely flowers it made the surroundings look beautiful I walked to the door and two women were standing waiting for me as I approached they greeted me

Maid 1 (Mrs Gloria)

“Good evening Mrs Anothonys I'm happy to have you here and I'm here to serve you anytime

Maid 2 (kara)

Good evening ma'am I will be your personal maid you can call on me anytime I'm available for you

I left out a small smirk and said thank you to them

I wasn't expecting to have a personal maid let alone a MAID

I'm not used to having someone serve me

Then the maid showed me my way to the living room

My personal maid as she said earlier is named Kara

She looks young has dark short hair very light skinned and she's beautiful, she looks calm and reserved

Well I could work with this one and not Mrs. Gloria who's in her forty and doesn't have a likable face it seems like she's forced to smile

Kara walked me to my room, It's very large, In years since I lost my parents I've not been in anything comfortable I felt free at least the bed is a big size like that of a princess.

the closet is in another room, my bathroom is the biggest I've seen I felt like I was living in my apartment

Then I remembered "I just got married."

I went to the closet and I saw only my dress in the wardrobe

They already set up everything for me

I was wondering if David didn't live here and when his things are coming

I looked back and saw Kara standing behind me, with a smile I asked when are they bringing in David's belongings it seemed to be just my things that were in this room

Kara” Ma'am this is your room Mr David does not live here”

My eyes brightened I didn't know if it was a sign of disappointment or relief

I still could not forget what he did at the reception

I thought he wanted to get married or maybe not, I didn't want to also get married too so it's fine

I think I said that loud Kara asked if I was talking to her I smiled and said no

After Kara finished arranging a few things I asked her to leave I wanted to be alone and figure out what I wanted to do now because this house might be big and comfortable but it didn't seem like a home to me

I slept off like a baby

I heard someone knock on my door and said it's time for dinner

I replied okay

Ahh, I was starving.

Through the help of Mrs. Gloria, I located the dining room it was as beautiful as expected

Everyone was already sitted I guess they were waiting for me

Upon arriving dinner was served everyone ate in silence

By everyone I mean Mr. and Mrs. Anthony, Jack (David's younger brother), and me

I was wondering if this is what they all say in silence aside from myself being present

Mrs Anthony broke the silence maybe she could read my mind by just looking at me

Is the food to your liking dear - she asked

I nodded approving it is

She continued this is Jack David's younger brother I'm sure you've not been introduced properly

He looked up and said hi I responded with hi also

He looks calm, nothing like his brother

We all finished the food in silence without Mr Anthony saying a word

After the meal, the cook asked if I wanted desert I said no

And I asked to excuse myself

That's when Mrs. Anthony told Gloria to show me to his office

I was sitting there waiting for him when he walked in

I was already sitting

Mr Anthony

How are you, my dear

I'm fine she said

I looked at her she was shy but I wasn't disappointed with my decision to have her marry my son

I know you must be wondering where your husband is, she nodded

He doesn't live here and I want to be truthful to you I didn't want to get married I made him do it

So I want you to be very patient with him. He is going to come around, and hopefully, you get to live with him.

I thought as much as I knew he wasn't into this marriage

How can a married man be away from his wife on the night of his wedding

Well I'm not also Into him it's fine

I also didn't want this marriage he can be away for as long as he wants

As long as Gabriel gets his contact, pays for my sis medical bills and I get to be free here I'm good I listened as Mr Anthony finished talking

I smiled I said I understand and it's fine

We said goodnight to each other and I went to my room

While I was on my bed, I cried like a baby; I've always dreamt of my wedding night; I've always prayed for it to be special with the man I love.

Why do bad things keep happening to me

I cried myself to sleep at least I don't have to wake up by 4 to make sure everywhere

is clean and make breakfast for those ungrateful people so that's a win for me

It's a new day I don't know why I was excited but I was, it's been so long since I slept this long without being interrupted, there is no one to boss me around and I get to sleep in a more comfortable bed

Uhm I sighed

Kara knocked and walked it she greeted me and opened the curtain it was so bright outside that I turned to see the alarm on the table next to me it was 10:30 am

I got up and headed straight to the bathroom had my bath, got dressed, and went straight to the kitchen I wanted to prepare breakfast for myself the house looked empty so I assumed I was the only one at home with the maids

I heard a voice running towards me it was the cook she Calmly asked me to sit and she made breakfast

It felt awkward for someone to make breakfast for me, a few minutes later she she dropped the food on the table and apologized for how she spoke to me claiming that If Mrs Anthony had seen she would have been in a lot of trouble I gave a small smile and nodded

I was enjoying breakfast when Jack came to sit beside me and he said hi, I smiled and nodded

JACK

I saw her sitting alone in the kitchen table, I wondered what she was thinking

it must be so miserable to think that she just got married and couldn't spend their wedding night with her husband

I went to sit with her trying to get to know her better and keep her company as the best I could do

And she doesn't seem like someone who talks much so I will be fine

Hi” I said

She smiled at me and nodded

It's Sophia Right sorry for not introducing myself earlier

It's fine, everyone has his or her ways ‘she replied

So what are your hobbies, you can't just be home all day, or have you always dreamt of being a housewife, I smiled

Nah I don't know yet but I'm looking forward to a lot of things so I'm going to crawl before I walk

That's great, or if you want I can take you to your husband's apartment, that's if you don't mind…I mean if er you're okay with it

Nah I'm fine I don't think he wants to see me anyway whenever he is ready I will wait

I watched him go and I wished my arranged marriage could be with someone like him at least, someone who cares not like his brother

I finished my meal, Kara was waiting for me in the living room, and she showed me around the house. I was so stunned throughout the journey,

This house is so beautiful was the only word coming out of my mouth.

After the tour, I went back to my room and immediately what Jack said struck me

I've always wanted to be an Independent housewife, have my own business take care of the house the kids

I just thought this was just my imagination with this kind of marriage I won't get that

I started to think about what business I should venture into

What hobbies do I have?, but I couldn't think of one

“Uncle Gabriel spoiled my youth,” I said to myself

I was looking out the window when I heard a knock on my door.

“Come in,” I said

To my surprise I saw a tall figure standing right there he looked so handsome and clean I was admiring him in my head and I remembered oh it's him

“Hi,” I said

“Hey” he replied

“Pack your bags we are leaving,” he said

“I don't understand, leaving? I said

Yeah, that's what I said.

You heard me, I don't want you to argue with me. I just came here to pick you up, and I would like you to hurry up. I don't have all day.

Uhm, hello, you left me at the reception; I came here. You were nowhere to be found, and now you're here ordering me to pack my things, and let's leave. You don't feel you need to explain what happened to me?

Nah, I don't think I have to explain anything to you. It's just best if you do as I say. That's the only way this marriage is going to work; I'm waiting for you in the car.

I started packing my things with the help of Kara

“How can someone be that good-looking and devilish,”

After parking my things they got moved to his car

I saw him through the window waiting for me to get in, a Walk to him and asked

I went back inside to say bye to Mrs Anthony

We exchanged greetings and she walked me to the door
