6 “I need to talk to you,” Brian said gruffly just after lunch on Friday. Cody was immediately on edge. His foreman never sought him out unless there was an issue. And they couldn’t afford issues. “What’s up?” Cody asked, striving for chill. He liked Brian. The man did excellent work. But he was a huge thorn in Cody’s side the majority of the time. He was hoping Andie’s house would show that Brian could take the lead on a project and be in charge of the entire operation when he was gone, but he really didn’t know if that was possible. “This project is taking up too much of our manpower.
